Wikia is actually the worst thing ever very buggy so stuff like this happens in waves. As far as I know, you still get email notifications if you have those enabled but I guess that's not to convenient for huge threads.

This was happening to me a few days back.

I recommend doing this: Log out, log in again, Mark all notifications as read, immediately log out, then log in again.

The way around this problem is to open all of the threads that you did receive notifications about in separate tabs, and then quickly click "mark all as read". At least some of the hidden threads will then show up. Then repeat the process until the notifications are gone.

While I'm here could I point out that sometimes I get a notification from a specific site (VSB most often) but when I click on it there is no notification, I assume someone's already mentioned it but I find it quite irritating.

When the notifications initially to glitch, the stated number of them recurrently does not match what is displayed. You can solve this by clicking "Mark all as read" after first opening the relevant ones in new tabs.
