I always assumed lightsabers were strong when a Jedi or Sith welded them cause of there connection to the force with augmentation since it's construction is a necessary part of becoming a Jedi.

It's like the saying it's not the weapon that's powerful but the warrior holding the weapon.

@Dark They are that strong when they pick up a lightsaber, the lightsaber can cut through things of that durability regardless of the wielder

@Js250476, my point exactly. That's pretty much why most melee weapons shouldn't really have tiers and just be treated as welder dependant.

@Weekly, actually, Boba Fett was able to stand up to lightsaber strikes but he's obviously not Tier 7 or above. Lightsabers can cut through Durasteel, so they would be High 8-C for sure, but they shouldn't be assumed to be on par with Jedi.

Except due to how lightsabers work theyre not wielder dependant as their cutting power remains the same regardless of who uses it

The power of a Lightsaber comes from the welder's Force Amplification. Even with a lightsaber, Storm Trooper's struggle to cut through ships with only High 8-C durability, and weaker characters using lightsabers were struggling to kill Boba Fett. Also, harming Jedi is a bad example because Jedi are kind of light Dragon Ball characters in which their durability drops exponentially when distracted; so I wouldn't make every blaster or landspeeder High 7-C or 5-B just because they harmed a Jedi. That's the definition of backwards scaling and why weapon/vehicle scaling tends to be all over the place.

@Shadow, yes, and Boba's durability is only Large Building level+ to Multi-City Block level+. It isn't Large Town level or Planet level like what's literally being implied. And even Boba Fett chip damaging a severely held back Vader was simply treated as an 8-A feat.

Anyway, I agree that a new thread is in order given the more than 450 posts.
