Saint Seiya Discussion Thread (IV)

the taizen also states he doesn’t reach light speed movements. All it says it that he has a gold saints power. He’s slightly slower and just as strong.
It seems I made a mistake, so I'm adding the comment I deleted by mistake.

The speed in the Saint Seiya universe is proportional to the power or cosmos of the characters. The higher the character's power or cosmos, the faster they become, something we can clearly see in Seiya's fight against Saga, where his speed increases as his cosmos rises, starting from the speed of sound until he reaches the speed of light when he manages to reach the level of a Gold Saint for a brief moment.

If Baian and the rest of the Mariners do not possess the speed of light, it means that they are not at the level of a Gold Saint. Therefore, as I mentioned before, the Mariners are not at the level of the Gold Saints and the Three Judges (or even some powerful Specters such as Papillon, Deep, Minotaur, Alraune, etc.). In fact, based on what was shown in Saint Mariya and Time Odyssey, it seems that a Bronze or Silver Saint (at full power) could be enough to face them and even defeat some of them.

Ox surpassed him and inflicted heavy damage with a simple movement of his hand, even though Ox did not want to kill him at first, which is why he did not use Great Horn.
Ok so first in Ch 29, Shion says Suikyo will likely lose to Ox. Shun even calls Ox’s Cosmo terrifying. And Suikyo says Ox should have used his power from the beginning. I think that could imply Ox could have won at full power, but Suikyo whilst also not trying to kill Ox, but putting him in hibernation of sorts, pierces his gold cloth and defeats him. So Suikyo is prob at least a bit stronger.
HOWEVER, in ch28, we are told Suikyo’s power is below half because of Ikki. So Ox could be stronger then below 50% Suikyo, but likely is far inferior to a fully powered Suikyo.
Cain also overwhelmed him with simple physical blows, and Abel likewise surpassed him and used Genrōmaōken on him.
While the being weakened thing does still hold true from Ox onwards, Ikki himself says Cain is more powerful than anybody prior, so even a 100% Suikyo is likely weaker. Yeah I agree.
Deathtoll also overpowered him and struck him using only physical attacks, nearly sending him back to the Underworld.
Genuinely this is ridiculous. Deathtoll comments that Suikyo doesn’t have more than a child’s strength left in his arms. Aka, Suikyo’s power has been drastically reduced by the constant mental damage he’s taken(possibly the physical damage as well).
Therefore, Kaiser is so far superior to Ikki that, even when Ikki knew the technique, he could not stop it, and the only thing he could do was mitigate the damage to avoid receiving a fatal blow.
Looking back, It does seem that Ikki simply wasn’t attacking back. However, when he does, he repels the lightning plasma. Overall, I’m willing to concede Kaiser being superior to Ikki at least somewhat.
Ikki, even after having seen his techniques, was unable to counter them
This doesn’t make any sense. Ikki enters the temple, and gets hit by the silence. He attacks Shijima’s afterimage and nothing happens because Shjima isn’t really there. Ikki’s eardrums burst, and his brain cells are going. Then the four doors are used on him. Then Oddy nullifies the silence. And then Ikki is put to sleep. Ikki wakes up, steps through a door, and is thrown into a spacetime rift. What are you talking about??? There’s literally no point where Shjima demonstrates actual power superior to ikki, only that Ikki cannot counter the lack of noise.
since Deathmask in Sho is stronger than normal Deathmask. Therefore, the fact that this version of Deathmask could match or surpass Mu does not mean that normal Deathmask can do the same.
Deathmask with the evil seed is stronger. However, Elda is talking to a Deathmask who has been purified of his Evil Seed, absolutely no dryad influence whatsoever, because Deathmask just flung into a different dimension. She specifically is taking to, and so is referring to, Gold Cloth Deathmask. And she doesn’t just mean Deathmask as he currently is, possibly boosted by justice. Her flashbacks indicate she’s talking about Deathmask period, flat out, no modifiers at all.
Even in Next Dimension, Chagall had only recently awakened as a Specter and was then sent to fight Tenma, which is why he had not yet acquired the name Radamanthys.
YES! And Chagall is stronger than Rhad. So if non awakened specters can be stronger then awakened specters of the same surplice, then they are only given a minimum level of power, and can independently per incarnation have more.
Hyoga, even with his best technique, could not kill Minos, so at best this only places him at the level of a Gold Saint when he raises his cosmos to the maximum
Then you must concede Bronzes at that point scale to Minos. Which was the original contention I had.
I do not recall Shiryu defeating a Specter of such a high level;
It was golem rock, or maybe troll Ivan, don’t recall exactly who. Hyoga beats the other, but that’s because of Absolute zero.
Nike was not in Poseidon’s Sanctuary, since Athena did not bring her weapons with her to that battle, which is why the goddess was limited at that moment.
I’m not convinced that’s exactly how it works, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. Shiryu specifically says his Cosmo is raising to the level of gold saints, ie shura as that’s the only one he fought with his 7th sense, as DM was via a rage amp. He even directly references defeating the golds.
Moreover, Lance Krishna is holding back his true power. He states that now that his Lance is broken, he needs toget serious, and his kundalini, ie cosmo, has awakened.

