Pokemon Discussion Thread - Red & Blue arc

I seen it referred to as a manga, but I digress.
I have torn up copy of the black and white pocket comics where gigalith shoots boldore with the mountain destroying energy blast and boldore isn't even knocked out.

I also want to see this.

Please tell me if something is wrong.

For me, at least, left side of the page in the first scan is scarcely legible. Right side of the page in the first scan is a little better.
Lighting &/or angle may matter.
Still, thank you very much for your efforts!

It looked a bit better when I took the picture I saw the problem and tried adding the panels individually to the image grouping but none of the images show up it seems
Bruh did you take the first pic with a friggin nds camera?
i have tape on my lens protector

Oh so now adding images seems to work does try to copy the link mess with the process of adding images

Well ig the statement gets acknowledged at the very least
I mean we also get more support for the current rating for second stages.
Anyway the second photo of the along with the first attempt suggests a roggenrola used curse offensively before trick-or-treat and Terastallization existed.

Now I am trying to think about how good Trick-or-Treat and Forest's Curse would be on a prankster Pokémon. Trick-or-Treat could seriously mess up mons that setup with curse, give teammates immunities to fight and normal moves, and make things weak to knock off. Forest's Curse gives spore immunity to an ally, and gives weaknesses to heat wave, eruption, icy wind, and u-turn.

In the classic collection

Abra while sleeping reads a Meditite's mind who was wanted to draw a mustache on it. The Abra proceeded to telekinetically pick up a stick and write "I don't need a mustache" this would be a cool intelligence feat if it wasn't for the fact it is possibly a world more similar to mystery dungeon.

It also says dugtrio split from one body. Diglett gets limited duplication.

Deoxys creates aurora when transforming

Normal Wooper had a toxic film.

Magnemite's electromagnetic waves are referred to as emitting antigravity.

Vileplume is able to use its petals as a parachute.

I could probably find examples of things to use for scans in there.

I probably should have posted about this earlier, but VGC's Live Tournament Event Streams thing finally resumes in about an hour from now!

Um. Question. the link is to Leon's Game profile. Two, Leon's entire team is Tier 2 at this point, be it the Anime or Game variants, so Alain temporarily fighting Leon and holding his own (his feats with his Chestnaut and his Mega Evolved Charizard not getting completely fodderized by Leon's Charizard) somewhat should still likely make him Tier 2 as of Pokemon Journeys and would likely need another key, unless we're arguing he's still just as strong as he was during XYZ (Which, um, has a lot of problems to say the very least)

So what's your question?

All Masters 8 should scale to it yh.

Heck, even Paul should be allowed given he fought decent with Ash just before Masters 8

My question is shouldn't Alain have two keys: One for his XY portrayal and the other for his Masters 8 portrayal, and the Master 8 Portrayal should be the one that scales to Leon and thusly be Tier 2, removing it from his previous key ? Also, his previous ki should scale to 50% Zygarde and Groudon/Kyogre, considering his performance against them that Ash's profile already scales to:

Small Planet level (Not much weaker than Ash-Greninja. Fought Lysandre's Pyroar and Mega Gyarados, who could fight Alain's Mega Charizard X[Statistics Values 7]), higher with Ash-Greninja (Fought and matched Alain's Mega Charizard X, which can match 50% Zygarde)

Also, yeah all of the Masters 8 should scale to each other. They relatively are in the same ballpark.

Considering Leon's Charizard no-sold Alain's Charizard's only attack and was then oneshotted by a Dragon move WAY weaker than Dragon Ascent, no.

 • Ash's entire team is treated as scaling to Cynthia, not just his Pikachu and Lucario.
 • Leon's Rilabloom was oneshotted by Alain's base Charizard, the very same one who bodied Ash's Farfetch'd who could convincingly clash with Cynthia's Garchomp and deal considerable damage to it.
Alain actively scales to Tier 2 here as of the Masters Eight. It just means Leon's Charizard is a lot higher on the 2-B/2-A scaling.

Bump. I promise I'm not going to bump any further but I wanted to get this ridiculous notion out of the way

Btw I understand a lot of people believe Iris doesn't deserve to be in Masters Eight. But, her fight against Cynthia's team literally guarantees she scales to Tier 2. Her Haxorus giving a genuinely good fight and narration implying the battle between Haxorus and Mega Garchomp was close makes it practically unable to be doubted in my eyes. Because if Cynthia seriousy thought she didn't need Mega for Haxorus, why would she not only pull out her keystone but also say she'll fight Iris with all her might ?

The Masters 8 Tournament was just so poorly written that no one really cares what happened in it.

Mainly a respect thing tbh, which is cool but then against Ash she doesnt run a single ground type move like?

Sold so they could make Leon the strongest smh

I haven't kept up with the anime, but frankly? If characters are having battles with the major Tier 2 characters, then a CRT at least proposing keys seems entirely fair to discuss.

The issue being Pokemon CRT work is at a snail's pace, so not sure how quickly progress would even get done with it, but it seems worth a thread with screenshots of each battle.

I genuinely have 2 different dead Pokemon CRTs at this point. It's not a good time for CRTs lol

Didn't exactly say now, especially since nothing's getting done with Pokemon lately it seems... But the longer it goes on, the more things people wanna discuss are gonna stay in limbo.

You COULD, hypothetically, look at my Pokémon Physiology and Psychic Power CRTs and give a (hopefully positive) response.
Say, just wondering, Pokemon becoming stronger thanks to the bonds with their trainers and battling alongside them them and all that jazz would count as Empowerment of sorts? Would the affection mechanic apply here as well? I mean, the Pokemon curing themselves of ailments, scoring more criticals, enduring attacks with 1 HP left and all that.

At some point, years ago, I recall people arguing that Affection is Game Mechanics.

Personally, IDK why. It aligns with the series themes, & has dialogue & animations & a system for it, however shoddy they may seem.

The best case I can think of for it being Game Mechanics is not being useable in PvP. (I forget if it's useable in Raids, though.)

But online/multiplayer battling like PvP & raids are hardly exemplars, when they've always had consumed items respawning -What, did Pikachu find another Sitrus Berry when the battle ended to replace the one it ate or something?- even before that became a thing in the campaigns.
'course, to that argument's credit, consumables being replenished became a thing in the campaign -Among other quality of life/ease of entry features- while Affection has remained unavailable in the online modes it was excluded from.

Personally, I'd say Affection is worth indexing as though it's not merely Game Mechanics.

I am not really sure if this is legit edit or a vandalism, the thread linked to it is from way back 2022, so I have some doubts. But just in case I'll ask first here. Before taking it to wiki vandalism thread.

Hm. That thread seems to be about Trainers.

I think they are right it's profile says it scales above Leon and Leon has been rated tier 2 since 2023. It is correct, but I don't know if it follows the rules for editing.

I mean, as you say, affection ties with one of the core motifs of the franchise which is the bond and friendship between a Pokémon and their trainer, and the games acknowledge it as the Pokemon's willpower and determination for the sake of their partner to perform better in battle (emulating the Plot Armor seen in the anime and manga), so it's not a gameplay only thing, like taking turns or set HP damage. We have to remember that game mechanics refer specifically to things that are exclusively in function of the player's experience, not simply something that pops up in combat.

And all of the boons of affection can easily be classified in abilities, Supernatural Willpower for surviving with one HP, Self-Purification for removing status effects, Enhanced Pressure Points for more crits (criticals are already listed as such in the Pokémon Physiology page) and Enhanced Accelerated Development for the extra EXP. So that shouldn't be much of an issue.
