Alien vs Predator Canonicity

There is any reason for the Alien vs Predator series to be considered canon to both Alien and Predator franchises?

Alien vs Predator was never meant to be canon to both series, they don't exist in the same universe.

Especially with the latest Alien movies (Prometheus and Alien Covenant), which invalidate even further this notion.

There shouldn't be any scaling between Yautja and Xenomorph.

Meaning Alien's 8-A for Praetorian, Predalien and Queen should be drop, while Predator's 8-A should remain valid only for his Plasmacaster (assuming the comic is still considered canon).

bump.

I know this is an months old thread, but i feel like this is something important to discuss.

I believe the Predator 2 Yautja has a Xenomorph skull in its trophies, and I think the AVP comics are set in the future, though I couldn't tell you if they're canon at all, let alone canon to Alien.

The Xenomorph skull is probably an easter egg, it wasn't meant to be seriously.

And unless the AVP comics can be fit with the both Alien and Predator lor, it very likely that it would only be canon to the AVP series.

That might be the case, yes. I wouldn't be surprised if these profiles were made before Prometheus and then nobody just cared to revise them. Looking into it, I can't find anything on the comics being canon or not, but splitting the profiles does seem like a good idea.
