Chainsaw Man discussion thread

Pochita chops Old Age into itty bitty pieces; Old Age and Yoru mutually agree that the former negs the latter; Yoru blows holes through Pochita & turns him into a torso.

Fujimoto please stop this how do I even justify Old Age's striking strength & durability.

Worse than that, Pochita ripped Aging apart with just his hands at one point, meaning you can't even say that Pochita's chainsaws are just really sharp. (Not that that would solve the problem either since while the saws did deflected a shot from the Gun Gauntlet, they were still destroyed by the Gun Goddess)

I mean, as the Devil of Old Age, their body being frail as shit compared to their actual power would make a lot of sense.

This creates another problem because the more your feared the more powerful you should be, that including physical power. If Aging—a Primal Devil, has a frail body, then the verse scaling kinda just throws it self over as it won't make any sense.

In other words, let's wait out the 10 - 13 chapters left 😭

A while back, I asked the CGM who did the recalc of the Bat Devil's sonic potency on why they used 80% Hollowness instead of 90%

They responded:
80% is the hollowness accepted on this site for buildings.

Or to be more accurate:

For things like buildings and vehicles the fact that they are hollow has to be considered. The specific values vary based on the building or vehicle in question, although often 80% to 90% hollowness is assumed. 80% to 90% is usable, there is no preference besides the personal one.
Meaning we can buff the other calc's Elaj did using 90% hollowness

...By chance, do you think that a 1/3-pounder burger has less meat than a 1/4-pounder too? (90% hollowness means 9 parts air and 1 part building, while 80% means 8 parts air and 2 parts building. Going from 80% to 90% would half the volume destroyed.)

Barem ain't a power-scaler.
Barem's absolutely a power-scaler, that's why his takes are inaccurate. (Disclaimer that I'm gonna wait til' the arcs over to draw any solid conclusions, it's just funny making libel)
Anyways how do I index this and this.
The first is another example of Aging's hax being better than their strikes- they did way more damage with their telekinetically(?) contracted hits than their contracted physical punches. The second is just the world of Chainsaw Man being weird, not sure if that has much bearing on Aging's profile.

The 80% assumption here isn’t arbitrary since it’s based on commonly accepted conventions for these types of calcs. But, like he said, it’s personal preference, so it really depends on the calc we’re talking about. Is there something preventing us from using 80% hollowness in general?

There isn't, which is why I'm already using 80% hollowness- the ReCalc part of the Fox Devil's Calc is me using 80% instead of 90% like the original calc did, as literally every major building busting calc for Chainsaw Man used 80% hollowness instead of 90%. And the volume for Pochita's Dropkick ReCalc was obtained used 80% hollowness too.

I'm not sure what the question here is?

The 1800s Gun Devil must've either been horrifying or hilarious.

Just imagine a two-story tall mish-mash of flintlock pistols, muskets, cannons, and corpses. It's horrifically inaccurate, and deadly for about thirty seconds before it takes another fifteen minutes to reload. Its biggest weakness is its chronic addiction to dueling.

I moreso mean what ability is "dismembering someone by turning parts of them into mush with a really wet sound effect". I fear I may need to fall back onto Ol' Reliable.
I've seen people argue he's causing Pochita to develop large cancerous growths in these areas by sacrificing respective body parts. The same way cancer is one of the things that come with cellular aging.