However, what is shown in the franchise indicates that Wynver is the strongest, and Kanon withstood his attack, which means that the claim that Aiakos could kill him is just an ambiguous statement from a character known for his great ego.
ND as I’ve mentioned, demonstrates the exact power between incarnations is not even positively correlated with awakening level. For another example, Shoichiro beat the evil god out of his brother while surpassing the big bang, which isn’t something an average Wyvern could do, while also not being fully awakened. If what you argue was true, Classic rhad would be stronger then Chagall, and also above Big Bangs. And since he’s not, you are wrong.
Actually, despite being fully awakened, Classic Rhad is THE weakest Wyvern in the series, and so the argument that the soul provides most of the power is wrong. Therefore, Classic Rhad isn’t auto stronger then Aiacos no matter what just because he’s the Wyvern specter.
In the manga, we can clearly see that the attack did not cause him any damage
Sure. Oh also, I’m not sure if it’s consistent, but Aiacos’s movements are seen as flashes of light to Kanon, indicating superior speed, backing up his own statements and the taizen. Ikki also confirms his speed, noting he had to surpass it, indicating Aiacos is being truthful.
which makes that statement even more ambiguous, since there is nothing in the story that confirms it.
the false statement is Kanon threatening to kill the judges, getting slammed by aiacos, comboed into nearly getting his neck snapped by Minos as the second attack of their entire group fight. He then proceeds to get bailed out by Ikki, who has a Cosmo stronger then any saint in the UW, at implied by Pandora.
A good example that comes to mind is the Specter Rock, who believed that his technique, which consists of throwing rocks, could kill Kanon, Hyoga, and Shiryu if it had hit them directly.
again, top 1-2 specter for some reason.
No, it is only stated that there was an era in which all humans possessed the Seventh Sense, and therefore there was no distinction between gods and mortals, as the mortals were said to be as powerful as the gods. However, that is not the era in which the battle against Poseidon took place, where we can clearly see that humans did not possess that power. That is why the Dragon was presented as an unmatched warrior among Athena’s army, because even though he was a Bronze Saint, he was as strong as a Gold Saint.
Just because gold saints existed doesn’t mean not everybody had the 7th sense. Gold saints have always existed in the age of myth, even when Kuru wrote that. This is odd as a counterargument for that reason. The only way this works is if we assume there’s no possible way for power gaps to be exist between 7th sense users. Which is false.
As for Tyr, he can be a 7th sense user without being equal to Camus, as Camus is exceptionally powerful even for a gold Saint.
It is the power of Misty, since Mariya is just a young girl without any training or combat skills, and she derives her power from the Cloth she wears
The issue is that only setsuna has gold level power, according to Kiki, so Mariya’s performance at gold level is either very temporary miracle type stuff, or we just aren’t interpreting it right (such as considering the possibility that the specters are weaker this time)
feels different thanks to the illusion. For example, Ikki would have felt a stab from Esmeralda, even though Kasa was probably only piercing his body with his hand. This is because the illusion alters the five senses and confuses the brain’s perception.
The AMOUNT of damage overall would be the same though. His skin and muscle is pierced at the end of the day. I think Kaasa’s thing is pretty straight forwards.
the same Orphee who easily overwhelmed and left Aiacos and Minos unconscious
Are we really saying that sleep manipulation hax is a power feat.
Kanon was only able to stop Radamanthys’ Greatest Caution because Radamanthys was injured and weakened by Orphee’s attacks,
True.

Generally true, but Baian is obviously an exception, being said to not lose to Seiya in power, being comparable to gold, and yet also being only relativistic

Ox destroyed Suikyō’s Surplice and left him vomiting blood with a single movement of his hand. Ox was not inferior to Suikyō in any way; in fact, based on what is shown, he appears superior, since a casual attack from Ox caused severe damage, and if he had attacked with Great Horn instead of a simple hand strike, Suikyō would have died. While it is true that Suikyō managed to knock Ox unconscious, this only happened because Ox did not attack with his full power at the beginning, which led to a moment of carelessness that Suikyō took advantage of to strike first with a technique.

Ikki only mentions that the Hōō Genma Ken affected him by about 50%, which is why he began to hallucinate about his past and the moment his brother died. However, it is never stated that this weakened him in any way. On the contrary, thanks to that attack, he gained greater mental resistance, and because of this he was able to partially withstand Abel’s Genrōmaōken.

Next Dimension: Volumen 4 (Chapter 28), pág 26
7387yye.jpeg

Ikki: No… unfortunately, judging by the feel of it, I only managed to inflict less than half the damage (いや・・・残念だが手ごたえとしては半分以下のダメージしか与えられなかった)
Ikki: It wasn’t enough to shatter his mind (精神を砕くまでは至らず)
Ikki: At best, it probably just caused old nightmares to resurface… (せいぜい昔の悪夢がよみがえるていレ程度だろう・・・)

This only confirms that Suikyo possesses some degree of mental resistance, which is why Ikki’s attack could not fully affect him. However, as we later observed, Suikyo was completely affected by Abel’s Genrōmaōken. He was only able to partially withstand the technique due to the resistance he gained from being struck by the Hōō Genma Ken, but as shown, he was able to break free from the technique solely because he had killed Tenma for a few seconds by stopping his heart.

