Calamity RP - Registration Thread

Don't literally use someone from the Terraria mod, I want something that is at least decently serious in this, and not literally characters from elsewhere.

The powers are also bad.

Legit though even past the issues already brought up, just ripping off a character from another verse is really unoriginal, and just causes a lot of issues with the setting inofitself. This RP has it's whole own world behind it, you shouldn't try to overwrite it for haha funny calamity mod.

You are however free to and in fact encouraged to listen to calamity music when you write your posts
 
To an extent. As you can see with stuff like my power there is certain leeway with this, though straight Reality Warping with no limitations or requirements is almost definitely not allowed.
 
Reality Warping is fine but not the "can do anything" kind.

It has to be contained in some way. Ed's power is an example of that, in that it is reality warping in function, but with limitations.
 
A proposal: The character's mind is connected to the world around them, right down to the atoms, allowing them to warp "reality" by altering space and matter. However, the power functions kind of like Telekinesis, and as such, the weaknesses are similar as well:
  • As previously established, they can control space and matter, but not time.
  • They can only do so much at a time with their ability before they begin to overexert themselves and damage their own head.
  • They cannot create a bunch of large stuff in succession, otherwise they would practically destroy their brain.
  • They cannot create things outside of the reaches of space; such as portals, which seem to require the manipulation of space-time, imaginary particles (i.e., tachyons), for obvious reasons, black holes, which would require a whole bunch of infinites, or outer space itself, since it's too big.
  • Yatta yatta, stuff like that.

Appearance: A man of unknown ethnicity in a t shirt and pants. His body and clothes glow white hot, making most of his features hard to distinguish.

Backstory: Born in this world. Was training to be a vet, but has avoided small animals since becoming a calamity.

Power:
Energetic skin:
The extra-dimensional energy he possesses stimulates a property within Allen’s skin and objects in contact with it such as clothes or armor, causing them to constantly absorb and store energy. This causes objects he’s in contact with to lose kinetic energy in all forms, causing them to drop in temperature and luminosity, have sound muffled, and lose negative electrical charge, if he stays in contact for too long without significant additional energy being added they can even drop to absolute zero. Allen has some control over whether this energy is released, and to what extent. When he releases energy, it causes superheating of the surrounding area (generating plasma and intense thermal expansion), creates a deafening sound, and causes an EMP. Though he absorbs it, he is unable to properly contain light, causing his skin and clothes to constantly glow white with light produced by the heat of his skin.



Skills:

Medical knowledge: Allen had taken 3 years of veterinary school prior to the apocalypse. He’s consequently better at treating animals than humans, though since becoming a calamity he hasn’t done either.

Animal handling: Allen has worked with animals all his life, and can understand their behavior, wants, and needs, though he has avoided touching them since becoming a calamity.

Sciences: Allen is knowledgeable in physics, chemistry, and biology. Also knowledgeable in math, and has coding experience to the extent that was necessary for classes.

Memory: Allen has a photographic memory.

Power: Weapon Control: Kazuya uses his energy to form a variety of weapons and ammunition. With this he can create weapons that fire normal bullets or energy blasts as well as creatnumerous explosives. This power can be used to create melee weaponry however Kazuya lacks training and skill with these weapons. He has control of the bullets trajectory after its fired allowing for him to adjust his shots. The weapons he creates can also adapt to whatever they are fighting over time, allowing them to eventually break through something they couldn’t before including other supernatural abilities.

Skills:
Marksmanship: Kazuya is a extremely talented marksman with all forms of weaponry and is capable of landing some near impossible shots relatively easily.

Analysis and tactical experience : Is able to grasp new information at a fast rate. This helps him to understand how others abilities work as well as what kind of person someone is. He uses this in conjunction with his tactical knowledge to give him an edge in battle.

Charisma: Is able to easily gain the trust of others and make them very loyal to him.

