Pokemon Discussion Thread - Red & Blue arc

What do you get for it?
Are you asking what the prizes are?

PlacementMastersJunior & Senior
Champion$6,000 USD$1,000 USD
Finalist$4,000 USD$750 USD
Semifinalists$2,000 USD$500 USD
5th to 8th$1,000 USD
9th to 16th$750 USD

But, well... It is in Baltimore, Maryland, the United States... (Honestly, I didn't even know/remember there was a state called Maryland until now, & when I found out there was, I didn't believe it.)

However, the Tournament is the first in-person one of the regulation (There will be more online ones, & maybe even already have been.), & its scheduling is:

  • Day 1: stream starts on 14 September at 13:15 UTC
  • Day 2 + Top Cut: stream starts on 15 September at 14:15 UTC

The start of it is about 1 day & 5 hours & 20 minutes away.

Even if you whip up a team in what is basically 1 day & then make Top 16 or better, you'll probably have spent considerable funds on travel costs.

But hey, if you wanna try, good luck! No offense meant.

Also, IDK if this is accurate, but the VGCVictory Road website says:

Sign-up instructions

Sign-ups for the event are done through RK9 Labs platform, and you will first need to set up your RK9 profile and have a Play! Pokémon Player ID.
Sign-ups are $70 for Masters players and $40 for Senior and Junior players, and they open on 31 July at 7 pm EDT (23:00 UTC).
Sign-ups sold out!
If the player cap is not reached, sign-ups close 2 hours before the event starts.
For registered players, team lists must be submitted 1 hour before the event starts, by 14 September at 7:30 am EDT (11:30 UTC).
Spectator passes are $15 and can be acquired here.

So you may not even still be able to enter at this point. Sorry.

  • Astral Projection: Sabrina heavily implies you can leave your own body just by honing your psychic ability
Unsourced?
Oh, I meant to get that source, thank you.
"Sabrina claims she can absorb peoples’ life force, though she was in character as Bellelba"

When was this?
Pokemon Masters, but VSBW didn't let me upload it with the source I pulled it from.

Pokemon is trying to sue Pal World over patents, which is... patently absurd, due to how vague many of their patents are. If this succeeds, it could set problematic precedents in the gaming industry.

I'm hoping that Pokemon gets some substantial opposition for this & they lose here.

Set a problematic precedent?

Unfortunately I think we're already there. A number of patents have already been enforced in the past to force lisences or go after companies that have violated them.

I don't think Nintendo will lose this at this point, and I'm not sure where we'd even start undoing the damage patents have already done to the gaming industry...

Embittering. Hopefully something like a petition or something can help.

This has annoyed me to no end, why do we still link darkness manipulation to the dark type when it isn’t dark as in literally darkness but as in evil in Japan. Which is pretty well reflected with many of the moves being underhanded tactics or hatred based rather than literal attacks of darkness.

Also did you guys see the lore leaks on pokemon. Arceus true self got beat up by giants and humans did it with a pokemon like directly stated. Crazy day.

My point is it isn’t darkness manipulation though. So it not being a power doesn’t matter. They are weak to evil not darkness.

I think because dark type moves have black and dark purple visuals associated with them. Also what leak are you talking about?

Unholy Manipulation

It’s not really like anti holy though, it’s just evil and rudeness. Though that would be closer than darkness manipulation.

Pokémon Horizons is confirmed to take place in Ash universe

Translation :

"It is set a few months after the final episode of Journeys and takes place in the world of Satoshi. A new original anime protagonist joins a group of treasure hunters, embarking on a journey towards a destination called 'Racua.'Traveling with the protagonist are colorful characters of various ages and professions, including navigators and Joeys. This series will depict a different relationship between Pokémon and trainers than previous anime. Depending on the regions they visit, historical trainers may join the protagonist's group, and familiar enemies might appear, allowing viewers to experience the Pokémon world through the new protagonist"

The leaks may downgrade Arcus since they clarify the chaos the heart is born from is the same Palkia uses to create existence and that it was the heart that made the creation trio not the avatar of Arceus. So both existence and the creation trio exist on the same level of existence as the heart. Also Arceus gets his name changed to Aus so cringe.

I doubt the legitimacy of Centro, and an it seems this is old stuff an excel sheet on what seems to be another version of the story shows a date saying 2005 and given this never actually been released in any official way if it's real I don't think we can count it.
Technically the definition of unholy includes evil stuff in general and we probably should have some way of listing the power of "good" and "evil" given that they aren't all that uncommon

We’ll see later but a lot of people across Twitter have been talking about recently leaks and this seems to be one of them. With better confirmation I’ll talk about it more later.

Also a good and evil as a power does sound like something that could be suggested on the powers thread. For goodness that isn’t holy and evil not demonic.

The only real reason I used unholy manipulation is this part of the summary: Unholy Manipulation is the power to control and generate energies, elements, objects and entities that have been deemed hellish, demonic or unholy.

Besides the issue with having the description of a power based on metaphysical properties describing it as shaped like itself the definition of unholy includes just being wicked as a definition, with something similar happening with the definition of holy but the description of the ability defines it as divine and/or sacred powers and not shaped like itself.

The Pokémon Myth document is very large and contains various versions of that creation history, that is just one of them. There was another one that had Aus become angry with humans and Pòkémon and was bringing the world back into nothingness, the Sinnoh Myth "Betray not your anger, lest ??? will come. Weep not with sorrow, or ??? will draw near. When joy and enjoyment come natural as the very air, that is happiness. Let such be blessed by the hand of Master ???." is a reference to that thing happening and was meant to remember humans and Pokémon to be always in balance, if not Aus will return and bring all that exists to nothingness.

The text also has notes explaining a few things, the myth is only a representation like the titans being born from the egg shell are to represent the fear and shock of separation from the mother's womb as inspired by Jung. Some stuff there is also directly stated to not be true, but just a way of portraying an idea. Like Ea and Ia being created from the left and right side of Aus, that is just a way of portraying the illusion of differences, that Pokémon and Humans are different, when that is all a lie, in reality everything that exists is a singular existence, the Absolute Aus.

One of the versions has the proto-dialga as a Dragon that carries the moon on the back and flies across the universe protecting the stars and planets.

Ah okay, didn’t know about the rest of the document, good to know then it’s the entire creative process of them going through which story should be used (also it flopping from absolutely 1-A to low 2-C in between them). Then yeah better to just stick with the game version we have know. Though I am curious on if Aus then is an official name since they consistently call him that.

They have about 5 versions of the "Pokémon and human used to marry each other" with examples of times when Pokémon and humans would mate and give birth to hybrids. The creation lore approves this, since humans and pokémon being different is a lie, they marrying and living as one is supposed to be the ideal.

Sad enough, this does still exist in the final version, as the Platinum Hiker event has the hiker directly call out the "humans and pokémon used to marry each other because in reality, they are the same". So yeah, that is still in canon, sadly.
