Calvin and Hobbles: "Imagination" profile wiping

Not open for further replies.
I mean, I'm going to remind that Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions got deleted for having as "feats" sheer regular imagination segments while the "real" stuff was a completely normal tier 10 cast. This is no different.

Okay. Would you be willing to handle deleting the profiles Wokistan? Any pages that limk to them need to be updated though.

Sure.

If anyone wants the source code for them feel free to ask, I'll save links to easily retrieve them

I think the fact that the entire series is viewed through the lens of a rather precocious 6 year old and heavily uses magical realism type stuff through Calvin's imagination would make it rather difficult to index for.
Not really, we already made profiles without any problems. We indexed them already without incident, so these problems are all manufactured, made up.

Id like to point out that word of god confirms that while some fans interpret it as being 100% imagination and others as it actually effecting reality, Bill Watterson has stated it's a matter of perspective.

That being said, if we're straight up nuking the verse now, we would need to put much stricter regulation on Reality Equalizatio

Tell that to Composite Human, that's just not how it works.
Boberto, actually me wrong, the profile had no issues caused by it. Removing it does nothing.

Okay, perhaps it would be a good idea to upgrade the standards on Reality Equalization, while we are on that, mainly to avoid this sort of stuff being bright up in the future too easily.

It doesn't make a difference either way. We are already dealing with fiction on the wiki so why does it matter if it is imaginary to the imaginary characters?

It does something, preventing Composite Profiles from having double standards, while also avoiding the dislike on the site for having a blatant rule breaking out of bias.

Calvin and Hobbes
Summary

Calvin and Hobbes is an American comic centered around the adventures and misadventures of Calvin and his pet tiger Hobbes. The plot focuses on 6 year-old Calvin as he navigates life with the help of his very active imagination. Calvin mixes humor and visual gags with surprisingly poignant social commentary on life and relationships. Calvin and Hobbes frequently blurs the line between imagination and reality to the point where it is hard to distinguish one from the other.

Power of the Verse
The "real" world of Calvin and Hobbes is a mirror of our own human universe. The true power of the verse lies in Calvin's imagination which includes several prominent Hax abilities and creations including a time machine, a duplication machine, a gun that can transform you into any object in the universe while retaining your sentience, FTL travel with Spaceman Spiff, A powerful Superman-esque hero with Stupendous man and many more.

Hobbes
Calvin-and-hobbes-clipart-calivin-877191-4957285
Summary

Hobbes is a tiger, and the best friend of six year old boy Calvin. He is extremely prideful of his animal nature and can be rather cynical and dismissive when it comes to humans, but he and Calvin are nonetheless extremely close (to the point Hobbes will happily pounce on Calvin whenever he gets home from school). One interesting thing to note however is that while Calvin views Hobbes as a living tiger, everyone else sees him as a stuffed animal, and Bill Watterson is intentionally vague on which is his true nature.

Powers and Stats
Tier: 9-B

Name:
Hobbes

Origin: Calvin and Hobbes

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown, possibly 6+ years (implies that he's been around since Calvin was a baby)

Classification: Bengal tiger

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Enhanced Senses, Self-Sustenance (Type 1; Unharmed traveling through the vacuum of space and on Mars without any protective equipment), Some degree of Toon Force, Stealth Mastery, Natural Weaponry (Teeth and retractable claws)

Attack Potency: Wall level (is a Bengal Tiger, able to harm Calvin who shares his durability, tackled Calvin hard enough to dig a ditch in the ground, and knock him far enough back that he claims "it would take four downs to get back to the field", tackled Calvin from the front door, digging a large ditch into the ground)

Speed: SuperHuman (is a tiger, blitzed Calvin from a good distance away when he was only ten yards away from the endzone. Implied he could do this if Calvin was two yards away, went from flying out a door to turn around and pouncing on Calvin in .8 seconds)

Lifting Strength: Possibly at least Class 1 (should be at least comparable to real tigers)

Striking Strength: Wall Class

Durability:
Wall level (Survived falling from a great height and hitting the ground so hard he was embedded into the ground)

Stamina: Possibly high superhuman (should be comparable to real tigers)

Range: Standard melee range

Standard Equipment: None

Intelligence: Varies from average to surprisingly high (used a tripwire to stop Calvin and the football, he and Calvin created a system to lift a large number of water balloons to their tree fort, Came up with a way for Calvin to disable his killer bike, Easily outwitted Calvin armed with multiple water balloons, however he's not very good at math despite claims to the contrary and is illiterate)

Weaknesses: Will do anything for a tuna fish sandwhich, beguiled by feminine charms, can't turn around quickly on floorboards

Bob, are you seriously just repeating the same point about the rules again. That doesn't prove that this is right. Useless rules aren't inherently good or something to be followed. Look at literally any history of a nation.

