Spider-Man General Discussion

I think the only thing I won’t take as 100% fact from the PS2 version of SM3 is how you can’t actually wear the Black Suit for too long before Peter falls unconscious, since in the primary version of the game, he wears it for an extended period of time as you all know. I think that’s strictly just a mechanic meant to be based on how the suit has negative side effects

makes sense

Spideys level of super villain recognition ability sometimes goes beyond simply being experienced and enters into the territory of being downright clairvoyant

Actually to be fair in this case Peter also noted how the guard was really large
There's still a pretty decent number of big characters that can jump but i guess it's enough to reasonably guess who this is

Idk man, given it’s the Marvel Universe, that could be like 1001 people

Probably a little less since it's the 70's but i get your point
Also the guy ended up being the Gibbon
If i saw a big guy jumping really high my first thought would not be the Gibbon that's for sure

GIBBON???? REALLY???

I would’ve guessed Kangaroo, this is actually kinda crazy

Peter analyzed the 1-2 seconds of Gibbons jump and was like "hmm yes there's only one person who performs their jumps at this angle and in this posture, the speed of the jump also indicates the person weighs between 230-270 pounds, lining up with the Gibbon" in his head

That’s how you know he’s a genius. Literally no one would’ve fussed Gibbon, yet he was right

While Martin's actual backstory in the mainline comics has him intentionally meet up with Spider-Man and then get laughed at, the way it's shown here looks like Spidey straight up decided to swing by just to laugh at him

I'd also say Spider-Man upscales this given he's defeated Shocker three different times with relative ease, and went on to defeat Doc Ock, who is stated in a few different sources to be the strongest opponent he's faced during the Spider-Man 2 Era

I wonder if that would be enough to upscale him to High 8-C

Two other things to take into account. During Spider-Reflexes Mode, he does more damage. Meanwhile, there's the Black Suit which already makes Peter stronger, but its also stated that when using rage, his power doubles. So he's definitely gonna dip in High 8-C. I just wanna see if there's any justification for the Black Suit in its base to scale to High 8-C, since that'd make the rage rating higher

Considering that the gap between Shockers feat and High 8-C is only 1.13x, and that Spidey already upscales from him, i think High 8-C Black Suit is pretty reasonable

Its made clear that during SM1, Green Goblin is the arch-enemy of a beginner Spider-Man. So Spidey managing to defeat him, as well as Ock upscaling previous villains, is supported. Plus, Goblin even comments that Peter's skill is "tremendous"
