Iirc the ninetails with half it's chakra overpowered 5 of the other bijuus..

the Tail beast beneath 8th and 9th were defeated by rather weak ninjas to begin with, Kisame defeat one, kakuzu and hidan defeated the 2tail, the durability should be change to 2 types, against charkra and against physical attacks, no way with mountain level durability would hidan or even kakuzu would be able to injure them, that also does not explain the several dozen times the tail ebast were injure by rather weak attacks.
obito threw a shuriken and cut the 8th tail beast tails several of them
sasuke with chidori spear cut 1 tail too, these durability are not always at 100%, so its a split durability like majority of the ninjas in the series, against charkra attacks alot of ninjas do great but when it comes to weapons or physical attacks everyone turns into crap, if anyone here has read any chinese novel with the TAo/DAo then take that as an example for durability, these energy things is never about tanking is more of creating a shield/barrier to block/offset the energy attack rather than taking it head on.
IMo majority of the defensing the tail beast vs the juubi was done not by tanking but by offsetting using their ridiculous amount of charkra to create a armor around their body, so its charkra vs charkra, and like most anime/manga with these sort of power system as long as is smilar in power they would offset each other if not outright cancel each other, physical attacks do not follow this rule
