So, as the title says, lets get meta.

Why does no one in SAO have immortality type 9? its litiraly the point of it: Transcendental Immortality: Characters whose true selves exist independently from the plane where they can be killed. For example, a conceptual being doesn't die even if its body, soul, etc will be erased from existence.

I understand SAO, but ALF and GGO? there you can mosdt certainly come back to life

15 minutes in Alfeim I belive, and no time needed in gungale.

Unlimited flight at the end of Alf

heatcliff has paralyzis (which apparently can be countered by the power of lady boners, that is litiral PIS though), invincibility (can make himself an immortal object), regen be bumped up at low-mid (because "Regenerated his arm from the elbow down in an unspecified amount of time" is not high-low).

kirito... kirito recreated all of sao with the...goddamn i don't emember, gotta wiki that...

Apperently, its called The seed, and it can recreate entire game servers, tghe monsters whitin them and decie its rules. So, Law manipulation, pocket reality creation, bfr, power null (erased the quit button so players couldn't leave the game),summoning every boss from aincard, statistic manipulation, paralyzis induction, pain manipulation (can reduce the amount of pain felt) and power bestowal (most of what I just said)

and EE too. (the whole ending of aincard)

It is not 2c, as it needs an already working server, and cannot create time, it is island to continental dure to size of the creation (We cannot say "it takes this much energy to create this amount of mass" because it is not made out of matter), but even then, it cannot directly affect AP, so it is not combat aplicable as far as strikuing streinght and attack potency goes

non meta things: speed amplification (sword skills increase attack speed) as an ability and Post-motion (unability to move for a differing amount of time) as a weakness

Clairvoyance through trade, allows to view objects of another character

Possible summoning:

  • Help: Selecting "Help" will call a GM (Game Master) in the left screen.

Plus dieing is called as souless state, where the caracter can just... observe but not attack, so Mid-godly regen through ressurection

They can blend in the envirement to differing degrees and gives limited resistence to Clairvoyance (their cursor cannot be seen, which gives the ability to see if somone has killed or not)

enhanced senses through searches (allowas to see enemy cursors for farther away, allows to notice enemies with hiding skill active, increases plain out sight, can see footprints)

what does having a minimap and being able to know where all of your friends are at a long distance count as?

1) Because they don't. The Avatars are the avatars and they can still be killed. In fact, the entire draw of SAO was the fact that the death of the Avatars in-game would cause the headset to fry the user's brain in real life. Respawning is game mechanics, not an ability inherent to the characters and they can't do so in the midst of a fight. Getting killed is getting killed.

2) Unlimited Flight post ALO sounds fine.

3) I don't remember the Kirito vs Kayaba fight all that well, so you're going to have to provide evidence of paralysis. Invulnerability via being an Immortal Object might be a NLF. Regenerating one's arm is High-Low.

4) He doesn't use the admin powers given to him by Kayaba normally though and the Seed isn't his to manipulate under normal circumstances.

5) Probably not.

6) Speed amping sounds fine and I think that post-motion lag can be added as a weakness.

I'm not an SAO expert, but this is my take on this.

thats sao, ALf and gun gale do give that ability (respawn), and "Game mechanics are considered non-canon, and using them in an argument is considered fallacious". but you see, they are canon, and a thing that are even discussed and shown to be canon. Its like saying that that neos meta abilities aren valid because they only work whitin a virtual reality, you cant give them the tier they are ta, but ignore things that are canonical parts of the series.

Invulnerailty is a legit ability on the wiki, so it should go by its rules

It was gifted to him and he created his own gamers with it, he reacreated aincard with it and it not being in character does not matter in it being added

to further delve into that, immortal object would also be a game mechanic, and yet the plot depends on it, because kirito and asuna would have died to a random boss if not for yui, and her hacking is also game mechanic. The amount of meta videogames that we should ignore feats of because they are part of the game is ridicolous

and unrelated for five, what not?

@Ricsi

It's not an ability inherent to them. When they're killed they're still killed. They don't just magically create a new avatar themselves to continue fighting. It's the nature of the medium and if they're killed they're defeated period.

Invulnerability against conventional damage maybe.

I want Gemmysaur's opinion on this.

rype 9 works via having avatars, and what part of the description does it not work with?

1. We take them as they are in the game, avatars controlled through machines the users have little control over. This point is like saying Iron Man has transcendental immortality for having multiple self-piloting armors that he can manually control, that can be destroyed will little effect to him. It's not their power, it's the nature of the setting they're in which would be irrelevant as vs debates are typically set in neutral ground.

