UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE [shiny new] DISCUSSION THEAD

Oh alright. I think it's possible though that the Prophecy can be AWARE of the Weird Route without directly mentioning it. Considering that it manifests no matter how you try to change it though (based on Chapter 4), maybe not.

We find a way...Toby finds a way.
Ralsei strongly implies the WR breaks the prophecy and the Queen's chariot prophecy doesn't happen on the WR

In Japanese it's: "The girl finds out the true meaning of love." Wordplay is still possible
My point here is that the Level of Violence wordplay doesn't even work in Japanese at all. In the Japanese localization, Flowey for example just says "LOVE" in English and not in Japanese

In the prophecy, it's just normal love not LV.

You're using Japanese to say that a wordplay is possible despite not even working in Japanese.

Got a question on the whole 'Deltarune characters ignore range' thing...... why?

Like, yeah I can understand the sentiment given they are shown to attack characters from far away with their attacks....... but it's not depicted as via space manipulation. The attack animations and the actual attacks landing have a gap in time between both of them, a notable one at that. That, alongside the fact that these are reactable attacks (thanks Gerson) means they shouldn't be treated as just spawning attacks onto the target but instead a projectile.

Functionally, this changes literally nothing, but gives better reasonings on how it works (Side note: Spamton Neo shouldn't be an example for it since they are doing that with ACTs, not one of their normal attacks. Everyone does a cool pose when hitting them instead of striking normally)
  1. There simply was not a better option at the time on how to rate these attacks, them being like a projectile is also meh as the strike seems to be coherent with the kind of blow they inflict.
  2. It was implemented in 2024, aka before the Ch 3 and 4 were released.
  3. If you have better suggestions that would replace space manipulation tell so, please.

As me and another user agreed, it being listed as simple range works just fine since characters are just allowed to do that stuff. Just because an attack can occur elsewhere doesn't mean the user is manipulating space for it, as that is a rather specific interpretation for a rather demanding ability type (it also makes little sense to decribe it as ignoring range and then proceeding to give it an exact range).

It being a projectile or simply a normal range attack doesnt matter since both interpretations just lead to the basic attacks being listed as pure range without any specific abilities listed to it. Which is the safest classification until Toby decides to 4th wall break during combat to just say "magic or something idk"

(The actual hit being coherent with the attack doesnt really matter since it doesnt need to be a straight line. EX: Kris swinging his sword and the projectile starts moving when the blade starts swinging, causing the start of it to hit the opponent before the end creating a slashing motion)

Tbh the idea was for it ignoring distance as long as it's within a precise range, but yeah I can get behind it.

I suppose that simply listing it as extended melee strikes in P&A without giving to it any real power works.

Yeah, only other complaints on current profiles i have are general Darkners having immortality. Since IRL objects aren't considered immortal since eventually everything erodes away from time.

Nothing indicates Darkners are inherently immortal from this, with plenty of them deriving from objects with short life expectancies (like playing cards). Naturally this differs greatly from object to object and how they are handled IRL (Gerson's hammer is 2 billion percent giving him longevity), but someone like Jackenstein isnt lasting forever as a pumpkin

Does anyone have any matchup ideas for the Delta Warriors (together or individually), Gerson, and The Roaring Knight now that they're going to be Tier 7-B really soon?

Since they'll get that possibly star level rating could have Kris fight The Batter with speed equalized. Would be a thematically cool match up

Ahhhh, unfortunate.
Though, after some thinking, maybe Post Fear Boost Yoru or Yoru (Post nukes whenever the CSM scale her) could be a match up.
Post Fear Boost Yoru has City level scaling (With bang) and big range with her gun gauntlet, has mountain level scaling with gun goddess bullets, and (with speed equal since it'll be the only way the match can happen) faster Attack speed that'll give her a chance against getting utterly cooked by UT/DT Soul damage shenanigans

Very important!

I haven't even finished the calc and it's already on reddit.

Why are you using nimbostratus cloud? Thunder is produced by cumulonimbus clouds. They characteristics are laid out in clouds page. And also, thunder being distant doesn't mean that much, 1 km thunder can be considered distant too. Better to use average thunderstorm radius, which is 12 km.
Btw, CGM still can evaluate it, and prolly should. It would just lay down useless till we get UES

Toby Fox reading this (he just wanted to make two funny looking weather based characters):

Hey everyone, all Deltarune profiles are now being updated!
Oh yes, and I found this

How well would the Roaring Knight handle a severe AP disadvantage? 14.21x difference to be exact

This guy?

This guy?
Yeah, outside of the usual soul stuff or ability spam that's just about all the Knight has

I mean its a character who we know practically nothing about who's only had one fight not even trying. Practically all the stuff we've seen from them revolves around obliterating lesser foes.

I remember hearing light world had feats that needed to be calced, what are the new feats that might upscale them?
