You're missing the point. We know this are actual planets because they can't fit on Earth. They even separated after the final boss. They're far enough to the point where we don't see them from Earth's view. Saying that we don't know the distance is ignorance if we can make appropriations.

Agreeing with user that a blog should be made. Let's take a look at the math for the Wisp calc and see if it's good by a calc member, then we can discuss the results from there. We already know Sonic's faster than the fastest Wisp (Cyan Laser) so it'd be a matter of discussion from there.

I don't think the timecut would be decisive since Sonic was still looking at the sky with Tails, so the scene implies that they reached space right after Yacker left.

Jiggy's right, there's no obvious timecut that wpuld make it seem like there's a giant gap that we don't see. There's no transition of time that's hinted at whatsoever within the scene

I didn't see a speed feat for anyone outside of Super forms in that video. Sonic is literally pushing the Eggmobile in that video, and Eggman was never traveling at FTL speeds feats in any of the scenes Sonic was keeping up with.
