@Dark Wouldn't that be game mechanics? Rings are only mentioned in-canon once for a throwaway line in Generations.
The thing with Archie Metal Overlord seems like speculation. If anything, that would be a Post-Gen only sort of thing due to Metal Overlord not even existing in the Pre-Gen continuity.

Rings are canon. They are used for currency and making ships. But NEVER as a source of energy for the Super forms since the Emeralds have unlimited power.

Yeah it's unlocked. Knuckles doesn't have a tier 2 key.

I said his profile was unlocked because he doesn't have a tier 2 key. Tier 2 profiles get automatically locked.