Background: Born in an alternate reality. Suffers from mild amnesia after her vision. Can only seem to remember her personality and name. Her soft-spoken and obedient nature suggests that she was some sort of servant in her past life. Yet, the raw power she possesses betrays that expectation. Who is this mysterious maiden turned calamity, and will she forego the process of learning her own history in favor of forging a new one?

Power: Elemental Glyphs: By making a small gesture, whether it be by her hands, feet, hips, or head, she is able to manifest golden glowing sigils in front of her, used to project an attack related to a certain element and act as a remote control for aspects of those very elements around her. Her options include Fire (Electricity), Earth (Sand. Plants, and Magma), Water (Ice and Blood), Air and Mind (Illusion and Sense). These abilities are directly tied to her emotions and mental state, growing noticeably more powerful and flexible whenever she herself feels tied to a certain element. For example, when in a particularly impulsive mood, projecting fire and electricity come easier to her. And in a state of absolute calmness, her ability to project illusions and manipulate the thoughts of her opponent grows extremely more proficient. This, however, does not make the remaining elements weaker. These glyphs can also be used to appear on an object to move them telekinetically. In addition to being used offensively, they can also be used to act as defensive forcefields that can reflect and absorb energy-based attacks. This newfound power sources from the same that empowers all calamities -- however it is guided by her imagination. How and when it can be used is as flexible as her own thoughts. Though her struggle to think outside of the box -- something that can be expanded and worked upon over time -- hinders this quite a bit.

Skills:

Acrobatic Experience: Physically, Lydia is quite flexible and nimble. Able to perform capoeira-styled fighting techniques and evade with grace and skill. Feats like backflips, backwards-bending, and other showcases of flexibility come quite naturally to her. Though she remains an amnesiac, her muscle memory never quite went away.

Sudden Choice: Lydia is able to act instinctively upon split-second reactions. In less than moments, she is able to both properly formulate a plan of action and go into motion without a second thought. It is extremely hard to take her completely off-guard.

Enhanced Memory: Despite her memory issues relating to her new life, she has a surprisingly good memory in regards to her recent experiences, being able to pick out specific details about people, objects, information, and attacks. Even the most minor characteristics do not escape her eye.

  • Appearance: Generally inconsistent, but appears to be comfortable in the form of a male, with to-date clothing formed from it's own mass.
  • Backstory: While the various experiments to produce artificial calamities were not, themselves, successful, the mass grave filled with the results of said experiments proved to be the perfect starting ground for something much more aligned with the goals of the project. Pulling itself from the putrefying mess, it escaped into the world at large, learning as it went.
  • Power:
    • Perfection: While it does not possess any particular ability itself, it's natural capabilities as a calamity are drastically enhanced over the baseline. Primarily, it's level of regeneration and control over it's own body is as though what a calamity's own is to a normal human, although the former still suffers the same fatal, or at least debilitating, weaknesses as any calamity. Able to control it's form on a level below even the cellular, to the point of being able to force specific changes to it's own chemical composition, it can bypass this somewhat, by growing additional brains throughout it's mass, and even somewhat negate the effects of having it's regeneration negated by grafting portions of flesh, procured from another point, into the wound, although this is not a perfect process when done on the fly. Additionally, this control allows it a much greater range with which it's senses may operate.

      This level of personal control also has many uses in combat or general utility. By directly altering it's genome, it can grant itself almost any trait nature could imagine, and it's flesh can morph itself into any shape it's current mass way allow. These changes are, as stated, incredibly precise, able to actively create attacks small enough to slip through the gaps between the cells in a target without much loss in concentration or even outright fuse to the target at a cellular level. Even further, this control allows it a far more efficient capacity to use it's stores of energy, allowing it to withstand attacks and maintain it's healing far longer than is standard.