Genuinely this is ridiculous. Deathtoll comments that Suikyo doesn’t have more than a child’s strength left in his arms. Aka, Suikyo’s power has been drastically reduced by the constant mental damage he’s taken(possibly the physical damage as well).
His blows were weak, like those of a child, to Deathtoll, because they did not cause him any damage. The only one who had inflicted any significant damage on Suikyō at that point was Ox, since Cain only landed a few hits that did not deal much damage.

The silence is a space created by Shijima’s cosmos, and projections created by a cosmos can be destroyed only by someone who possesses a superior cosmos, something Ikki was unable to do. Throughout the entire fight, Ikki was at Shijima’s mercy, and it is made clear that Shijima could have defeated or killed him with any movement, since Ikki was never able to match Shijima’s cosmos in order to defend himself or overcome his techniques. This only confirms that the Virgo Saint has always been vastly superior to Ikki. In fact, even Odysseus himself mentions that Shijima did not truly go all out against him and was merely playing with him.

Erda only accepts Deathmask as a true Saint at that moment, but she never indicates that he was more powerful than before, nor that Deathmask’s cosmos was comparable to or superior to hers or Mu’s. She simply mentions that he was really strong and that he was cool.

YES! And Chagall is stronger than Rhad. So if non awakened specters can be stronger then awakened specters of the same surplice, then they are only given a minimum level of power, and can independently per incarnation have more.
As I mentioned, he is not stronger, since at best he should be equally strong, given that Chagall had not fully awakened as a Specter, unlike Radamanthys.

Radamanthys is essentially the fully awakened Wyvern Specter, and that is why he obtained the name Radamanthys, which is the name of the mythological Specter who served Hades.

The incarnation itself does not matter, because Specters are reincarnated souls. That is why the Evil Stars choose them, in order to bring the mythological Specters back once again. The only time this does not apply is when Hades, Pandora, Thanatos, Hypnos, or any high-ranking member of Hades’ army personally chooses a host for an Evil Star who is different from the one originally destined for it, in order to turn them into a member of Hades’ army. A good example of this is Suikyo, who was chosen directly by Pandora, and therefore did not possess Garuda’s techniques, since, being a Saint, the Surplice was never able to dominate his body and soul.

Then you must concede Bronzes at that point scale to Minos. Which was the original contention I had.
Yes, the Bronzeboys can reach the level of a Gold Saint when they raise their cosmos to the maximum, but they cannot do so consistently, since reaching that level is still a challenge for them and they can only achieve it for a brief moment. However, as I said, they are not superior to the Gold Saints in any way, because even at their maximum level they are still inferior to the elite among the Gold Saints.

It was golem rock, or maybe troll Ivan, don’t recall exactly who. Hyoga beats the other, but that’s because of Absolute zero.
Neither of those two Specters is really impressive, which is why they were defeated so easily.

Reaching the level of a Gold Saint is not the same as reaching the cosmos they displayed during the Sanctuary arc in moments of desperation, when they surpassed their limits to equal or even surpass the Gold Saints for a brief moment. As I mentioned, on that occasion they were aided by Nike, and some of them also had external factors that amplified their cosmos. For example, in Shiryu’s case, the fury he felt toward Deathmask after believing that Shunrei had been killed.

We can even see that at that moment, Shiryu’s Rozan Shōryū Ha, with the Seventh Sense and his cosmos pushed to its absolute limit, manifested as multiple dragons to defeat his opponent—something we have never seen again. This indicates that that particular Rozan Shōryū Ha was stronger than the one Shiryu used at any other time when merely reaching the level of a Gold Saint.

Moreover, Lance Krishna is holding back his true power. He states that now that his Lance is broken, he needs toget serious, and his kundalini, ie cosmo, has awakened.
The spear is a weapon with its own power, similar to Libra’s weapons, which possess power of their own and, in the hands of any Saint regardless of rank, grant power equivalent to or even greater than a Gold Saint’s attack, although as we know, these weapons can become even more powerful through cosmos. Therefore, Krishna’s cosmos increased even without his spear, but that does not mean he was that strong without it, since it was thanks to the power of the spear that he was able to pierce the Dragon Cloth. Without the spear, Krishna was so weak that he could not even seriously injure an unarmored Shiryu.

In Next Dimension, this is never mentioned or suggested. On the contrary, it only expands on the concept of the Specters presented in the original manga, where it is clearly explained that they are always the same souls; therefore, their power should not be different, as long as their selection as a Specter is normal and not an anomaly.

