Sometimes I make minor changes on a profile if the writing on it is inconsistent. Mihawk was already AP-scaling based on being capable of fighting Shanks, so I noted that in his speed section to prevent confusion.

you can't scale him to shanks in speed if all you're using is more than 12 years ago shanks, that's not how that works, you'd have to prove shanks is the same as that old shanks... Which he isn't

Silly Oda, he had the easiest opportunity to say Mihawk is outright stronger when Brannew introduced his bounty but didn't and chose to mention Mihawk waas only superior in sword skills (and hiding behind Buggy's shadow for his protection from the nasty marines).

Not only is it confirming that Mihawk has greater sword skill than Shanks, it's also reconfirming that Mihawk is the strongest swordsman in the world. Now what is Shanks? A swordsman! In other words, the reconfirmation of Mihawk as the strongest swordsman in the world is also outright confirmation that he's stronger than Shanks! And no amount of cope will ever change that!

The whole phrase refers only to sword skill. This doesn't mean Mihawk is stronger than Shanks. Shanks is only ever referred to as a kengo (swordsman) and is never called a daikengo (Great Swordsman) like Vista, Wano Zoro or Ushimaru but is obviously stronger than all 3 of them. Sword skill and strength are separated in the verse.
