What Calc to use just to crack an object, jot break it?

To simplify what this thread is about, I was wondering about calculating a feat which does not destroy an object but just leaves cracks on it, is it minor fragmentation for comprehensive destruction?
 
Just measure the cross-sectional area of the crack and the crack width and use that for your destruction.

It would be a super thin volume being destroyed.