      However, the most potent effect of this enhanced physiology is it's absurd capacity for evolution and adaption. Beyond what simple biological evolution can achieve, it can adapt to many outright supernatural forms of harm, lessening their hold on it. In put a single thought, more evolution than humanity has ever experienced, going back to a four billion year old primordial ooze, is achieved and further built upon, and not merely in terms of biological traits. It is capable of rapidly growing new defenses and forms of weaponry to counter specific threats, and keep the efforts for later use against other threats. For example, against an unusually durable foe, assuming more subtle forms of attack had failed, it would begin growing in strength to overpower this defense, and keep that newfound strength, with this principle applying even to more esoteric problems. Even further, it is capable of incorporating mechanical or mystical structures into it's form, adapting over and with them as though they were a simple part of it's biology. However, this has a slight weakness in the fact that it is taking the straightest line between a problem and it's solution rather than the shortest line, which can not only work against it in specific scenarios but also prevents it from utilizing the increased speed of evolution it gains in problematic circumstances more reliably.

      And finally, as all beings will showcase extreme physical capabilities when life and death are the matters at play, it is in a league of it's own. While calamities are themselves well above most other organisms in this regard, able to drastically grow in power in dire situations, but it seems to pull from every possible avenue of emergency strength. It's mind is sharper than ever, it's cells themselves seem to grow and evolve of their accord towards the goal of survival before it has any realization of what has occurred, and all emergency stores are drawn from, whether it be fat, adrenaline, or even other normal tissues in the form of autophagy. Even further, in this state, the non-native portions of it's body, whether mechanical or supernatural, appear far more powerful and efficient than should be possible in their normal state, as though even they are aware of the situation in some way.
  • Skills:
    • Absorption and Utilization of Information: Being primarily human in nature, it has a natural penchant for learning and putting that information to good use. However, given it's nature both as a calamity and as something unusual even among that crowd, this is taken to a ridiculous extent. It absorbs knowledge at an absurd rate and with disturbing precision, being capable of reading a book by simply holding it and feeling the weight and distribution of ink on the inner page for example, and determining optimal and creative uses for that information. While all animals have some innate sense for predators or relevant prey, it is capable of a far more thorough evaluation of events with a sub-instinctual level of effort: it's as though the information was always known, somehow. While extremely young chronologically, it showcases an unusual degree of life experience, as though somehow much older than time itself would show.
 
I added an additional detail about Regen in the section of standard powers that's worth noting.

Power:
Infohazard: The standard ability to break down “communication and understanding“ of all kinds. For starters, the ability can disrupt data received from themselve, preventing things like telepathy, text, speech, information analyzed through supernatural means, or other sorts of data used by another force from being registered and intelligible unless they allow it, even being able to falsify that data. Furthermore, they are also spread the scrambling effect to other things, allowing them to do things like make any sort of signals unregisterable and unintelligible. The user can pick out specific targets in a range or up to 500 km or create an AoE of 500km within that range with preset conditions and types of scrambling, though the user cannot use other uses of the power while the AoE is actively the radius of the AoE extends beyonds the normal target range, nor can the user change the present AoE’s effects without taking it down first

Skills:
Inference: The user has the ability to make extrapolations based on limited data, allowing him to make conclusions from limited evidence that explain a large amount about the target, such as weight, height, and medical history as well as potential weakspots based on a persons gait, or predicting their actions based on their personality and speech for example, allowing a sort of analytical prediction in a fight.

Voluntary Physical Control: Through intense training, Xander has gained the ability to be able to make any of the natural biological processes inherent to a human become voluntary, overcoming basic instincts to do things ranging from voluntary sleep to precise release of hormone. Due to this training, he additionally has a immense underetanding of physiology and the human body,as well as affording him complete awareness of his own bodily state.

Mental Compartmentalization: A skill essentially embodying quantity over quantity, the practitoner, rather than having a perfect memory or other similar mental techniques, is able to create numerous rooms of intellect to multitask in ways which a normal person cannot, due to the brain usually only having one train of thought that it must rapidly switch between to properly multitask. Instead, the user is able to carry multiple of these to allow for more compartmentalized thought processes and allow them to quickly grasp things through learning numerous details at once and connecting them together

Acrobatics: Xander is quite acrobatic, being able to be flexible in ways humans are not able to usually be and is thus extremely agile in combat.
