All Purpose Dragon Ball Thread

In fairness, at least in the context of Dragon Ball: Goku and Vegeta Jr are both 1/64th Saiyan, yet they're able to transform into Super Saiyans. And if you want to look at other material like Dragon Ball Online, that game takes place hundreds of years after the end of the original manga and where Saiyan blood has spread out so thinly, yet Earthlings still have the potential to become Super Saiyans if they use the Dragon Balls to wish for it.

So even if they were to have little DNA, there'd still be a modicum of Saiyan blood regardless of how spread out it is.

oh yeah, Humans are supposed to have such a low genetic difference, but is that low genetic difference what allows us to have all our differences?

I hate how random DB is with lifting strength feats it's so silly sometimes. Toriyama is the GOAT but bro really hated math or something.

Like how does Goku go from pushing a massive boulder as a kid during Roshi's training to using 100 kilograms of weighted clothing as a training method when he's like a million times stronger. How does Goku struggle with 10x gravity on King Kai's Planet when he didn't even notice it as an infant child with a power level of 2 (plus 10x gravity would only make him like maybe 1 ton). And then there's the 40 ton thing obviously.

Buu Saga character's should be able to rip apart neutron stars with their brute strength lmao.

When you look into it, it's not actually random,
From OG DB, their lifting strength has been sequestered into two groups
Normal lifting - basically picking things up, bench pressing, combat applicable
Body weight - wearing weighted clothing/gravity training
.it's somewhat similar t the combat speed and travel speed difference imho

Basically;
1) When Goku pushes the first boulder, calced at about 40 tons, he's also training with 10kg or so weighted clothing
2) When Goku and krillin then push the much larger boulder, (about 300-500+ tons iirc) the train with 40kg weights
3) At the tournament, Goku tosses a Giant piccolo (whose body weight alone was about 160 tons) yet isbweighed down by 250 pounds weifted clothing
4) 40 tons thing was also weighted clothing, but as the data books explained, using bukijutsu with weights is extremely difficult

Then when it comes to gravity, it's treated more as an adaptive thing in DB
1) Goku was born on planet Vegeta yet struggled initially under 10x, he wasn't weaker than when he was a baby
2) post Frieza Gohan, who's thousands of time stronger than any average Saiyan, struggled under 10x gravity when he first experienced it, his lifting strength isn't less than those Saiyans

Super anime is the one that seemed to unite both

It’s been four days and you’re still dragging about the universe having 4000 planets, which you yourself know is just not true anyways
it is true in this series at least, even if it does not make sense...unless shin is stupid (which i will not be surprised if it is the case, because he is basically the most useless character in the entire story)

more strange, also even in the manga they said that the universe has a edge and a center.
edge of infinity and the center of infinity are also concepts in fiction

i personally don’t care about the size of dragonball’s cosmology but these aren’t new concepts; comic books use them quite alot

I have a question, i don't think many people paid attention to this feat in Dragon Ball GT, anyways.

In the Super 17 saga.

Both, Hellfighter 17 and regular 17 power up (Both powered by hell itself aswell, iirc).
And then, both fuse their auras/energy and further opened the hole in the Sky.

Now what's important, in context. Dr Myu said the power resonated by both Androids effectively merged the living world and the Afterlife, and thus the Universal merge is further reitered in the show by the supreme Kai, Shenlong, and even 17 himself, so it wasn't merely a gate opener or the like. Both worlds now being stuck together.
Which means, the two space-time continuums mereged aswell, no longer being separated, having consequences like old villians Goku fought in the past coming back to life, etc.

Now I wonder, it's this a Low 2-C or 2-C feat?

except that in dragon ball, it is made pretty clear that the universe is not infinite at all.

except that in comic books, it is done completely different, most of them say the universe is infinite, and the characters still manage to cross it, most others say it is not infinite, most others not only say that the universe is infinite, but that there are infinite universes and there is even a "edge"which in reality, it is just a way to say that after adding more infinites, and another plane of existence, there is a end to a vast cosmology.
but Dragon ball hardly has this, man, all the times there is a infinite universe mentioned, it is always outside, not inside, and when it is inside the series, they outright negate the idea that the universe is infinite.

how do they “negate” the idea?
we know the universe has a edge, a center, we have seen many times it is circular and spherical, man you can even see this:

does this look like a "infinite"universe to you?and even if you say "you can't show actual infinite"ok, but still, they made pretty clear that the universe is not infinite.
also Goku is able to teleport to the afterlife, even when his teleportation, has a range limit.

There so many infinite universes in fiction that are depicted as bubbles in a void of space. Even in comic books like marvel or dc that have like, hundreds of statements all calling their universes infinite by cosmic entities, there are still times they are depicted just like that.

One of the most famous Presence images of all time is of him holding all of creation seen from outside as a white sphere.

There are many reasons to not think of DB universe as actually infinite, but depictions or map of the universe not being literally infinite in size for sure isn't one of them.

sounds like a proper 2-C feat if i had to guess but I know nothing about anything tier 2 and up, so DONT take my word for it

except that again, they have many more statements than dragon ball has, and they have inside their own series.

same from above.

it is, specially when there has been many, and i say this, many showings of it not being infinite.

Tell me, how many statements should be needed to conceptually change your perception about that? If there's a point in which such perception can change that is.
a statement in the same series, that is not based on external material (like most statements here) and that is at least consistent, because that is what Dragon Ball needs to be.

this isn’t enough to substantiate your claim…

again “edges” and “centers” of infinity are common uses in fiction

infinite realms are also usually depicted as bubbles in fiction as well..

the multi dimensional macrocosm of Marvel 616 is literally shaped like a man and DC’s infinite universe is also a “bubble” in bleed space.

these aren’t good counter arguments.

Marvel and DC universes have their fair share of finite statements as well. Weird double standard saying they're infinite but DB's cannot be.

kinda it’s more consistent that they’re infinite and more plausible.
cosmic entities who embody parts of the cosmologies claim it to be infinite.

i wouldn’t say a double standard
this guy is just forming pretty bad arguments

except that how many of them have statements in their own series of it being infinite?i am talking in the series, not outside of it (which is where most of the statements come from)

properly
it being a bubble isn’t a good argument bc you can’t actually draw infinity.
an edge or center of infinity is also a common concept in fiction (again)
those shows at least tell you many times they are infinite, dragon ball?does not even remotely say that in its own series, actually again, it gets contradicted in the same series, where Goku is able to teleport to the afterlife, even when his teleportation has a range limit.

they have more mentions of infinite, is not even double standard

Of course they have "more" statements, they have over 150 years of content between them with close to thousands of writers.

But "consistent" is not the word I would use whatsoever.

What's absurd to me is there's more of a willingness to allow these verses to have an infinite universe, despite the next author coming along either ignoring it or straight up contradicting it then there is for DB to have an infinite universe, in spite of the fact 1 man wrote every canon piece of material up until at least DBS where Toyo and Toei are prominent in their respective media.

Man, if Toriyama wanted his universe to be infinite, he wouldn't make it complicated and make it canonical, he could have done it in Dragon Ball Daima (and he didn't) in fact with Daima he set himself the double challenge of making the demonic realm not be an infinite realm and that all three realms were not separate space-times (from literally being able to enter another realm through a tunnel to literally Goku's Kamehameha leaving a hole and making the water from a realm above fall to the realm below)