Shoichiro is recognized as an anomaly even within his own series, since thanks to Moros, they were able to retain their personalities and fully awaken as Specters without losing their minds or hearts. Moreover, this allows them to reach a different state, as they can obtain the spirit of the Surplice to increase their power; thus, they are literally two Specters combined into one, as happened with Zhu, who became as powerful as a Gold Saint by entering into resonance with Valentine’s spirit and obtaining his full power as a Specter. This situation is considered an anomaly within the series itself, since even Charlotte suggests that Zhu should not be that strong, as they are not Specters at the level of a Gold Saint. In this case, Shoichiro is an anomaly even within this abnormal universe, because from the very beginning he was always in resonance with the spirit of Radamanthys, as both share the same objective: protecting Yoruhime (Pandora).

However, this does not happen with the Specters in any other universe, since they cannot free themselves from Hades’ control in that way. The only way they could be free and gain control over their powers as Specters, without having their soul and mind suppressed by the Evil Star, would be by attaining the Eighth Sense, which, as Chris describes in the recent chapter of The Lost Canvas, is a power beyond the physical body, a power that can be born from feelings so strong that they transcend time and space and that allows mortals to challenge the gods.

Sure. Oh also, I’m not sure if it’s consistent, but Aiacos’s movements are seen as flashes of light to Kanon, indicating superior speed, backing up his own statements and the taizen. Ikki also confirms his speed, noting he had to surpass it, indicating Aiacos is being truthful.

the false statement is Kanon threatening to kill the judges, getting slammed by aiacos, comboed into nearly getting his neck snapped by Minos as the second attack of their entire group fight. He then proceeds to get bailed out by Ikki, who has a Cosmo stronger then any saint in the UW, at implied by Pandora.
This is similar to Radamanthys getting ahead of Kanon and attacking him with Greatest Caution; he also managed to strike Kanon directly, but he did not manage to kill him with a single attack. Or like Saga getting ahead of Aiolia and hitting him with a blow at the speed of light; that attack failed to injure him, and we can see how Aiolia perfectly defends himself against Saga’s second attack, after which the two begin an evenly matched fight. As I said, he simply struck Kanon, but it did absolutely nothing to him; Kanon could have stood back up and defeated him with any of his techniques.

Yes, like that description, and also like Aiacos claiming that he could kill Kanon, even though he could not inflict even a single scratch on him with his attack. He could not even leave a mark on something as weak as Ikki’s Bronze Cloth, an armor without the blood of a Gold Saint or Athena. That makes it quite illogical to think that he could damage Kanon, who was wearing a Gold Cloth, the most powerful armor in Athena’s army.

Pandora only reacts to how violent Ikki’s cosmos is compared to the rest of the Saints who entered the Underworld; however, as we know, this does not indicate Ikki’s actual strength. Ikki begins his battles with the power of a Bronze Saint, which is his base level, as happens in his fight against Cain, where his attacks start at supersonic speed and he was unable to react to Cain’s light speed attacks.

As I said, Kanon survived an attack from Radamanthys, who was more powerful than the four protagonists combined and Orphee, so this confirms that Aiacos’s attack could never have defeated him. Unless we assume that Kanon was weakened at that moment by all the battles he fought in the Underworld and that he was literally a one-man army, defeating all the Specters in his path, likely being the one who defeated the majority of the 108 Specters.

again, top 1-2 specter for some reason.
I do not recall anything that indicates that this Specter is considerably strong; even the attack with which he was supposedly going to kill them is merely throwing large rocks at the opponent through telekinesis.

It is because they do not possess the Seventh Sense, since it is not the era described in that account about the cosmos. The time when that occurred was a much older age, when there was no distinction between mortals and gods, meaning that any mortal was as capable as a god in that era.

The era in which the battle against Poseidon takes place is not that ancient, and humans do not possess the Seventh Sense, nor are they equal to the gods. That is why a Saint like the Dragon of that era is described as someone special among the Saints, because even though he was a Bronze Saint, he was comparable to a Gold Saint. Thus, the Dragon was unique and exceptional within his army for possessing that level of strength, which means that the rest of the Saints did not have a cosmos of that level, since they were merely Bronze Saints whose strength is superhuman, but not at the level of a Gold Saint.

The problem is that Tyr is not even close to an Aquarius Saint or to Hyoga; he is simply far inferior to them. To achieve a feat that is inferior to what those two could accomplish, he had to concentrate his cosmos for seven days and sacrifice his life. In other words, he used the same method Shaka uses to amplify his cosmos by accumulating it, but even then it was not enough and he still had to sacrifice his life, and even so he only achieved a feat inferior to what either of those two could do.

Tyr was simply a Bronze Saint stronger than average, and the same applies to Pheebe. Both of them were capable of fighting the Mariners, and Pheebe even managed to defeat Kraken while she was on the brink of death. The Generals have never been very powerful in this universe; that is why Poseidon is a lesser enemy of Athena.

The issue is that only setsuna has gold level power, according to Kiki, so Mariya’s performance at gold level is either very temporary miracle type stuff, or we just aren’t interpreting it right (such as considering the possibility that the specters are weaker this time)
The level of cosmos that Setsuna reached at that moment is comparable to that of a Gold Cloth, not a Gold Saint. That is why Kiki mentions that it is of a golden level, and Setsuna manages to defeat the Pisces Cloth. However, as Kiki himself explains, a Cloth without an owner is not as powerful as the Saint who wears it; only when it chooses a bearer does it display its true power. This detail can be seen when Adonis takes control of the Pisces Cloth and states that he will now show them the true power of a Gold Saint. At that moment, Aphrodite fully manifests and defeats them both in a single second, as his strength is completely incomparable to theirs.

