Aldebaran doesn't "create" natural lightning, he creates the clouds. He doesn't control or use magic for the lightning. He basically creates an enviroment for a true lightning to happen. So there is no amplification, not only it's not stated, the method itself is entirely different.
Al creating the clouds used to create natural lightning and creating natural lightning are not meaningfully different, but even in the case that he just creates the conditions where lightning can be naturally produced, the only way you could argue this was an antifeat in any meaningful sense is if you assume that Al refused/was unable to increase the speed/interfere with naturally created phenomena with mana, which they is no evidence for or reason to believe
He also directly talks about the speed of a lighting, so this is meaningless.
That's begging the question but ok dude, what's currently in question is whether or not those speed of lightning statements are meant to be legitimate determiners of speed rather than metaphoric language as how the term in japanese is typically used, you circling back to the initial claim that was already in question makes the argument circular.
Cecilus himself consistantly moves at that speed. Using an instance of where he goes faster is meaningless, especially when the text itself also says it's lighting speed there.
Aside from this assuming that your earlier claim which is already in question is correct, Cecilus gains the title due to being compared to the flash of lightning, which is light speed if we want to take your conclusion to its logical end, furthermore, if Cecilus in EX4 who is massively weaker and slower than he is currently given that he is constantly training to reach the heavenly sword is capable of moving faster than lightning, why would a stronger one which we see in the Arakiya fight be the speed of lightning, unless is he faster and slower than lightning at the same time
Aldebaran himself states it, compares it that way, shows it that way, later does it in a different way again.
The lighting isn't being affected by his magic, as we literally see the ENTIRE process of it happening, along with clarifying statement.
Al would only be a reliable narrator if you could prove he could percieve Cecilus, which you can't, furthermore, your argument here is an argument from silence, we know that he creates the lightning naturally, that does not mean that he cannot manipulate it with mana, in the same way we see Arakiya and Al himself manipulate earth with mana that was already there
You do, at least in the wiki. If you don't want to, i won't even bother and ignore it. (Sorry if it sounds rude, like i said, started from below and it's just long)
I know, i just didn't even see an argument there.
You have to show that all those moments etc refer to his living style to prove it. Or some statement to prove they all refer to such etc.
This is stated in Sword identity, the narrator comments that the way he lives his life is formless and impossible to keep up with, just like lightning, he is described to BECOME blue lightning, idk what you think either of those things would mean if the lightning comparison was speed based lol
Reinhard is at his WEAKEST in the sand dunes. You're comparing it to his normal state. I literally showed it in both OP and the comment i sent.
It doesn't really matter if he's at his weakest, if Reinhard in the Sand Dunes is > Reid and current Cecilus which is stated, he should also be far, far stronger and faster than the Cecilus multiple years ago who got oneshot by him whilst only holding a piece of a broken blade
That's no way to ignore a statement that is supported by the feat, twice.
Yes. Our standards are strict about it.
This just seems like you special pleading, if its stated she is composed of every element which makes up the world, which include beams of light, flames, earth, arguing that the lightning is somehow not identical to natural lightning is just you special pleading with no basis behind it, when we have far more evidence in favour of her actually creating the natural element
Same for that light state she's in, she literally can stop moving and etc. There isn't an actual comparison for it to be LS. Her power comes from absorbing spirits of that type to use those states of Magic/Mana. So, using Magic to create that, i would still disagree with the speed unless it's stated or shown as such. (I don't think we accept it either)
So, Yang Magic is more than enough for that.
Her light attacks, for example.
Already destroys light/laser standards.
Prove that? Specifically for the light beams she shoots at Yorna and Priscilla.
Tbh, that part is actually my mistake.
I sometimes write an argument like that just out of boredom, then delete it. Apparently i forgot, lol.
Reinhard is so much weaker and slower that he can't dodge it, as literally stated in the chapter, twice, and with him getting hit again and again, with not being able to dodge.
This is not a response
The chapter itself is as clear as it gets. Both Adult and Kid Cecilus has similar statements of speed, idc which one you take it as. Also, It's you who'd need to prove Reinhard, at his weakest while in the sand dunes, wouldn't take hit. Even then, we literally see it happening in the character, twice.
He doesn't. We LITERALLY can see the entire process in the scan.
This is an argument from silence, but on top of that, are you trying to argue that Adult and Kid Cecilus are both the same speed? When we see demonstrably that Cecilus has a ridiculous rate of growth in battle which goes from his speed being countered perfectly by Arakiya, to him straight up blitzing both her and Muspel at the same time which means he got a whole blitz level faster and is still deemed "lightning speed"
Shaula's method is different.
And Aldebaran doesn't "create" natural lightning, he creates the clouds. He doesn't control or use magic for lightning. He basically creates an enviroment for a true lightning to happen.
That's just arbitrary, just because Shaula uses a different type of magic doesn't now suddenly mean that they are different in the relevant sense here, you keep repeating that he doesn't create natural lightning, but that is not mutually exclusive with the claim being made, in the same way Balleroy doesn't make light from the sun, yet he is still capable of interferring with it using magic, that's sort of its whole thing, to defy the laws of nature and physics
So comparing it to Shaula is absolutely worthless here.
