Or its a reference to how many lifeforms in the past were bigger because of higher oxygen content in the atmosphere supporting that.
Arguably wouldn't be the first time Pokemon's referenced such, with 1.2m Yanma's prehistoric evolution being 1.9m Yanmega, based on huge ancient dragonflies.
Plus, big stuff like dinosaurs.

Or maybe it's a reference to how Pokemon supposedly shrink as a self-defense mechanism to imply all the Future Paradox Pokemon are wimpy little cowards compared to their Past Paradox Pokemon counterparts.