Setsuna has a higher potential than Mariya, something Kiki describes in the story. At that moment, Shun granted her greater power so that she could protect Mariya, but as we later see, this was only temporary, just like the moments when the Pegasus Cloth grants Mariya greater power. That is why we later saw Setsuna being defeated by the Centaur Cloth.

As the author herself stated, the girls are just children with no training at all. They may have some potential to use cosmos, which is why they were chosen by the Cloths, but their power and abilities are granted to them by the Cloths they wear. Therefore, that was the power Misty bestowed upon Mariya so that she could defeat Queen.

The AMOUNT of damage overall would be the same though. His skin and muscle is pierced at the end of the day. I think Kaasa’s thing is pretty straight forwards.
It is quite simple, because all of his attacks are actually illusions. Kasa merely strikes the opponent while their mind is under the effects of an illusion, which makes them believe things that are not real. In Hyoga’s case, he feels an ice attack, even though the attack was never made of ice, and in Ikki’s case, he felt Esmeralda stabbing a knife into his body, even though he was never actually struck by Kasa. This is part of the hypnotic effect of the illusion, which alters the victim’s perception and senses.

Are we really saying that sleep manipulation hax is a power feat.
Yes, but those are Orphee’s powers, who, as a warrior even more powerful than the Gold Saints, can affect the Judges and Pandora without any difficulty. Even if Radamanthys had not been there to protect them, Orphee would have defeated all of them effortlessly, since they cannot defend themselves against his techniques and do not have the power to confront Orphee.

Generally true, but Baian is obviously an exception, being said to not lose to Seiya in power, being comparable to gold, and yet also being only relativistic
Not generally — it is always that way, since speed in Saint Seiya is proportional to the user’s cosmos. That is why the Gold Saints, who are the twelve strongest warriors in existence, and the Judges can move at the speed of light, and in some cases, if they raise their cosmos to the limit, they can even surpass that speed. If a character does not reach the speed of light, it is because they are much weaker than a Gold Saint.

I see, so the nd eng translations are wrong, damn. Noted

English Saint Seiya translations are wrong, who could have seen that coming
The recent English translations are actually quite good. For example, Solo Enterprises and House of Libra have solid English translations, and even fans who speak Portuguese, Spanish, and French have mentioned that they are better translations. The only issue is with some of the older translations, but it is not that they have major problems in their translation, only a few minor details.

For example, Solo Enterprises and House of Libra have solid English translations
Everyone knows about Libra, haven't heard of Solo though

even fans who speak Portuguese, Spanish, and French have mentioned that they are better translations. The only issue is with some of the older translations, but it is not that they have major problems in their translation, only a few minor details.
Yeah I have heard from Unshakable the French Portuguese, and Spanish version are better (Lmao). But I don't really know there languages.... well except Spanish, but I'd still prefer to read english

Everyone knows about Libra, haven't heard of Solo though
He is the one who translates the ReRise of Poseidon.

Yeah I have heard from Unshakable the French Portuguese, and Spanish version are better (Lmao). But I don't really know there languages.... well except Spanish, but I'd still prefer to read english
Not always, because the House of Libra translation is better than the Spanish, French, and Portuguese translations. That is why even fans on forums in those languages prefer to rely on the manga translations or scripts translated by House of Libra, especially in the case of The Lost Canvas, Saint Mariya and Dark Wing, whose Portuguese and Spanish translations are not very good.

Yeah. Libra has goated translations. I’ll get back to you on our previous discussion soon btw

Kurumada published a preview of Then III on his blog (in reality, the image was leaked, the person who supervises this blog is doing a poor job), in case anyone is still interested in this sequel (I have no idea how the hell he plans to create a continuation of a manga by releasing 8-page chapters every few months).😒

Has anyone here read the latest chapter of Saint Mariya? It does not have any interesting feats, but they did explain some curious lore details.

It is explained that Odette’s Cygnus Cloth has more metallic parts because she makes better use of her cosmos, something we can observe in her talent for skating and her ability to create ice even without using an armor. This causes the Cloth to be closer to its true form.

As I said before, the girls are humans with the potential to use cosmos, but they have no training at all; that is why their powers mainly come from the spirit of the Saint within the armor. In fact, we can even see that Mariya is an idiot and has zero talent at anything, which indicates that her use of cosmos is very limited, since Saints and cosmos users in general are gifted individuals (people with talent in academic studies or physical disciplines).

As has been made clear in the Saint Seiya universe, those who are considered geniuses or who possess extraordinary talent in a sport are the ones who have the potential to develop their Cosmos and use it unconsciously. This is a concept that has been present since the very beginning, but it can be seen more clearly in Dark Wing, where the students of Graad Academy, a school for gifted youths, could become candidates to become warriors of a god.

