The Commoner's Thread: The Death of SCP

Ian Flynn has made statements about Game Sonic that paint a clear picture he doesn't approve of how Sonic is typically handled in powerscaling
Ian Flynn considers Sonic to be like, Wall level and Mach 1+ and he mainly disagrees with interpretations of Sonic where he is casually FTL or as strong as a Dragon Ball Z characters (I remember him saying that he thought Trunks vs Silver Death Battle was dumb because Trunks can destroy planets and so he would obviously easily win).

Which Trunks btw?

Let's give him some slack how is he supposed to know about Archie comics lore and some higher end Sonic feats in games? DBZ feats for the most part are very explicit and visual, so it makes sense why people would think that way.

SCP was turning into creepy pasta wattpad powerscaling. I feel bad for some of the SCP scalers, mostly the ones who stuck to the core / original stuff, but on the other hand with this it's like a tactical nuke at all those crappy little tiktok / discord goon types which is cathartic

I'm happy SCP is getting the boot personally. Collab stuff like SCP is in the same realm as FanFiction, which the problem is not because of the stories inherently, the problem lies with how you can have fifty different canons that are 'equally' valid with no defining answer as to which one someone should or should not use for scaling and then someone can come along the fifty first and cram unreasonable amounts of powerscaling terms or down play it into nonexistence and how that 51st correlates to VSB. I'm glad most of the wiki here is handling the removal with dignity and grace.

I know this will make 'big news' in powerscaling circles across the net as we are oft looked to as the first stop in someone's powerscaling journey with something. So, it does my tired eyes and hands some good to see these things happening the way they are.

Seriously, tell me you knew this verse existed before I told you it did lol
Wasn't that the verse that was only "re-relaunched" by fans, because some brazillians threatened the guy to shoot him, if he didn't release the game code? Or something like that

No the code was released by a rogue dev because they intended to delete all the data.

Then after a few years it became a legit thing because NCSoft handed the IP over because the people who worked on City of Heroes in the first place were now largely high-ranking.

I prefer my version

Also, I shall use this thread to say that the wiki should had made a way to "sticky" exceptionally high profiles, I renember it seeing it in another wiki, and I found it cute....In all reality, I am okay with SCP being deleted, not only because I am still butthurt about the funny FF comic being annihilated, but because a multi author written history getting like one trillon of high tier 0, to what amounts to literal capshit-multiverse shenanigans is just bad

"Set in stone" is a pretty big stretch in my opinion. Sure, the votes seem definitive, but
  1. Recent revelations have somewhat changed opinion
  2. The votes probably are not reflective of everyone's current opinion. The votes aren't even counted properly in the OP
I personally see deleting SCP from the wiki as nothing short of a mistake and something that sets an unhealthy, even dangerous standard for the future. But, of course, you all don't care about that, double standards are your forte.

I don't feel like really anybody did, and if they did they didn't mention it. It appears to me that if anything, the want for SCP writers to be separate has only further cemented the sentiment. Regardless, everyone who said they may want to vote later has the ability to re-open it. We can't just wait forever, we've waited well past any strict grace period. We're not rushing this, it's just that it is coming to pass.

Are you interested in assisting the archival process, by the way? You're evidently very strongly in favor of keeping them, and they could use all help available.

Scp getting deleted was not so bad, not so good, we started scaling characters that were aimed to be a vsbattle peach, which became a problem and pretty sure the rule of "not allowing such authors" applied to them, as well, so from the beginning if this decision was made, lots of the current problems wouldn't happe, so the only problem is we didn't make this decision earlier

My interest is in still having it on the wiki, and that removing it sets a dangerous precedent for the future with, again, just how much the public's perception of powerscaling has shifted. I can also speak from experience when I say that this change is validating some of the most annoying people in the versus community.

For versus debating, this deletion will basically mean the end of any sort of collaborative or fan content being taken seriously in versus, no matter where we put the pages. Doomsday vs 682 appearing on the Death Battle Cast recently is the only reason this isn't causing even MORE damage.

All the archival does is help keep accurate information available to people. All it does is keep the corpse in a pretty little refrigerated casket like Walt Disney. The profiles won't get updated, and if they do it won't be under even a quarter of the scrutiny.

A beautiful, wonderful series with countless amazing ideas and concepts will only ever be known in scaling communities as "The series made to win debates" or "The series so overpowered it got removed from VSBW", all because we deleted it due to less than 0.1% of it's content. A series who's only crime is having less than a dozen spiteful as hell writers.

Removing SCP from this wiki won't save SCP's reputation, it'll just further enforce it as the Suggsverse-tier powerscaling brainrot it never was.

Yeah imma be honest you gotta let it go at this point man.

Also the second part feels a little bit too much of an assumption.

I feel like I should point out we have been deciding what parts of extended canon to use arbitrarily. We try fusing different canons together for the most part it we literally split the extended canon profiles like 073 and 076 between two authors just because they had particularly obviously contradictions but mixed in the works of several other authors just because obviously they belong to this unrelated author's interpretation. They were all composites just because this was the straw that finally broke the Camel's back doesn't mean there aren't other reasons for it.

I'm sorry you feel that way, then.
