BAN-KAI! Bleach General Discussion

shouldn't nemu be given mayuri as part of his standard equipment
It would be more that they're valid examples to use for team match ups per the rules rather than Nemu is treated as a piece of gear.

Uryu did allat talking down on Ichigo and egoistic nerd talk just to get humbled in 14 chapters 🙏🏽😹

It's kinda insane how VIZ's Bleach is filled with TL errors, lotta these affect how shinigami reiatsu functionality is interpreted

That’s just not a meaningful translation difference…
one implies his reiatsu would destroy himself by somehow exploding, the other talks about him vanishing if it's allowed to run wild which goes along with Uryu in the previous chapter regarding open valves running dry very quickly in reference to sp

how is it not different? it's two different effects

OK buddy, I knew it wasn't a good idea to take this as fact.

I double-checked your translation, and it's disingenous to claim this is a good example of a mistranslation:

ここで黒崎の力が暴走すれば霊体である彼自身は恐らく消滅する・・・!

This translates to:
If Kurosaki's power runs wild here, his spirit body will likely be annihilated...!

The important part here is "消滅する," and it translates to: "to disappear, to be annihilated."

Literally the valid translations are what you gave and what viz said. They both mean the same thing, Viz just chose the more interesting translation, because this is supposed to be read for entertainment. The purpose of a viz translation isn't to learn japanese with a robotic translation, it's to entertain yourself while reading manga. It's not even wrong.

It's kinda normal that any VIZ translation is filled with TL erros.
Viz's Bleach translation has a ton of mistakes, but few radically change the meaning. A casual reader doesn't care about the mistakes they made.

No it's not, his spiritual body exploding/vanishing/ Ichigo dying because of his own reaitsu is consistent with that.

Him draining himself to non-existence isn't what they're saying.

you're cherrypicking one possible definition and ignoring the 4 other core meanings saying "extinguishment / vanish / disappear"
explosion does not fit here and while I'm no expert in the word it seems that the annihilation comes from something disappearing (e.g. me ending you via erasing you from existence)

why?

We've never heard of people literally draining themselves into non-existence. How would it even work? Would the entire body just go poof? Would it happen by each bodypart?

Them just dying, vanishing, exploding, or anything like that actually makes sense. We've literally seen someone like Zaraki nearly do this when he went Bankai. His body couldn't handle his own power, so he started falling apart.

After reading the series, it should be obvious that Uryu is saying that's what's gonna happen to ichigo.

actually yeah this does make sense to me now that I think about it, seeing ichigo fall down after his valve was opened would imply him being physically afflicted, uryu saying an open valve would quickly run out made me think it was the other way around at first

The ones that stand out most to me is that they shortened Rukia's thoughts about how humans interact with spirits massively and they're pretty bad with distance translations (100 mile radius Mayuri poison or the stuff with Ri/spirit mile distances).

But Ichigo's body exploding isn't a mistranslation or a plot hole in my view.

I've seen people argue using the infinite universe statement in chapter 51, which turns out to have neither infinite or universal in the raws

Btw, can someone tell me why muken isn't considered infinite on this wiki? Is it bcz of 13blades? Pretty sure that's merely a misstranslation, also, its canonicity and validity are EXTREMELY questionable at best

We probably have 4 or more statment about its infinite ( include non canon) having one statment like" its like infinite" Why change anything i dont know

So, it is accepted as infinite? I thought it wasn't, lmao. This would give the likes of senjumaru high uni via an infinite amount of energy being required to shake an infinite space.