Therefore, it means that perhaps in the future the girls may be able to use their cosmos on their own and obtain the full power of their armors, allowing them to reach their true form, or perhaps even achieve some special evolution meant specifically for them.

It is also possible to see that Queen, now freed from the influence of the Evil Star, is working as Kiki’s assistant, since it is mentioned that he is in danger, as Hades’ army could send people to capture or kill him. This is similar to what happened to Cetus Chris, since in the latest chapter of The Lost Canvas it is mentioned that Hades’ army was pursuing her and had sent Specters to kill her for deserting the army.

It is also mentioned that the land of Jamir is protected by a barrier that prevents Hades’ army from finding the place. It is not stated whether this is an inherent quality of Jamir or if Kiki is the one who made it invisible. However, considering that in other spin-offs we have seen Specters reaching Jamir and that there appears to be a barrier similar to the Crystal Wall, I assume that it was Kiki who created the barrier and made the place invisible. Even the Underworld Fairies, who have teleportation abilities and are ethereal beings of the Underworld that can move between the world of the living and the dead, cannot enter that place.

Additionally, it seems that the next enemy will be Minos.

As I said, it is a chapter that expands the lore a bit, and the girls obtained the Centaur Cloth, so I suppose that in the next chapters we may see one of them wearing that armor. My guess is that it will be Odette, so I hope we get to see the Saint Seiya universe’s version of Medroa, with her combining ice and fire.

My only problem is Kiki. The guy only exists to appear posing on covers, because he has been completely useless. He is probably the most useless mentor and Saint in the entire franchise.

Kiki: You are normal girls with no Saint training.
Kiki: Now donate a third of your blood to repair the Cloth.
Mariya (intelligent mode): Hey, if you are a Saint, why don’t you donate the blood and repair the Cloth yourself?
Kiki (short-circuits): ????????

I hope that now that the enemy is Minos he finally does something, because at this point he is the most useless version of Kiki in the multiverse, a disgrace compared to the Kiki from Omega and Episode.G Assassin.(n)

By taking his sweet time and going at it for another 15 years.... 😭

I had never seen the anime adaptation of Fuma no Kojiro. However, it is interesting that in this adaptation Buddha was replaced by a goddess (I suppose this change was inspired by Saint Seiya). They never reveal her name, so I assume she is an incarnation of Athena within the multiverse.😁

Although in the Fuma no Kojiro world it seems that the most important gods were those of Hindu mythology. At least that appears to be the case in the sequel, since the enemy was Indra, a god who was sealed by the ninja clans (among them the Fuma clan, Kojiro’s clan).
I’m sure he’ll stop making 8 page Thens and actually start making a normal manga
I hope that is the big announcement Kurumada has prepared for March, or at least that it will be the announcement of the anime adaptation of Next Dimension (which I hope Toei Animation actually puts some effort into it and fixes some of the manga’s issues).

Wait it has an anime? I've gotta find this lol

Yes, and along with Saint Seiya, it is one of Kurumada’s manga series that was fully adapted into an anime, and it was also adapted into a live action drama. The other manga series by Kurumada that were adapted into anime, such as Bt’X and Ring ni Kakero, do not have complete adaptations, and in the case of Bt’X, the series had an original ending.:cautious:

If Kurumada Suikoden integrates all of Kurumada’s series as part of a multiverse (or megaverse), I wonder how large that multiverse would be, considering that the worlds of Fuma no Kojiro, Bt’X, Ring ni Kakero, and others probably have their own parallel worlds and dimensions.

Curiously, Kurumada Suikoden presents the idea that the fate or history of worlds is written in books, an idea that Saito also references in Dark Wing, where we can see the Demiurge giving Matsuri a book to control the destiny of her world.🤓

This makes me wonder whether it was the Demiurge, or some creator god like him, who created the books we see in that story.

We know that gods exist in some of Kurumada’s worlds.
  • Saint Seiya: Greek gods and gods from other cultures exist.
  • Fuma no Kojiro: In this manga, we can see Buddha and Hindu gods.
  • Ring ni Kakero: It references Greek gods, since the Greek boxers are implied to be descendants of Greek gods, and the Kaiser Knuckles are mentioned as a divine weapon.
  • Bt'X: It is a world of machines and science, but it still refers to the existence of gods. When Metalface sacrifices himself to obtain the fragment of the Big Bang, a goddess appears to reward his courage and gives him that fragment, which is considered impossible for science to analyze.
  • Otoko Zaka: I have never read this manga, although I seem to recall someone mentioning that it has some references to Buddha.
  • Evil Crusher Maiya: I think it has a reference to the existence of gods, although I do not remember it very well at the moment.

Tier 1 stuff comes from Saint Seiya and a 2-A multiverse is established in Saint Seiya as well, so I doubt any meaningful scaling comes from outside the verse.

Ok ok, I'll do it, you don't have to keep pressuring me. I'll be the verses "Verse mod"/"advisor".

I read the page about Cosmo that they are using on the wiki, and I have some questions as well as some suggestions.

