If he was weaker, maybe. Madness and Fear manipulation out of their Ren is just by their sheer power, as it bypasses Nen Resistance from weaker opponents. Thus, why Pouf, despite being somewhat weaker than Youpi and Pitou, is not affected by it.

Why would madness and fear be referred as "crush", lmao? No, Nen causes your body to literally be "crushed" by aura and your imminent death. Fear and Madness are only the initial effects of exposure.