You are literally just saying we follow the rules just to not break them. It is as if you have no idea why they even exist. The rule is useless, just admit it and keep the profiles.

That's not how it works, a wiki has rules to respect them, if you think they are wrong, bring reasons for your idea beyond "it doesn't do any harm" or "no one minds", because they have been debunked already in the same way Composite Human got deleted anyways with only that stuff backing up it being around.

When you only bring up bias as an argument... yeah, the one with a lack of argument is actually you, respectively.

Bob, stop trying to mimic me and misrepresent my argument it only makes you look worse.

Well, excuse me for saying the truth bluntly to you, as much as you (And I) dislike this, this is how the wiki goes, if you really want that stuff staying, as said before, bring other arguments, as lately you've been doing a ton of Ad Nauseam fallacy, to say the least.

@00potato Keeping the profiles around isn't harmless, since it sets a bad precedent for slowly including verses with more and more imagination-based feats into absurdity.

We decided long ago that such verses aren't okay, and stay not okay even after the implementation of the Reality - Fiction Interaction guidelines.

There's literally nothing on this page on the Reality - Fiction Interaction page, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Whoops, meant to talk about Reality Equalizatio, since that was talked about earlier in this thread. Even that wouldn't include it because having some stuff that's "imaginary" but still meant to be on the same level of reality doesn't really intersect with those rules. Still, the rule changes that allowed Reality Equalization didn't allow imagination-based verses.

So suddenly this is some absurd slippery slope. People will pull this crap when anything pops up. Anyone could wank verses into absurdity you don't need these profiles to do that.

What do you even mean, is this making this verse to strong to "absurdity?"

This would be separate from other characters in the verse such as Hobbes so it isn't unreasonably stretching out the whole verse out. Just a few characters with feats.

Well we can't check that statement now because someone deleted the profiles. I am looking at you Robert.

00potato said:

I am knowledgable on Calvin and Hobbes, like I said in the profile deletion thread, Clavin and Hobbes is one of my favorite verses out there.

And noone has any form of anything which would warrant profiles.

I beleive imaginary things in Calvin and Hobbes would be allowed under this rule:

Acceptable examples:

  • Sword Art Online or The Matrix both feature virtual worlds, and a large portion of these verses' story takes place inside said virtual world. They thus are allowed to have Reality Equalized keys.
"and a large portion of these verses' story takes place inside said virtual world"

Most of Calvin and Hobbes is simply Calvin's imaginary version of the world. As such, this rule should apply to them.

00potato said:
Then what were the justifications for the previous profile's stats?
Stupendous Man and Spaceman spiff are just figments of his imagination, which scale to a bunch of made up feats.

Hobbes scales to pulverization of the ground, but the thing is that was under Calvin's own imaginative perspective, in reality he is just a stuffed tiger, and there are many instances in which other characters just view it as Calvin's own misdoings

Actually if Calvin and Hobbes is similar enough to SAO, and we are deleting most of it, then I am fine with it.

Goodbye Kirito. Nobody will miss you.

No no no. We're not here to delete profiles. We're here to preserve them. In my opinion, if even the slightest technicality allows a profile to exist and have meaning (And be SFW), it should be allowed.

00potato said:
I would agree but it is SAO.
I mean, every verse has it's fans, even the unpopular and hated verses has a few fans rooting for it (Such as Instant Death, A Wild Last Boss Appeared, Barney, and Fortnite). Pretty sure most of SAO being deleted would irk some of the people on this wiki

Regardless of what others feel about the quality of a verse, everyone is entitled to like what they like in fiction. We arn't trying to change the rules to get rid of SAO, we're trying to prove the rules apply to Calvin and Hobbes.

I would much rather have a beloved comic strip on this wiki than remove an anime that a lot of people have strong opinions of.

Barney is high quality material man, don't lump it in with your your weeb filth and scummy money making scemes.

Dude, uncool, don't call verses "weeb filth"

Anyway, let's continue, so, can you give me proof that Calvin and Hobbes should stay on this wiki, or are you done and just think SAO needs to be deleted, because if you are done, then I will request this to be closed and for a CRT to be made