First, the most basic or least relevant.

Why does this page say that the Sixth Sense grants some basic Cosmo abilities?.

In the Saint Seiya universe, the Sixth Sense is not actually connected to the Cosmo, since the source of the Cosmos is the Seventh Sense. Those who manage to awaken/reach and master it gain access to the primary source of their Cosmo.

nxfVHRm.jpeg

Most Bronze Saints and Silver Saints, or Cosmo users in general, do not have mastery of the Sixth Sense, which in Saint Seiya is connected to mental abilities or psychic powers. While many characters in Saint Seiya have some psychic ability, not all characters possess this kind of power. For example, many Bronze Saints, Silver Saints, Mariners, Specters, etc., do not have any kind of mental power.

Here are some descriptions of the Sixth Sense in the franchise.

First, the description provided by Kurumada at the beginning of Volume 8 of the tankōbon edition, and Volume 6 in the Final Edition.
7l64it4.jpeg

This description mentions the connection of the Sixth Sense with mental powers, since those who manage to awaken and master this sense can use some kind of psychic ability.

The description from Cosmos Special:
聖闘士の超能力: 聖闘士は第七感である小宇宙を 爆発させることによって超人的な パワーを発揮するが、その過程に おいて第六感、すなわち超能力に 目覚めた者も少なくない。 念動力、読心術、テレバシー、 さらには異次元空間をも行き来で きる能力など、その超能力は各聖 闘士によって種類が異なる。
Saint's psychic powers: Saints exert superhuman power by exploding their Seventh Sense, the microcosm, but in the process, many of them have awakened to the Sixth Sense, the psychic powers. There are different types of Psychokinesis like telepathy i.e. the ability to read minds, and even the ability to travel through other dimensions, this supernatural power varies depending on the Saint.

Although this is not a direct description of the Sixth Sense, it does mention that it grants psychic powers and also notes that some Saints, by cultivating their Cosmo and approaching the Seventh Sense, can awaken their Sixth Sense. This is why some Silver Saints and Gold Saints possess certain psychic abilities.

The description from the Saint Seiya Omega DVD Box Vol.9:
P23zMCl.jpeg

Seven Senses
This refers to a super-sense that goes beyond the five senses that humans possess (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) and the so-called sixth sense, which is considered extrasensory perception. Those who master it can burn their cosmos to its absolute limit, but it cannot be passed down from others and must be acquired through one’s own effort. Therefore, only a very small number of Saints, such as the Gold Saints, reach this level. Additionally, awakening the Seven Senses often occurs by losing the five senses, as seen in Ryūhō in Episode 33. Even in the original story, Seiya and the others raised their cosmo to the level of a Gold Saint after having their five senses taken. As for the Virgo Gold Saint Shaka and Fudō, they deliberately blocked one of their five senses by closing their eyes, thereby increasing their cosmo.

Here, the connection between the Sixth Sense and psychic powers is mentioned once again.

Therefore, I suggest renaming that section from '6th Sense' to 'Cosmo Users' or something similar, to indicate that these characters use Cosmo but have not awakened any other special sense.

At the same time, the 'Psychic Abilities' section could be renamed to '6th Sense (Psychic Abilities)', since it is the Sixth Sense that provides these powers to the characters.

I suppose it’s not necessary to create a new topic for this change, since it’s just a renaming on the page to avoid confusion about the abilities granted by the different senses to the characters in the Saint Seiya universe.

The rest of the suggestions would be some details such as:

Add the superior intelligence and talents that Cosmo users possess. As I mentioned earlier, Cosmo users, and even those who have the potential to become a god's warrior, are considered geniuses with talents far above those of an average human.

Add the ability to see things that are invisible to normal humans. Cosmo is described as being invisible to ordinary humans; therefore, only Cosmo users are capable of perceiving this energy (Dark Wing Chapter 9). Likewise, Cosmo users (even those like Gioca, who cannot use their Cosmo and only possess some latent potential) are able to see ghosts or souls (TLC Gaiden Chapter 29). Even Manigoldo himself is surprised that Gioca can see that soul, which indicates that it is invisible to the eyes of ordinary humans.

Also, adding some extra details about the immortality and abilities of the Specters.

However, this would probably require a new topic. I also need to see the opinions of some of you on these additions, so I’ll leave it for later.

I also have a list of additions to that page… somewhere anyways

The latest chapter of Saint Mariya was very interesting.

In this chapter, it is explained that Kiki has not yet been chosen by the Aries Cloth; therefore, he is not a Saint. This explains why the boy has been so useless in the story. This also explains why Kiki used his blood to repair the Cygnus Cloth in the previous chapter, since he is not a Saint and, therefore, his blood cannot repair a Cloth. In addition, Kiki mentions that he does not believe he is capable of wearing the Aries Cloth, since his training was mainly focused on repairing armors; however, Shion believes that Kiki has been chosen to wear that Cloth.

