Attack on Titan discussion thread

Criticism is a very valuable tool when it comes to any future writing for both the author and writers to be, criticism can be extreme and overly negative but it’s necessary

Not sure what you're trying to say. Nobody can anticipate a story to have a shit ending, especially something that lasted for an entire decade. You can't regret doing something before doing it.

Has there anyone who has actually shat on Isayama in this thread? This discussion is pretty chill compared to places like titanfolk. I think your frustration is misplaced.
I know, like i said i just being tired

I still find regret readed it was too disrespectful tho

I actually think the AoT ending is good, after some rethinking. I just wish it wasn’t so rushed.
Being rushed can make any ending bad.
The direction was already extremely controversial to begin with.
But because it was rushed, Isayama didn't flesh out the necessary things and even left plot threads unfinished or poorly explained. Making the ending hollow and unfulfilling, and not in a good way.

Probably the most frustrating thing for fans of the series is that it went from 100 to 3 in the span of a few chapters.
This isn't like Tokyo Ghoul where its quality has already been questionable since the early arcs and has already set your expectations for it (and its ending still disappointed in a way, Kaneki living the good life in the end being one of the few good things you can say about it). Attack on Titan was a masterpiece for most, until the ending.

I disagree on Tokyo ghoul's quality being bad from the get-go.

Tokyo Ghoul became trash writing wise after cochlea in part two. Half of that arc itself was pretty bad.

I didn't say it was bad. I said the quality was already questionable since the early arcs. Some of it were great, some were bad, and there are mixed bags. The flaws the original TG had was just made more apparent in TG:Re. Disjointed story points, character developments or the characters themselves being abandoned, among other things.
So with those already happening early in the series, the way TG:Re ended didn't surprise me nor was I that bothered by it (except for Akira and Amon being ******* nowhere to be seen).

Most of the added pages are leaked in low quality (except for the AU bonus which is in decent quality), but the last page is said to not be leaked yet.

Attack on School might be the only thing I like about this, it's always been kinda funny to me since AoT itself rarely has any comedy.

I'm sure the Survey Corps "drug dealing" in past AoS additions is a subtle foreshadowing of the amount of copium the AoT fandom would consume.

The extra chapters are out.
TBF it doesn't do much other than affirm people's expectations of what would happen after 139, Beren and Mikasa having a family aside.

So, from what I understood, Mikasa married Jean or whoever he is. She kept visiting Eren, until she died. After that a war happened, and a kid reached that tree which we know nothing about

I have a theory that this kid heard stories about this, he seemed to be searching, so maybe after all the wars, he wanted to find peace, just as Eren, and so the story continues

Armin introduces himself as the Eren Slayer, Mikasa ***** off with Eren's head, buries it in a hilltop somewhere. As she grows old (she also marries Jean or a lookalike) she frequently visits Eren's grave. Paradis progresses until it looks like they at least reach a more modern level of technology if the buildings are any indication. But war continues and what the rest of that 20% that Eren spared in his global genocide, bombs Paradis regardless.

Since there are survivors in Paradis, we can only assume that the enemy of Paradis perhaps got bombed by Paradis as well, seeing how they didn't have enough resources to completely purge Paradisians.

Then many years later when nature as taken over Paradis, we see Beren discovering the tree where Eren was buried in, which over the years we see grow larger and larger until it resembles the original tree that contained Hallu-chan. Implying that the power of the titans would resurface in a post-apocalyptic Paradis.

Still hoping they change the ending.
Not that it would happen, but even if it did, it had to make sense with the previous arc, which had glaring problems that now wouldn't be changed.
People hate on the ending primarily, and the final chapter specifically, but there were problems way before it, ever since the shiganshina arc.

Ooooooou! Do tell me your issues. As much as I love attack on titan, it gets kinda tiresome how everyone just repeats it's the best series ever created.

I don't really wanna go over things that everyone else has gone over, over and over and over again. The Alliance, Connie trying to feed Falco to his mom, the entire shelved Historia plotline, abusing the Paths as a crutch to explain things, Eren's entire existence, etc.

I will mention something that's often overlooked, and that's how Mikasa's character was hinted to have a better trajectory during the Liberio arc (her questioning Eren's decisions and actions) but it went nowhere. That was the soul of the old/pre-timeskip/Trost Mikasa suddenly manifesting only to be buried to the depths of obscurity.
