Wasted Potential

Muhammad Ali Jr. from Baki.

Actually, Baki has a serial case of doing this to 80% of characters. Ali Jr. is just the biggest offender, imo.

Reactions: Sus
Black Clover: Julius Novachrona, we saw him use like 6 total spells despite his Grimore being massive plus we never actually saw him go all out in a fight to the death.

Warhammer 40k: Anval Thawn, he was a Perpetual Grey Knight Sergeant, which is just a crazy and potentially awesome concept that they decided to just retcon by undoing his Perpetual nature and having him never resurrect.

Madness Combat: Jesus

My boy had so much potential to be a God-Tier, he also had a lot of lore and good backstory but he had to die to some gay lightning

Dragon Ball: Piccolo and Tien.

As two of the most dedicated characters to training and get stronger along with Vegeta and Goku, its a pity that they didn't get any major power ups during Z (for Tien only) and Super, if anyone else should had get any God Forms they should had be these two.

I am fine with Krillin and Yamcha not getting any God Forms and at most just a power increase, as the two never trained as much as Tien.

Gohan and Future Trunks deserve a mention, yes they did get much stronger than Trunks did get a God Form, although the way they got stronger should have been written better in my opinion to be more satisfying.

Everyone in Akame Ga Kill. There are some cool ideas shown. But I feel the show was never really given the chance to flesh itself out and was way too short. And I feel like characters deaths in there were only there for shock value and nothing else. A lot of the deaths don't really contribute to anything and are just there because... why not? The show never gives you that much of a time to give a damn about these characters, which is why a lot of them feel empty.

These. Both of these.

Also: Majin Buu from Dragon Ball.

If we had seen him do more in arcs like the U6 VS U7 Tournament and the Tournament of Power, it not only would have been cool to remind the audience of Buu's flex of versatile abilities, but it also could have had a narrative impact. Goku could have watched Majin Buu fight and got reminded of how he hoped Kid Buu would come back one day so he could fight him again. That could have been excellent foreshadowing. But no, have the gum man nap for eons.

EDIT: Pretty much every member of the original teams who's not Naruto and Sasuke (I partly wanted to have Sakura be one of the characters who wasn't wasted, because she kind of wasn't, but at the same time, she kind of was) - Seriously, some (mainly only Rock Lee and Shikamaru) may get their saucy moments, but most of the time, they get diddly-squat. This is especially the case for the female characters. Remember that Shippuden opening where Sakura, Hinata and Ino fought Konan? That would have been cool to see in the series, and would have given Konan something to do instead of merely being the equivalent of explosion tags on roids. It also would have added a sisterhood dynamic that we haven't seen (seriously, for the most part, all of the female characters are rivals and we never have organic team ups with them akin to the "she's got help" scene from Avengers Infinity War). Also, we have that statement of [I forget which number] Gates Rock Lee being comparable in Taijutsu to Sage of 6 Paths Naruto. BUT WHY DIDN'T WE SEE IT, THOUGH?!

As for Sakura, could we get an F in the chat for her? Think about it, she is the only member of Team 7 that didn't get busted abilities/powers/Bijuu handed to her at a young age, and still worked her way up to the point where she could deck Kaguya in the head (I get it, guys, it's an outlier, but still. The point is that her growth was clearly evident). Like, that's a massive progression in power, and one that she earned instead of "lol we're the reincarnations of Kaguya's grandkids" or "lol now I have two Mangekyo Sharingan and a Perfect Susanno'o (for some reason)". Still, it kind of felt like they didn't make her do much. They not only forgot to give her goals and motivations that don't revolve around Sasuke, but they also forgot to give us indication that she's still an active part of the story, which I think contributes to why many people think she's useless.

Honestly, the Naruto franchise as a whole could have been better. Same with Dragon Ball. I still love them, but I could have loved them more.

Also about characters not being given enough time to shine.

I hate how Esdeath's trio of minions were slaughtered in like, and episode after being introduced, and yet they're suppose to be some kinda large threat to our main cast. They aren't given why we should fear them, all they do is kill some fodders, but like, so can our main cast.

Bulat felt really wasted, they wanted to show him as some badass and they wanted to portray the edeath Trio as threatening because they (Or at least only one of them) can put up a fight against him, but he himself doesn't have much before hand to make us nervous for what'll happen.

Also Wave was completely useless. I like how the show tried to have him as some rival to Tatsumi or like his opposite but just... didn't and forgot why wave was even there.

I could go on more, but that would take way too long.

Facts. What a fool I was for reading AGK even when everyone else told me not to.... I met awesome characters just to see them get ripped away from me. And Akame, who's still an interesting character, but the least interesting out of them all imho, is the one who lives in the end.

Jokes aside, I like the storyline, just wish they didn't essentially TPK everyone but Akame the borderline DMPC.

seriously you just destroyed me right now
😥

can someone cheer me up?

What do you mean lol?
It's an expression that means you're telling us something we already know. But yeah. You think after Cell and Goku being gone for 7 years, as well as the Buu Saga happening, that Gohan would be more apt to train, being both a scholar and a warrior. Honestly, Videl getting pummeled followed by him getting jumped by the Supreme Kai, Spopovich and Yamu would be ample motivation for him to keep training... But he doesn't.

I get it, he doesn't fight for fun, he's not like Goku. But, when you come to the conclusion that it's OK to fight to protect (a conclusion he came to 7 years prior to that the Videl beatdown and subsequent events afterwards), you'd think that'd be more incentive to keep training and not to double down on the studying so much that you actually lose large portions of muscle mass.

Say what you will about Toyotaro, but he can write a Gohan. Chou Gohan was based, ngl.
