Halo General Discussion Thread

I see there has never been a Halo general discussion thread in this wiki's entire existence. Well I guess I'll do it even though Halo is surprisingly niche here.

Basically this is the same as any other discussion thread, discuss anything related to Halo. Plot, games, characters, lore, etc, etc.

It can be dropped anytime. I keep saying I'm gonna post it, then procrastinate cause I'm like" Did I miss something?" Lol, but seriously I swear to post it today after I submit some recent calcs to the calc group.
Including the Self-Destruct?

Here's the passage

...then a silver light flashed through the jungle and Veta felt instantly sunburned. She would have screamed, but before her mouth could open, the air left her lungs and the chest crushing weight of a compression wave stomped down. The weight vanished just as quickly. Veta raised her head to find a snarl of toppled trunks where there had once been jungle. About twenty meters ahead, the devastation ended at the rim of a huge, cliff walled canyon--the Well of Echoes no doubt

The booming din of exploding ordinance erupted behind her, and Veta looked back to find two heaps of folded metal sitting atop the scorched flat where Blue Team had abandoned its Warthogs. If not for the orange tracer rounds cooking off in all directions, she would've never recognised the mounds as crashed Wyverns.

"What did that?"

"Fred's Armor"

God damn. Was that one of the older sets? If so then you can scale all the newer ones to it as well.
This happened in 2553 so it would be a MKVI feat, but the older and newer armors should have a comparable self destruct.

The passage doesn't make it clear what exactly happened to the Wyverns. I don't know if "folded heaps" can be interpreted as fragmentation. But the blast was big enough that flying Wyverns were knocked out by it. But again, I have no idea how high above the ground the Wyverns might've been.

Perhaps you could ask some calc group members what's best since it sounds like frag to me at the very least. Obliterating those trees sounds impressive though.

I'll probs calc it anyway. Miss 100% of the shots you don't take after all.

Also bit busy tonight, so I won't be posting anything unfortunately.

The Hunter Captain should get portal creation and the Goliaths should get Forcefield Creation. They don't this in the multiplayer but this is actual in-canon story so it supersedes multiplayer balancing.

This dude is different.

This is a demon.

4 part series. What could've been....

It seems highly likely the imbeciles at 343I could be going ahead with a Halo CE remake (????). But it gets worse, one of their directors is someone who despises firearms. Like...why would you work on a shooter if that were the case? Tbh I think Halo is doomed, it had its time in the spotlight, but it will soon be nothing but a memory. My other favorite game series, TES will likely suffer a similar fate with its next game.

Maybe this is why Halo has such a niche following on VSBW.

😭😭😭😭😭😭

Halo's fate is to be shared by all video game franchises at some point, or maybe this is the fate for any work of fiction. It either fades into obscurity, or painfully mutate into shareholder friendly live service slop where plot is sidelined in order to chase the Fortnite/Overwatch gravy train.

I miss Pre-2010s Bungie.

And perhaps persisted through books and comics like Legends Star Wars did. That would've been a better fate I suppose.
I agree. But get rid of the stupid Human-Forerunner war shit because that made zero sense even if there wasn't a retcon about the Forerunners not being Ancient Humanity.

That and weren’t a few sangheili willing to side with us? There were some members that did join humanity
No, that was after the first game where Humanity is essentially at Death's door and then the Covenant betrayed the Sangheili for Thel's failure to protect Halo from the humans, which they only found by pure happenstance due to a random slipspace jump.

Btw what are the coolest weapons in halo in your opinion

I like the energy sword and the needler

Don't you have an Xbox 360 or PC?

I'm biased towards all the sniper rifles since sniping was one of my favorite things to do in Halo. After that is probably the Energy Sword for me, specifically the Bloodblade because I'm a **** for both that shade of red, especially in Energy based attacks/weapons.

I remember there was that Japanese like sword in halo I forgot what it was called but I heard it’s very good