The text is extremely clear, dunno how you can even claim that. He himself claims it's lighting speed as well, what are you even saying? These are already included in the thread clearly, you're not making an actual point here.
Raisoku does not inherently mean lightning speed, again, you're taking the denotation rather than it's agreed on connotation for no reason aside from to ignore the massive amount of obviously light speed attacks and feats in the verse
That comes from raisoku not being a fixed value unlike light and sound speed.
It can be used for lightning's speed as a phenomenon, but you don't get an actual value as lightning speed itself is vague compared to sound/light speed. The author makes the comparsion clear here(Also about it being the landing speed of lighting), especially in Arc 9, Chapter 14, while Reinhard and Aldebaran fights. The speed of Cecilus's swordmanship, is stated to be at that level, directly compared to a true lighting speed.
You do know, that the author comparison to Cecilus makes your claim worse, because a holding back Cecilus is faster than lightning, and he consistently has feats and statements of moving faster than lightning, your case falls flat here.
So, Cecilus being lighting speed, and Reinhard in sand dunes not scaling to lighting speed is correct. Same for other characters as Reinhard still scales above them even in that state.
"Tappei says it takes him minutes to get to the moon and come down"
It takes HIM that long, not "It takes Regulus to send him that long". You're the one including Regulus while he wasn't even mentioned. Tappei's comment isn't about their fight, but was to just answer "How fast is Reinhard?" in q&a.
Yes it takes him minutes to get to the moon and come back, the HIM being in reference there is the subject who is being sent to the moon and the subject who is coming back, that doesn't now mean that it ignores all outside context. If I said "It took him fifty minutes to get to the store and back," that doesn't now suddenly mean that it's excluding the outside context of say, traffic or someone getting in the way, you're delibrately ignoring context in the series which Subaru is referring to there for the sake of an agenda, Subaru LITERALLY sees Reinhard get thrown.
You're just adding your own explanation there. Reinhard was in the space for minutes, he would see that regardless.
Thats the claim
Rom even believed it was possible for him to defeat Aldebaran and his team by himself, while knowing Garfiel and Ezzo were defeated, yet he chooses not to be optimistic since the things Aldebaran did; using the witch and breaking the conversation mirror.
He even claims it would normally be on the same level of Sword Demon.
Yet disregards it as Aldebaran didn't have that in him.
And Garfiel thought Reinhard was a regular person when they met, like who cares what Rom, someone who is weaker than Felt, thinks about peoples strength levels LMAO
You're mistaking it with what you consider "Effective".
Those characters are on that speed level, Whip is effective in terms of speed because it reaches that level. Not because "Oh, the whip destroys them and solos in speed" or that "they're helpless against the whip's speed" type of thing.
You're making a claim based on your consideration of "effective" to ignore the statement.
"Sirius stops a Whip using chains that surpasses sound speed = Whip isn't effective in terms of speed, Subaru's wrong"
You're even confusing what effective means, Subaru says that in terms of speed the whip won't lose out to superhumans, but based off the fact that we already know weaker people can be innacurate about guaging strength levels, on top of the fact that we see his whip blatantly not be effective against the superhumans of the world, combined with statements that Roy and Emilia can casually catch it without even trying/barehanded, it's obvious that it's just Subaru talking out of his ass there, hence, unreliable narrator.
If you're getting that type of ranges from "Around speed of light", "Exceeding sound speed", "Faster than sound". I really can't do anything for your belief over that.
Already explained the first part above.
For the latter, SHE KNOWS THEY CAN SEE IT. It talks about her previous believes, literally the next line states that. Aka the reason why she changes her aim from the head to chest.
It's not a flash of death because it's invisible but because it's fast. The text is extremely clear about it. This happens after she realizes both can see them.
How can "Flash of absolute death" refer to invisibility, at all.
Also, again, it's literally her fastest technique. She shouldn't be able to stop Emilia's spells after they're fired if the difference between speed is tens of thousands times or so.
I'm gonna ignore a good portion of this because again, it could just be interpreted as Subaru's own hubris towards the situation due to finally getting a weapon to actually combat superhumans with and doing lots of training for it, but you're misunderstanding the claim, YOU said that saying it's faster than sound implies relevancy, it's up to YOU to prove that implication is present, saying things like "it's obvious," or "just read" aren't evidence, they just intuition pump
Also, no, it's a flash of death because it's invisible, its range is unknown AND that the opponent is blinded by the flames that Yae chucked at her on screen (the text saying it's her fastest attack is removed from the LN btw) but the only time Emilia and Rem see it is with the ice mist, Yae does her Iai when there is no confirmed ice mist, twice, so idk what to tell you. Furthermore, it's her fastest SWING, not her fastest technique, here's the LN btw, translate it if you want to.
This thread should be closed again because I already plan on doing a major speed revision for the series as well as getting a couple of mistranslations fixed and approved by the mods, but you should really do better Tayman, this is silly stuff.
