Death Battle Season Ten Discussion Thread (1) (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

The official DB discord expects a lot of new people joining it tonight

So I'm going to guess they are going to do the season trailer today and/or they really want to promote the Shark Tank-style ballot banter event on Thursday.

Gohan Blanco vs Jon Arbuckle (Dragon Ball X vs Fist of the Borf Star)
Both are protagonists of extensive mid-2010's web series that parody iconic 80's shonen manga series (Dragon Ball and Fist of The North Star), while also mixing it with other, goofier franchises (Dragon Ball X having cartoon characters like Shaggy and Shrek and Fist of the Borf Star having comic strip characters like Garfield and Charlie Brown). Said shows also rely on static imagery and text to speech. Their original versions were treated rather poorly (Gohan getting severely worse in Super and Jon having a very shitty life, plus also having a cat that mocks him), however these versions of them are badass overpowered martial artists that are messiah-like figures in their worlds. Their journeys begin with both of them fighting the antagonists that killed their loved ones (El Grande Padre, who killed Gohan's father, Goku and Garfield, who killed Jon's dog, Odie). It is later revealed, however, that these antagonists are actually related to them (El Grande Padre being Gohan's biological father and Garfield being Jon's brother) and they both begin to honour them after they die (El Grande Padre managed to redeem himself and realized his mistakes after his death, while Garfield made a noble sacrifice). Both have a spiritual connection to dead characters (El Grande Abuelo and Nermal) and can talk to them.

I imagine so and that at one point Mephisto tries to take Neron's Soul by force only for him to notice that he doesn't have a Soul and Neron punches him in the face for trying do that XD

when the Luz vs Anne cast already outperformed Mario vs Link, Nemesis vs Pyramid Head, Sly Cooper vs Lupin, Pit vs Zagreus, Wick vs Agent 47, Deku vs Gon, Ori vs the Knight, and Gordon Freeman vs Issac Clarke and is already getting close to Bowser vs DeDeDe, which is over 5 months old. I guess two tier list casts too but whatever.

Oof. Video game match-up bros, things are looking rough, a girls cartoon fight is sweeping. Only Kratos is a recent cast exception!

"WELL The finale for the TOH just came out so it had-" Nope. Most of these casts happened because there was/is a new movie or game out there so that cope doesn't work.

Anyways, no word from Brandon so I'm sad and a bit grumpy. I hope we get a trailer today or something

ToH and Amphibia are pretty hot shit right now so I’m not surprised. ToH would trend on twitter for an entire day everytime a new episode dropped lol.

Red Hood vs Jason Voorhees is the one I'd go with personally if I had to.
  • Both are named Jason.
  • They were killed and resurrected (oddly enough, both of their deaths were total retcons where it turned out both were alive the whole time but also not really...it's complicated).
  • Drastically changed in personality, with both becoming killers.
The more popular comic opponent for Jason is Solomon Grundy, but that one just seems.....eh.
