That was literally "additional details" as to charybdis's revival, not something that outright contradicts the WN plot-line.Volume 2 when the clowns shows up
Besides, this is what the author said so too, that the MAIN plot is the same. The only differences are the extra side stories and additional details:
AFTERWORD
Hello there! Fuse here. First of all, I’d like to thank you for picking up this book.
This volume is a heavily revised, rewritten, and expanded version of a story originally released on the web. This work, as I’m sure some of you know, is still being released on syosetu.com, a Japanese language website for online novelists and storytellers. The side story and other extra material in this particular book are all original to this volume, crafted for followers of the web version to enjoy.
If this is a completely new tale to you, I’d like to suggest that you check out the web version as well. The main plot is the same between both versions, but you’ll also find a fair number of differences here and there, so I imagine it could be fun to compare the two for yourself.
This is the first time I’ve ever written an afterword, and figuring out what I should write in it has made me slightly nervous. As a result, I suppose I should write a word or two of thanks to the original forces that brought this book to life.
There are probably similar statements in TenSura X in the Convo between I-san and Fuse, so I'll look into those later too. But the point is the same, those little differences count as additional details. And the differences are so small that it doesn't really contradict the WN at large. And as Fuse himself said, during these volumes, he was using the WN as a base for the LN version, expanding it basically.AFTERWORD
This is Fuse. Good to see you—for the first time, or not. I’m once again tasked to write an afterword for this book, so I thought a bit about what I should write. I’m the kind of person who likes reading the afterword first, and there are times when I commit to buying a book based on what I see there. I mean, it’s rare for me to decide against a purchase because of that, but there are at least a few times when the afterword made me think “Yeah, let’s go with this!” So even though this is just the second afterword I’ve ever written, the process is already starting to make me nervous.
This second volume is a revised edition of the original web version, with a bunch of rewrites and additions to cover things that didn’t get enough attention online. I was planning to write a bonus chapter for this volume as well, but we wound up adding so much to the main text that we ran out of pages and I had to give up on it.
The story still uses the web version as a base, diving even deeper into the story than ever before and even going in completely different directions. How did you like it? If you’re familiar with the original, hopefully you’ll see it as a much deeper tale than before. It’d be nice if I managed that, at least.
Speaking of that, I have now officially completed the web version of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. I have a few ideas for extra content and side stories to tackle, but either way, it’s done. Now it’s time to work on the published editions, and I hope to continue receiving your support as I wend my way through this!
