AP difference isn’t too big, does Sonic have access to any rings he can pick up or any on him? Those could sponge attacks or give him a Light Speed Dash which defends from attacks.

Alright so that plus his great resistance to heat could give him plenty of leeway in terms of making mistakes. It’s worth noting by SA2 Sonic has been able to contend with many great foes including skilled fighters like Knuckles and Shadow, Perfect Chaos who was a like thousands of years old god, military piloted machines, and Eggman who is an extraordinary genius. Doesn't seem like Hero has comparable experience or skill to knock him off his game.
