Spiderman literally blitzes, Alex's powers are errie similar to that of an symbiote, a race of aliens he regularly encounters on a daily bases. And also, Peter is also really smart to, contrary to popular belief.

Speed is Equalized, Mercer doesn't share any weaknesses with symbiotes, nor can anyone of them absorb Peter with a single touch. Mercer was a genius scientist even before he died, not to mention he's absorbed hundreds of other scientists to get there memories and knowledge.

Alex may not be exactly the same as a symbiote but he's similar enough for Peter to formulate a decent plan againts him given enough time. He can come up with stutf like power null, atomization, trapping him, and etc.

Doesn't symbiotes like Carnage and Venom already do that though? Carnage once infected like an entire town or something by himself iirc.

OP needs to give Spiderman more prep time for this to be a fair fight. Also given his equipment, he has Information Analysis so he can get a better understanding of him better faster.

Yeah Im leaning on stomp, spidey even speed unequal is liable to get infected by mercer releasing blacklight in gaseous form. Given enough preptime peter could probably design a plot formula to deal with mercer but hes going to need more time.
His atomizing suit isn't likly to kill mercer before mercer touches him, speed unequal with the suit is a little more fair but peter has no way to deal with blacklight infection.

Possesion and infection are not equvilant to absorbtion. How did spidey deal with it in that comic?

With a single touch? Because I feel like if Venom or Carnage could have done that to Peter, they would have.

Well they do easily absorb people even by a single contact (regular civilians easily get absorbed in even with a smmal part of a symbiote attached to them like how symbiotes usually start off small), Spidey seems to have plot armor againts them most of the time with guys like Carnage and Venom usually wanting to toy or kill him instead. Also didn't Spiderman broke free of a symbiote before like in the Reimi films?

Spider-Man won't be able to develop a cure against Mercer, regardless of his extraordinary intellect, for Mercer has already adapted to and resisted several cures designed specifically against him anyways.

Wasn't the films based on the comics though, there's definitely times where a symbiote was unable to stay latched on a host. Also Spiderman can win, OP just needs to extend his prep time.

How a Symbiote "absorbs" (more like bonds) is different to how Mercer absorbs. Mercer's Absorption not only kills his targets (unlike Venom in the Rami films), but it also nullifies their regen and make them become one with him. I'm pretty sure a Symbiote's "absorption" from those like Venom aren't supposed to be lethal.

And cures aren't the only thing Peter can do, he's more likely to trap or atomize the guy like in the scans I've provided.

His curing abilities would fail against Mercer. Alex Mercer not only already has resistance to Power Nullification, but he has adapted to several cures already.Not Icarus said:
