Im still confused as to how Goku is th more skilled one here, Sun has shown the capacity to fight off three world class martial artists simultanously while his senses were being manipulated by th ability of one of them that caused him to perceive his movements as lagging behind his thoughts on top of Goku canonically not range spamming and sun having the ability to disperse beam attacks with his staff

If goku doesn't have the advantage, I don't see him being less skilled. Roshi's known as a martial arts God as has been fighting for an extremely long time, longer than pretty much 2 whole generations of the human race.

He doesn't have experience disadvantage though. As said previously, age and training matters quite alot. Goku was able to beat master roshi, a 300 year old god of martial arts.

Roshi also knew Goku fighting style and Goku still outsmarted him
