Lord of the Mysteries Discussion Thread

Why lotm has such low dc feats? Is it because losing control, oc barier or that symbolisms countering each others

I’m new here, so idk how. If someone interested he may post the matchup
Dead matchup sob 💔

I just noticed there isn't History manipulation in this wiki, would all of Klein's abilities at S4 just be attributed to other manips like "Stamina - Infinite via Historical Via Borrowing, before their Spirituality is drained, they can always Borrow energy from their own past self, with there being no limit to the number of times they can borrow it.".
Dead matchup sob 💔
the layers for both of them confused me, does Klein's CM manipulation include his offensive manifestations of his concept like Fooling have the same number of layers?

Btw what ya'll think about giving base LOTM humans 1-A hax? This would ruin all VS matches tho so I'm kinda unwilling to do that

You could just give it to the other character as well (like metaphysical equalization).
Or restrict it.
Or just let them have it and try finding other characters with similar 1A hax.
How does this hax even work anyways 🐱?

Hi
Just someone passing by(currently reading lotm for the first time, still around chapter 400-500)
Just saw the above posts and had a thought, is there unconventional resistance to dream manipulation for anyone with a profile on the verse?

Aethyr Manipulation is WORSE THAN ANYTHING MENTIONED IN HERE
Hi, sliding in... we don't have plot Manipulation. Or resistance to it.

I do have to note though, that most magic users don't have 1-A hax. That starts at Arkhan the Black. A guy who, as said by an Elf Simp, Eltharion the Grim stood zero chance against.

Most mages vary from 0 to 7 layers, and generally can't do every lore. Balthasar Gelt specializes in Chamon, Sienna specializes in Aqshy, that sort of thing.

Some have multiple lores they use, but those are generally Elves or other very high tier wizards like Arkhan, DJ Beatbox Master Khatep, Vampires, or other people you shouldn't be fighting anyways. Unless they have a name as long as the Bible, stay away from Warhammer Fantasy Mages... and if you're wondering who I'm talking about--

Settra the Imperishable, Great King, Khemrikhara, The Great King of Nehekhara, King of Kings, Opener of the Way, Wielder of the Divine Flame, Punisher of Nomads, The Great Unifier, Commander of the Golden Legion, Sacred of Appearance, Bringer of Light, Father of Hawks, Builder of Cities, Protector of the Two Worlds, Keeper of the Hours, Chosen of Ptra, High Steward of the Horizon, Sailor of the Great Vitae, Sentinel of the Two Realms, The Undisputed, Begetter of the Begat, Scourge of the Faithless, Carrion-feeder, First of the Charnel Valley, Rider of the Sacred Chariot, Vanquisher of Vermin, Champion of the Death Arena, Mighty Lion of the Infinite Desert, Emperor of the Shifting Sands, He Who Holds The Sceptre, Great Hawk Of The Heavens, Arch-Sultan of Atalan, Waker of the Hierotitan, Monarch of the Sky, Majestic Emperor of the Shifting Sands, Champion of the Desert Gods, Breaker of the Ogre Clans, Builder of the Great Pyramid, Terror of the Living, Master of the Never-Ending Horizon, Master of the Necropolises, Taker of Souls, Tyrant to the Foolish, Bearer of Ptra's Holy Blade, Scion of Usirian, Scion of Nehek, The Great, Chaser of Nightmares, Keeper of the Royal Herat, Founder of the Mortuary Cult, Banisher of the Grand Hierophant, High Lord Admiral of the Deathfleets, Guardian of the Charnal Pass, Tamer of the Liche King, Unliving Jackal Lord, Dismisser of the Warrior Queen, Charioteer of the Gods, He Who Does Not Serve, Slayer off Reddittras, Scarab Purger, Favoured of Usirian, Player of the Great Game, Liberator of Life, Lord Sand, Wrangler of Scorpions, Emperor of the Dunes, Eternal Sovereign of Khemri's Legions, Seneschal of the Great Sandy Desert, Curserer of the Living, Regent of the Eastern Mountains, Warden of the Eternal Necropolis, Herald of all Heralds, Caller of the Bitter Wind, God-Tamer, Master of the Mortis River, Guardian of the Dead, Great Keeper of the Obelisks, Deacon of the Ash River, Belated of Wakers, General of the Mighty Frame, Summoner of Sandstorms, Master of all Necrotects, Prince of Dust, Tyrant of Araby, Purger of the Greenskin Breathers, Killer of the False God's Champions, Tyrant of the Gold Dunes, Golden Bone Lord, Avenger of the Dead, Carrion Master, Eternal Warden of Nehek's Lands, Breaker of Djaf's Bonds, and many more for Settra's names require two hours to read out fully.

What does lore refer to in this verse?

basically think of them as different types of magic
To go further on this; Raw Aethyr is basically Dhar, and the amount of people who can use Dhar without being corrupted, driven mad, obliterated, or all of the above are very high-end casters or the undead. Most magic casting worshippers of Chaos worth their salt can also cast Dhar, but they're already corrupted and probably already insane so...

Hello, I'm planning to start reading this series. Is there anything I should know beforehand?

Anyone managing the profiles, I was just surfing through them when I saw Amon has type 1 BDE, shouldn't it be type 3 because of the nature of Astral World, qualitive superiority and all?

Every once in a while when I haven’t read fiction for quite a bit and my memory gets blurry and shit, I always think “man, was LOTM really that good?” and then I go and reread some of the good parts of the series and always go “oh damn, literally nothing in fiction is as good as this. I wish book 3 existed” and always become reminded why I glaze this series so hard

What’d you recommend I reread?
It’s been a while, the last thing I reread was the Beltaine City arc just cause, I haven’t reread anything else.

Vortex Ritual is always a good read. You can also read all the important fights too (Fool’s Gambit, Utopia Invasion, Apocalypse…)
