the word used is 重ね合わせ which translates practically directly to "superimposed" on a second look
i guess it's more like they exist in the same place at the same time overlapping yet aren't mixed into one? the same way when you superimpose 2 images, you overlay one on the other and they occupy the same space but they're still separate
