Suggestions for improvements (New forum)

I don't want to encourage overuse of the RVRT, and all of those things are a problem, but I have basically two thoughts. First is that if a thread is becoming truly outrageous, it can be reported to the RVRT, to staff members that currently have authority to handle that. Second is that, our current goal as a staff body is to recruit more discussion moderators, anyways. Since I don't go into Versus Threads so much, rather than invent a new role, would you be willing to just... recommend some people that do keep a level head in these discussions, for the Discussion Mod role? We're always looking for people and our awareness is not absolute.
I think we would see less reports in rvr and pointless agurements in versus removal thread with more moderation.

That would be a result I am happy with and I think would be productive. I have some members of the commuinty in mind who I feel who have a postive impact on the versus part of the site.

If there's anyone getting called for duty regarding that, i'd be more than happy to present myself as a candidate

I believe we're working on getting an application part of the forum put together, where users may suggest themselves for staff if they meet certain requirements. As it stands, if you'd like to be considered (and this goes to everyone here), please send me a DM with a detailed layout of why you think you'd fit. We are literally always looking for people.

I'm definetely not one to say it isn't but you must understand that it is quite funny for a bureaucrat to say such
It was intended to be funny, as well. Because it is true. Bureaucracy will kill me. I say this as a bureaucrat. I am prone to bouts of extreme humor when I am oxygen deprived.

Yes, I known that XF has a periodic auto-save feature, and it works when creating a new sandbox or a new thread. But that's not what I'm talking about.

What I'm talking about happens after the sandbox has already been created. If we reopen it later and make changes using the "Edit" option, those changes wont be auto-saved.

As I mentioned earlier, if you accidentally navigate away from the sandbox while editing, any changes made through the "Edit" option are gone.

I tested this again, and as I said, any changes made using the “edit” option are not automatically saved.
Okay. I will ask again. 🙏

@ByArrow

I have received a reply. 🙏

"Thank you for testing this again. I checked how XenForo handles drafts, and you're correct. XenForo's built-in auto-save only applies when creating new content (such as new threads, replies, or new sandboxes). It does not automatically save changes made while editing existing content. Right now, it auto-saves every 60 seconds and stores it for 168 hours.

Because of that, if you leave the page while editing an existing sandbox, any unsaved changes will unfortunately be lost. This appears to be a limitation of XenForo itself rather than something specific to our implementation.

From a design perspective, this behavior also makes some sense. When editing an existing post, XenForo would need to manage both the published version and any unsaved draft of the edit. If the edit is never submitted, restoring or reconciling those changes later could become confusing, especially if the original content has changed in the meantime."

Shouldn't we have a rule on how we handle heat-resistance feats regarding durability? A little while ago, in this PvZ downgrade thread, there was some discussion on it, and, although we have common feats for surviving hot environments and several profiles using heat resistance as justification for durability, there's also been a lot of staff who said that you can't assume it universally protects from other forms of attacks, like blunt force trauma, so should we keep applying this kinda thing to durability?

It is probably best if you start a staff forum discussion thread about this. 🙏

Since we now have a sub-forum for Self-Evident revisions, the thread below could be fixated there, no?

Yes. I will move it there. Thank you for the reminder. 🙏❤️

Yes, I sympathise with this request, but there are so many pronouns available that it would turn too complicated if we list them all. However, maybe we can expand it a little bit in the manner that you mentioned? 🙏

I think the former option I suggested would be more viable if it's feasible to modify the Preferred Pronouns selection for multiple choice

It/its is also fairly common pronouns that could be included in the pronoun list

Edit: Another option could be just to make the preferred pronoun section customizable instead of selecting premade options

I suppose that seems reasonable, but our forum system administrator has had to work hard with setting up our new sub-forum and other tasks lately, so I think that this can wait for a while. Please remind me here after a few weeks.

That would open up for lots of nonsense jokes, and also turn too complicated to practically handle, so preferably not. 🙏

I think this is the correct thread since I can't find a better one. I am having an issue with a bug. It is recent and something that I have never had issues with before

I can't paste links to threads without having to refresh the site a few times. This needs to happen every time I move "address" even a bit, this can be entering or exiting a thread, moving the page, going to someone's wall...

It is extremely frustrating since it is just a massive waste of time, and it can take minutes just to post a link if it works in the first place...

The new announcement thing at the top is way too big for me, requiring me to scroll an entire page every time.
I could remove the element on my end if it's just me, but thought it was worth bringing up in case it's not.

Also, I have been having issues with notifications not going down, and unable to scroll on the home page for the forum

This all started sometime after the Cloudflare issue...

Our system manager just finished setting up a new forum loading system that is much swifter than our old one, but there may be minor bugs with it.

I will inform him about what you said here, and please post here again if you find any other bugs. 🙏

I have posted an announcement thread now. 🙏

Swifter? It takes longer for me...

It takes at least 2-3 seconds, with the possibility of it freezing... Before it was more or less instant

Okay. I will inform him about this. 🙏

Could a thread be added in the self evident revisions thread about "self evident range revisions"?, similar to intelligence revisions, they can be even more obvious, such as pointing out that a character throwing a weapon is more around hundreds of meters range than tens of meters (range statistics are generally eyeballing without calcs on distance anyway)

Stamina, even if it's generally the least complicated stat on easily any character having superhuman stamina, only infinite stamina being controversial, it could have a thread, or the "range revisions" thread being "self-evident range and stamina thread"

I suppose so, but although I am well-suited for helping to manage the self-evident intelligence revisions thread, as I wrote most of that statistics page, I would not be similarly well-suited for a range thread, so we would likely need somebody who is willing to handle it long-term. 🙏

With a well suited person, do you mean just an administrator with time for it?

May depend of what's required to evaluate in range or stamina (what's agreed that can be in that thread, and what would rather need a whole CRT for, like infinite stamina proposals)

For range, I'd say people being allowed to use as example a very simple calculation for range (just pixel scaling/angsizing a single image, 30 seconds for a CGM to determine the math it's fine), just to clarify any doubts from eyeballing the range

For stamina it may vary as a more complex statistic, but also a more minor one on varying less in tiers

An ongoing range thread might require a combined calc group member and administrator/discussion moderator such as @Damage3245 or @Armorchompy .

Stamina is a lot more vague to evaluate for the values below Superhuman and Infinite stamina, or at least for myself. 🙏

Self-Evident Range Revision Thread sounds very good to me as well, with the help of some of the CGMs if it needs some minor maths/calculations.

Why do I say this? Because I'd probably proposed many characters to fix their range. I've noticed that some of the character profiles I've monitored don't have the correct range.

Fully agree, it will be really helpful for fixing what we have...

You have me strapped to and pushing many wheels of pain these days, with increasingly small volumes of time to push in. This isn't a "no" but there is only so much Bambu to go around.

DO we need to have a specific staff on here, can't we just have staff check in whenever they want, with normal users also "discussing", since self-evident stuff should not run into any kind of issues, as that would disqualify it?

I guess that's right, thread moderators and above can give their approvals like normally, not just CGMs. I mean, pretty much like the intelligence thread.

I feel dumb rn.

No problem at all. You obviously need your time to recover and maintain your personal wellbeing. 🙏❤️

Yes, that would also work, but calc group members seem more specialised in evaluating approximate range statistics. 🙏

Okay, so gonna put my two cents for the forum and say "ffs give us some fun and creative emojis and reactions already!"
