So, Xenoblade characters are listed as having Information Manipulation (Type 2) on their profiles.

Data Manipulation, Memory Manipulation, Soul Manipulation, and Information Manipulation (Type 2) (Has shown twice to be able to manipulate Core Crystals, which contain a Blade's Life Force, Data, Information, and Mind, and thus should be able to manipulate these aspects)

However, I don’t see how this qualifies as Fundamental Information Manipulation (Type 2). it seems more aligned with Knowledge Information Manipulation (Type 1).

The justification states that characters can manipulate Core Crystals, which contain a Blade’s life force, data, information, and mind. However, these aspects (life force, data, memories, and mind) are not fundamental components of reality itself—they are more related to knowledge, consciousness, and identity.

Type 1 allows for the manipulation of the information that people or objects contain, such as altering memories, preventing knowledge from spreading, or changing stored data. The characters’ ability to manipulate Core Crystals seems to focus on controlling data and consciousness within an object rather than rewriting the fundamental information of reality.

Unless I’m missing something important?

The fact Malus said the core is exchanging information to anyone tied to the core crystals mean that information would make up the core crystal, seems pretty straightforward to me I don't see the issue here.

Their information is a fundamental part of their existence, as opposed to just being regular knowledge. That's why it's Type 2

While Malus states that the Core is exchanging information with those connected to Core Crystals, this only establishes that information is being transferred, not that information itself is the fundamental basis of Core Crystals. The presence of information within something does not necessarily mean that it is composed entirely of information in a fundamental sense.

For it to qualify as Type 2, Core Crystals would need feats where altering their information directly altering reality itself. It is just like the Core Element in The God of High School, which manipulates the laws of physics on a planet and enforces rules onto an entire race.

Info type 2 being limited to only controlling reality was never established to be the end all be all of info type 2. Numerous characters have type 2 information for attacking someone’s information which is established as a fundamental existence. This is no different with how core crystals work.

you need proof that the information is a fundamental part of reality, not just someones existence im pretty sure
Look at High-Godly Regen and you'll see otherwise. The qualification for that is body, mind, soul, and some other aspect fundamental to that person's existence, with Type 2 Information being given as an example

Not exactly, type 2 info is not solely about manipulating reality (as glassman said) the example clover used was perfect honestly, info type 2 can act as a more fundamental part of a characters existence, but also, if you remember in XB2 when Klaus was explaining what blades are ACTUALLY for. You should remember that they are essentially apart of a life cycle, becoming a titan, which then births even more blades. The information in question would be type 2 because a core crystal would then become a titan and create more blades (core crystals) that would have abilities, memories, souls/minds which would be correlated to type 2 info

Really what I think this is is just a misunderstanding of how Type 2 Info works, I get where the idea that it's about governing reality as a whole comes from, but that's not actually how it works

Honestly, I still think we should add a 3rd type of IM

Though yes, information that is fundamental for a being's existence qualifies as "fundamental information" with our current standards.
