the first quote does seem like talking about resistances, but the second quote is weird

it says power is A ability and A realm, it kinda sounds like it is refering to a specific thing instead of all abilities

It's a Cultivation Novel so realm in this case is referring to levels of power basically. Basically, the requirement to use abilities in this world is to reach a certain level of power and know how to use sed power.

For example, blood and spiritual power. Blood and vitality were powers born from the source of life. Cultivators would consume blood and vitality to guide the Heaven and Earth's Qi into their bodies to deepen their cultivation and reduce their lifespan.

^So here the MC had just unlocked Spiritual Power and had originally been using his Blood and Vitality as a source of power but it reduces one's lifespan, supported by the second quote.
