Imagine being a fan of a novel series and not reading the novels. It just seems weird.
I mean, we've read every script and route. We've watched each playthrough (I've played the ones I could when I could afford them). We read each manga, databook, all of CoLA and the other written works.

We've read and listened to the Music CD and their stories. Plus, we even looked into ZUN's interviews about the world and his thought process behind specific titles (including trying to translate previously untranslated ones).

At what point do we stop being a fake fan of the series and its world, exactly? Getting a 1cc?

We all know Fuji gets a bit quirky at night heated in some discussions, but at the same time if we allow people to downgrade stuff, they should have the full right to do so. False reporting is, in my opinion, worse than an insult here and also a massive show of weakness, especially if the report reason is basically nonexistent.
I feel like people need to finally understand that they should simply accept this site for what it is - a site with a bunch of random nerds. It's not a safe heaven where you create your own verse uninterrupted, it is a site where you make something and put it in front of an audience and the audience has a right to tear it right down whenever they feel like it should happen. It is a cruel site in a way, those who realized that they can't handle it left it a while ago. Sure, being amicable is important in an eviroment that creates conflicts but we're humans and for the most part adults (or late teens). If one can't handle a kindergarten tier poke, why are they even on the internet?
This mate spitting fax right here

Man I never said the false reporting was okay or that you can't downgrade stuff. False reporting is mad stupid and frankly should be reportable itself, and if you see something wrong that should be downgraded... yeah, ****** downgrade it. I was mainly offering my two cents on why people are this way to Fuji in particular, because I don't see everyone that downgrades anything ever getting reported (at least, I don't think so, and I hope that's the case)

If I'm being honest, I've also never been too fond of the more extreme uses of the whole "if you can't handle this, why are you on the Internet?" For harmless jokes, yeah obviously, but I don't think someone being insulted and feeling offended should be met with "get thicker skin smh." That's just kind of an excuse to not improve your own behavior imo, and when everyone makes excuses for it, nothing improves

That's how I see it, anyway

I wouldn't say I've read every databook, some interviews and statements are tucked away in old guidebooks I can't easily access. That said, I've definitely read a lot of stuff most people in the western side of this fandom don't even know exists. I even own an official guidebook/CD which has next to no english documentation anywhere on the internet save for a single Facebook post and wiki citation.

Damn, can't believe the 75k words of research and countless profile reworks, verse powers, threads, and miscellaneous materials written for Touhou were all for nothing because I didn't play the games. Sad to see the revisions canceled after nearly 2 straight years of work, but it is what it is 😔
Play it, let it anger you, and then you can be free from doing any revision to Touhou, no more suffering (You'll hate the series afterwards)

Ehh, in this case specifically though, where Fuji asked if the dude's eyesight was bad like..

not only is that hardly offensive (let alone reportable), the dude even came out and said he didn't find it offensive and didn't even care about the comment. Like whoever the anonymous person is, is clearly just out to get Fuji lmfao. Yeah it's case by case, but in this case, nah. I think "get thicker skin lol" is fully warranted. People just need to grow up lol, not everything needs an "adult" (staff member) to supervise and mediate. That's how I see things like this.

We just have an issue with tribalism across a lot of verses. People who are fans of certain verses are seen as "supporters" and there is an expectation that they want upgrades and do not want downgrades. A downgrade thread is perceived by the group as a personal threat/attack, and even in the cases of mind-boggingly obvious removals some arduous debate happens just to keep the character from losing an ability.

On a macro level, someone like Fuji coming in and doing many downgrades (essentially auditing the verse) can inflame people enough that they basically hate her. It did happen with MGK, it happened with other verses. It's happened to me, I've seen it happen to Damage. I don't think it's avoidable, really, but I do think it contributes a great deal to the fact that every little thing Fuji does becomes an RVR report.

I still find it super reductive to paint that as the sole reason, because not every person downgrading verses gets reported for such a thing, but I digress

I mean, care to name anyone else with several huge verse downgrades under their belt who didn't get reported (and who isn't a staff member whose HR report we cannot read)?

If you're saying that one in isolation is not reportable, yeah, I fully agree - even if I'd just prefer if no one said things like that and maintained a healthy discussion to begin with. Though, I think it was said in response to a "this is where the misinformation begins" thing so... fair enough I guess

Like I get your view Clover, you want a friendly community that doesn't try to kill each other over the dumbest shit ever. Problem is, when a person wants to make woe to a person but knows rules well enough to avoid bans, they'll go for the throat in a different way, like false reports for example. I understand your benevolence but at the same time, humans are cruel...and I'm very humane

Yeah, and ideally, stuff like that shouldn't even be happening. That's comprised more Fuji reports, for instance, than what was ever actually reasonable. I know what I'm saying is pretty much entirely idealistic, but I would like to help foster such a friendly community

Idk, this turned from pet peeves to my personal ramblings
