While optional equipment is fine for the good characters and I can see why people think that it's standard, there's no logical reason for Metal Sonic to have them. You could make the reasoning that the Wisps are with the good characters because they want to help out but Metal Sonic is more evil than Eggman. No way in Crisis City would they be with him.

This I agree with, they were only with Team Eggman because of the grand prix of Dodonpa.