2. Respawning is game mechanics, which doesn't factor in debates. The same as game characters being multi-tonner normal humans for carrying an assault team's worth of heavy weaponry.

3.The seed is irrelevant as it is neither standard equipment, or even something that is applicable to anything but giving someone else something to work with, nor did it stay with Kirito. He gave it to Agil to spread to the net and left it at that.

4. Isn't the "faster with sword skills" listed on the profiles? I thought I added that.

5. Trade is game mechanics.

6. GM summoning is game mechanics, not a part of the avatar's powerset, the same way summoner skills aren't part of a LoL character's powerset.

7. Being able to hide from someone is stealth, not much else to it. Some just have a skill to let them blend in better, like Kizmel's cloak (I should maje her profile already).

8. Enhanced senses are part of their powerset in general, at least, for anyone worth a damn. Though there are notable ones like Kirito, who as a spriggan in ALO, can see in the dark and through smokescreens. Also, Sinon's hawkeye that is mentioned in her profile iirc, that lets her see farther.

9. Unlimited flight (post New-Aincrad), Heathcliff's GM skills (though immortal object is taken as being immune to the strongest attack in the setting at best, which is the 100th floor boss in Ordinal Scale, to avoid NLF) via menu and his speed amp via system assist, and aftercast delay are fine by me.

I do not see how heatcliff is allowed to use abilities dependant on it being a game but others not is gair to be honest. Plus the are canon, but whatever

so theire willingness to use it makes it less of a game mechanic?

plus hiding skill makes you become the color of the enviroment, so it is an ability

Can you quote the book on that? Them being the color of the environment? I only remember Kizmel doing so via her cloak. Or are you talking about ALO and not SAO?

Also, Heathcliff is a GM so what he did is part of his powerset, and as for why it doesn't simply fall under game mechanics, it's not being facilitated by the system, rather, Heathcliff himself manipulates the system. Kirito on the other hand, was never a GM so him using the GM console is not part of his powerset, but rather, outside intervention.

Fyi, magic in Alicization, Release Recollection included, is manipulation of the system.

hiding skill gives a percentage of blending with enviroment color. Once the skill is activated, a small indicator, called the ┬½Hide Rate┬╗ (ÚÜáÒéîþÄç

ÒâÅÒéñÒâëÒâ╗Òâ¼Òâ╝Òâê', Haido Rēto?), appears at the bottom of the player's vision and indicates how well the player blends in with their environment.[1] The rate increases or decreases depending on the type and colour of the armour worn.

plus the fact that it only tricks sight and blind monsters ignore it

Hide rate is basically a meter of how well one can hide from others, since blending with the environment doesn't necessarily mean changing colors to match the background, and clothes color boosting this is because it is the same in real life; green camo in grass and forests, pink in deserts and yellow camo in sandy terrain. We need a better quote, or at least, it being worded better.

I suppse, but it still makes people capable of being completly overlooked despite sdomone directly looking at them, so it is worth to mention.

Idk how to treat that any more than giving them stealth in their powers and abilities, though only the mundane kind, unlike other mundane skills like sprint (boosts running speed) and acrobatics. I don't remember if the latter two are legit skills in SAO though, I need to check that.

it would probably be worth notin somewhat like this: stealth (makes a character extremly hard to find, to the point that they are easly overlooked even when directly in somones view, the longer they are being observed the less they blend in with the environment)

I don't think it needs to be elaborated, especially when it's that wordy. Just putting in Stealth is enough as it's not something well-removed from real life, like a particular superpower. Just that it works by having the user hide in some spot away from where one would normally look.

Stealth, paralyzis for kayaba, invincibility for kayaba (it is of course aplicable to nlf, but it is an abilit, ly that the wiki allows), heightened sense, unlimited flight.

Looks fine at a glance. Soooo... it's over until the next revision huh?

I really need to read up on Alicization again. Also, yeah, someone needs to calc Ordinal Scale, even if only to get the proportional strength of the 100th floor boss as a low-end.

Probably better to give him damage nullification? Idk. He's pretty much invulnerable to everyone in-game that is not a fellow gamemaster of equal rank.

Did you ask why he removed it?

Xmark. Ant agreed to bring back invulnerability to Kayaba's profile.

Here.

Props to Ricsi for bringing it up.

I plan to make them, but I first need to reread everything for feats, especially the latter parts (post-vegetable) where my memories are most vague.

That said, we can just make the base profiles now, scale them to Kirito's Building+ feat and build it up from there.
