I don't hate any characters, but one of the I don't like is definitely Yamamoto. Himself is probably the biggest loser in the series, no one other character has failed so much in proportion to the power he has.

The big three exist because each series were topping sales charts around the same time. That's that. You can't throw in any series before or after it, because they exist so far apart, relatively speaking.

How was he supposed to be more cautious? Royd Lloyd perfectly copied Yhwach's memories so that there would be nothing to give away that he was the fake Yhwach.

The situation here is that Yamamoto couldn't kill Yhwach 1000 years ago, but now he thinks he can do it by attacking Yhwach directly.
Even though he knew Quincys could steal Bankai, he foolishly believed that his Bankai could not be stolen, even by Yhwach. He doesn't acted cautiously and attacked Yhwach directly, without waiting to figure out how the theft of the Bankai took place.
Yamamoto had seen a lot of what Aizen could do, but even after all that, he still told Aizen "don't think of yourself as anything" and didn't even believe that Aizen could cut him. Even when Aizen cut him, he didn't think anything was wrong.
Yes, he couldn't know Wonderwiess exist. But he already had been underestimating Aizen from the very beginning.

And no, he can't fight him in shikai , even a weaker clone was easily matching him without blut and he already know that Yhwach can survive a full on direct blow from East. What is shikai gonna do ?
Yama's plan was the get stabbed by aizen so he could bypass KS. Without that, there is nearly nothing he could do. Yama was goading Aizen.

If Yamamoto had the power to kill Yhwach 1000 years ago, why didn't he use all of his Bankai to do it? This is a road that leads to the same place at both ends.
Same Yamamoto does not hesitate to burn many captains, many people and a city to ashes to kill Aizen... Also Mayuri already knew that they could not win without using their Bankai and there would be destruction.
No, Yamamoto realized that he was not under the influence of Kyoka Suigetsu through reiatsu. With Kyoka Suigetsu, Aizen could make Yamamoto feel like he was already injured.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Yama believe that he killed Yhwach 1000 years ago? And technically he was right. The Kaiser Gaseng mentioned that it would take 900 years for Yhwach to regain his pulse. Being without a pulse means that your dead.

As I remember, we didn't see the end of the battle between Yhwach and Yamamoto. He may not have seen the need to completely reduce Yhwach to ashes and left him as a corpse. You are right.
