Yeah, "Reclassification" is just fancy words for saying an upgrade. I'm basically not sure at all about this so I wanted to possibly get more opinions on this.

In Imscared, we have "files" that determine the characteristics of an object. Right now we only treat them as Non-Corporeal things, but a certain user made me realize that how they work is very close to how we define concepts.

Namely, concepts are abstract things that transcend the material world and determines the characteristics of an object or a series of objects. And this is exactly how files work in Imscared. They're abstract things that transcend the material world (the "Gameworld" of the game) and determines the characteristics of objects. For example, there is a "file" for the gun object in the game. It contains all the characteristics of the gun and can be modified to modify how it is. And deleting it would presumably delete the gun (since it worked this way for other files).

If it is accepted, then the following would change:

-White Face gets Conceptual Manipulation since he can create, modify and destroy files. So all 3 kinds of Conceptual Manip.

-White Face gets Resistance to Conceptual Manipulation since he lacks a file to edit.

-The Playe gets Conceptual Manipulation via being able to modify and delete files.

Also whether or not this is accepted, WF should get "Nonexistent Physiology" since his profile was made before this was made and thus he lacks it.

Unsure rn. Is this something our reality fiction interaction allows?

The thing about files is already part of the profiles and of the cosmology of the verse, so reality-fiction thingies aren't really the issue here.

I agree and it is a similar case to Monika's.

I mean it's even worse than with Monika. The fourth wall literally does not exist in Imscared.

From the perspective of actual game files and stuff, they would function very much akin to concepts. Maybe? Idk, I'll see where this goes.

Isn't white face's 11-A key the irl computer program

@Woki Pretty much, yeah.

@Cal Like I said above, this has nothing to do with making the profiles even more meta than they are. As it stands, editing and erasing files is already a thing on the profiles. This is just to try and determine if they would correspond to concepts or not.

I'm not trying to bullshit game mechanics to upgrade the verse, everything I mentioned above is how files work in the game. This is how they are and must be used in the game to progress. This is pretty much the same as any verse having a unique part of the cosmology that must be associated with a set of powers, except it just so happens to be files here.

Aren't the Star Seed only for specific characters? Files exist for pretty much anything here. And do they have the same characteristics as described above?

I want to see more of Cal's input on this, since he thinks Imscared is being wanked. I might be fine with conceptual manipulation but am iffy on resistance.

And if it is conceptual manipulation, type 3.

Nope, In Sailor Moon everythings that exist possess a Star seed and it's "everythings" for a being, Galaxia can control it and make being into another things ect... (I didn't make a CRT about so maybe?)

Anyway IDK, maybe we can ask Kalt here? he is pretty informed about conceptual Stuff

@Zach Type 3 is for concepts that are destroyed alongside the object they're attached to, which isn't the case here.

@Causality Maybe?

So if I understood correctly, files=information that say how stuff is supposed to work, whether or not it exists etc?

In this case it's conceptual manipulation (information manipulation too but at this level they overlap anyway) and it sounds like type 2 (exist independently from reality, shape it, isn't shaped by it etc).

If the file is modified accordingly to the stuff that happens in game (example, you punch X, and X's file register the information "X has been punched") I don't know. It's a weird type 2-3 hybrid.

So I thought about it a bit, and I'd say i'm more solidly ok with concept manip for that.

@Kaltias

Pretty much yeah. However, the real object being destroyed doesn't destroy the file, so it's not full on Type 3 either. I guess Type 2 with a slight amount of Type 3.

For what it's worth, stuff that modifies the file tends to be temporary things like "How many bullets this gun have in this instant".

Nope. No upgrade for you.

The only files are the character files, yet they don't act like Imscared's files. They just act as a way to delete the characters.

Not to be rude but Cal's only opinion on this so far has been "Nope it's too meta, I don't like that". Unless he feels very strongly about it, I wouldn't consider his input necessary.

Modifying the object to modify the file still wouldn't be possible if it was 100% type 2, even minor stuff.

I'd say "type 3, likely type 2", followed by an explanation of how it works would be the best way to add it

Maybe. Well, it's more like his physical manifestations got the Mid-Godly yet his true self got Nonexistent Physiology.

Well, Type 9 is more for beings who fight with their avatars independently from their true self, which is not the case here.

Tbf you can have all of them at the same time, Madoka does that but with abstract existence instead of nonexistent physiology.

It depends from how WF's immortality works tho

@Kalt WF's immortality isn't too complex. Nonexistent omnipresent being that manifests itself through a variety of forms (His "White Face" form, HER, etc.) but does not need those to exist and spends a large portion of the game doing things in the background without any physical form. He lacks a file and is unaffected even when the folder related to him or even the entire game is deleted.

I wouldn't call it type 9.

It isn't a form that exists in a higher plane, but rather that the true form is nonexistence.

Final bump for the day before going to sleep. If by tomorrow there are no solid objections, I guess this would be good to go...?

Wasn't the problem on the files it's nature? This seems like it's cemented as metaphysical then, though maybe I'm remembering it wrong.
