7-C Tiersetter Tourney

JTpywZJ.gif

Did you know that Geats winning a tournament is lore-accurate, due to the fact that he keeps winning Desire Grand Prixs for over 2 millennia?

I'm very happy with how it ultimately turned out.
What's your favourite moments in this tourney?
What's your favourite and least favourite fight or something?

What's your favourite moments in this tourney?
Zooming into a single moment is tough, but I think I'd have to say Laxxius' submission post.

Beyond it being the first bit of engagement with this tourney, it involved a wide array of very very interesting picks. I just wish most of them didn't end up being out of tier, or nigh-useless due to a lack of knowledgeable debaters for them.
What's your favourite and least favourite fight or something?
Favourite fight I think would have to be Isamu vs Geats, it had a really healthy and nailbiting debate.

Least favourite was the very first match. Starting off the tourney with two DQs was quite the sour note.

Hibiki or Gold Xtreme W moment?

Only if they can not stomp the **** out of Thrall

With this being mentioned in Reaper's new thread, I'd be remiss to not mention my chain of inspirations.

This idea ultimately has its root in the WhoWouldWin Subreddit's Great Debate Tournaments, which selects entrants based on them having a fair match against a designated tiersetter. This doesn't easily port over to VSBW, due to it more focusing on judging debate skills of the people joining, than on having a community at large discuss which character would win.

Back in 2020 (wow) Dargoo ran a bracket based on that. I don't know much about how that actually played out, but I was astonished that it didn't become the main way of doing brackets going forward.

I took inspiration from both of those when coming up with these rules, and I'm overjoyed to see Reaper carrying it forward :3

Funny how things are sometimes, seeing how I pretty much stole the same idea from the same place not long ago. Though it never went anywhere.

No surprise he did, considering that he also was a judge at the Great Debate Tournament on Reddit that year.
Which, I guess, means the idea was taken from there on three independent occasions lol
