Blackbeard has a non-traditional Logia type devil fruit. He is made of darkness, when he is hit by an attack, he turns into darkness, like a normal Logia type. Instead of dispersing like a normal Logia type, the darkness Blackbeard is made of absorbs the attack. Blackbeard can also spread out his darkness, absorb whatever his darkness is touching, like a city, then expel it if he wants to

You're confusing logia intangibility with dispersion.

Dispersion is like Enel: Who can become a lightning.

Logia Intagibility is like almost every logia: Akainu, Aokiji, Borsalino, etc. (They can not be cut/shot,etc)

Blackbeard can't become darkness or do some dispersion. He only way can use the darkness is gravity and to absorb damage (like he did with Ace's lance of fire) (and negate devil fruit powers)

Respira works from the outside inwards, otherwise Soi-fon's arm would've been destroyed instantly rather than the bone being affected later on. He could not stop attacks that were too close for him to instantly destroy via aging.

Blackbeard can just absorb all of respira via Black hole along with Barragan.