We can also see that Pandora still has some control over the Specters, even though Queen was freed from the Evil Star in previous chapters. Pandora once again uses Hades’ power to dominate souls, allowing her to control Queen’s body and destroy the barrier created by Athena’s seals from the inside. It is mentioned that this barrier is indestructible to them from the outside, which is why Pandora can only destroy it from within.

The Specters directly mention the immortality they possess and how, as beings of the Underworld, they can resurrect indefinitely.
HP18Z4D.jpeg

This is the third manga to directly mention the immortality of the Specters, so I suppose that even those who believe that Kurumada does not use this concept in his story, and that it was something invented by Shiori, need to start considering this detail. Three different manga, developed by different mangaka and all mentioning the same concept—even after the end of Next Dimension—suggest that this is something Kurumada truly wants as part of his franchise.

Shion’s appearance (as a residual image created by his cosmo in the Pope’s helm) to save the day was quite impressive. In addition, we can see how, with his power, he reduces the Specters to cosmic dust to prevent them from resurrecting.

How destroying the Specters’ entire bodies is enough to stop them requires a more detailed explanation, but in short, the more damage the Specters’ bodies receive, the longer it takes for them to resurrect. Sometimes the damage is so minor that they can resurrect immediately, but other times, when the damage is too severe, they cannot rise again so quickly and must wait for Hades’ power to reconstruct their bodies or grant them new ones. This is something we previously saw with Alone, who granted new bodies to the Specters defeated by Dohko so they could resurrect.

Here is a detailed explanation of the Specters’ immortality, and perhaps it should be reviewed in order to analyze this concept more closely. As I mentioned before, I believe this is something that needs to be explored further, since it has not been explained very well, nor has the difference between the soldiers and servants of the Underworld and the 108 Specters been clearly defined, as the immortality of the latter differs from that of the rest.

In general, resurrection needs hades to will it so. So I suppose the more destroyed the body is, the more “annoying” it is to fix

An interesting detail in this month’s preview of the Saintia Sho chapter:

In this image, which depicts how Eris cursed the Equuleus Cloth in the mythological era, we can see that Eris has the same design as in the second movie. This could indicate that Eris from Saintia Sho, in her true body, has the same appearance that the Eris from the film.

This isn’t particularly strange either, since Kuori drew Eris (in Kyoko’s body) on the cover of Volume 16 with a shade of blue hair similar to that of Eris from the movie.

It’s curious to see how the latest manga are incorporating more references to the anime.

More proof of "Gods are multiversal constants" theory?

More proof of "Gods are multiversal constants" theory?
Yes, that’s exactly what I thought. This could be an argument in favor of the theory of gods as a multiversal constant.

Usually, fans who oppose this theory argue that gods in their true forms have different designs across the series in the franchise. One of the most popular examples is the difference between the gods in the anime and those from the manga, for example, the difference in Eris’ design.

However, looking at this chapter and the fact that Kuori seems to suggest that Eris’ design in her true form is the same as in the movie, one could argue that the differences seen between gods might just be particular events that happened in that universe. For example, in Sho, Eris’ body was completely destroyed (I assume by a divine weapon, which is why it could not be restored) and she needed a new body. Therefore, when a god appears differently in a series, it could be said that, due to an event in that universe, their body was lost and they had to obtain another one.

To be honest, this has never been a theory that I fully liked, since it seems like an overly complex concept for a franchise like this, but there is definitely some evidence supporting it.

After reading chapter 19 of ReRise.

I have to say that the fight between Poseidon and Pollux (Nemesis) was very disappointing, as it feels rushed, boring, and not very spectacular.

This made me wonder why the fights against the gods are usually so unimpressive. It’s as if, when they start fighting, the gods suffer a brain freeze and forget all the powers they possess, which drastically limits the scope of their abilities, leaving us with battles between characters who barely move.

In general, I think only The Lost Canvas and Episode.G are some of the mangas where we can actually see gods using their abilities and powers, and where the battles are more spectacular. Compare this fight between Pollux (Nemesis) and Poseidon with the one between Manigoldo and Sage against Thanatos, or even the fight between Degel and the Avatar of Poseidon’s power, where we can see water whirlpools and the entire terrain flooded, emphasizing Poseidon’s control over the seas. Even the mental or dream battle between Partita and Kairos in the latest special chapter of The Lost Canvas (I still haven’t found a translation or summary of this chapter) was more spectacular than the gods’ fight in this chapter of ReRise.

The rest of the chapter was as expected: Poseidon summoning his Kamui and defeating Pollux by expelling Nemesis’ spirit from his body—a finale that, as I said, felt anticlimactic. Also, that reference to the original manga (with the evil spirit extracted from Saga’s body) was unnecessary. Nemesis regrets what he has done and leaves, and Sorrento abandons the place with Julian, leaving the Generals behind, who decided to stay to destroy the meteor fragments (something Kasa considers almost impossible now that they don’t have Poseidon’s help).

The next chapter (and the final one of this manga) seems to bring back the Mariners Generals at meteorite or asteroid level. It would be really funny if they start sacrificing their lives to stop and destroy the bigger meteors, and in the end, Nemesis comes to help and sacrifices himself by crashing into the largest meteor to destroy it.
