One Piece: Thriller Bark Size Change

Revising Thriller Bark's size.

This new calc for Thriller Bark has been accepted

The old calc should be replaced with the one above for a couple of reasons:

  1. Uses angsizing instead of pixel scaling, unlike the new one
  2. Unrealistic results

Addressing the second part of the OP first.

The reason given for why nobody can grasp its size there is because it is its full dimensions are shrouded in mist. Not because it so unfathomably huge.

The Queen Mama Chanter doesn't have an official size figure I believe, but even if we deduce its size by comparing it to the Sunny I don't think we have any confirmation that Big Mom's ship is over 1680 meters in size.

Also, the currently used calc of mine in the OP that you've linked to only has 1680 meters for the land inside Thriller Bark. Thriller Bark as a whole ship is 1953 meters across.

And now addressing the first part of the OP:

Uses angsizing instead of pixel scaling, unlike the new one

The calculation linked in the OP for the current size of Thriller Bark does not use Angsizing in Method 1. Just pixelscaling.

If you use that image, I'm pretty sure it's nearly 10x the size of the Sunny.

The Thousand Sunny is 39 meters long. Even if the Queen Mama Chanter was thirty times longer than the Thousand Sunny, it'd only be 1170 meters long and smaller than Thriller Bark.

Yee but it seems to be much bigger than that

Tarte-Ship-Width.png

Thousand Sunny length = 105px (39m)

Tarteship width = 136px (50.514285714286m)
Germa66-Castle-Top-Height.png

Tarteship width = 32.7px (50.514285714286m)

Germa66 Castle top height = 478px (738.40454346877m)
Big-Mom-Ship-Size.png

Germa66 Castle top height = 29px (738.40454346877m)

BigMom Ship length = 107px (2724.4581431434m)

Would also be somewhat consistent

I'll just note for now that Thriller Bark's title is the world's largest pirate ship, which doesn't necessarily mean the longest. I wouldn't say the Queen Mama Chanter being pixelscaling to be 2724 meters long (assuming the pixelscaling is correct) is an automatic debunk of the existing calc. Especially since we don't know how long the Queen Mama Chanter has been around or if the old man who made the original statement of Thriller Bark is aware of it.

EDIT: I've also found some panels that suggest the Queen Mama Chanter may not be as large as that.

The statement isn't only from the old man

That would make no sense especially when ships are scaled based on length and height, both of which big mom ship would be bigger in

My "debunk" was only for your statement saying that the big mom ship being only 1170 meters long even tho it can be scaled way higher

The reason given for why nobody can grasp its size there is because it is its full dimensions are shrouded in mist. Not because it so unfathomably huge.
If the land was less than 2 kilometers, they would be able be able to easily find out a range of its size regardless of the mist. This implies a much larger size.

The Queen Mama Chanter itself when compared to the Sunny can be larger than 1.9 kilometers as discussed above, and as MoL said, Thriller Bark was stated to be the largest ship not only by the old man.

That's fine. Mine calc would still take precedence due to inconsistent scaling:

Inconsistent Measurements

When evaluating the size of objects depicted by an author, it's important to consider that the author may have depicted them inconsistently for artistic reasons. A primary example occurs if the author has to show a large object and a comparatively small object at the same time. In such a case they might have to depict the two objects as similar in size for the sake of making both easily visible to the reader. When deciding on the appropriate size scaling to use, such inconsistencies should be taken into account.

Oars is very often depicted as much smaller or much larger than he actually is depending on the intent of the panel. As described above, Thriller Bark is a very massive ship/island. A 60 meter being being that easily seen from that far away makes me question that panel's validity in determining Thriller Bark's size.

This is not true also btw, Both in viz and in raws it's says that it's so huge you can't see it's whole size

巨大すぎて全貌などわかりますまい
It is so huge that you can't see the whole picture.

Actually, wait, how I respond depends on if we're going with the calc in the OP or Monkey's re-calc. Do you have any comments on Monkey's point above @Kachon123 ?

I'll just note that, assuming the Queen Mama chanter was around for the early stages of Big Mom's time as a pirate (which I think is plausible considering how prominent she already was as a former rocks pirate and possessed a road poneglyph even before Roger found the One Piece), then that would mean Thriller Bark was made after this. As far as we can tell, Thriller Bark was made after Gecko Moria's defeat at the hands of Kaido, since there is a distinction between the Gecko Pirates (the crew that fought Kaido) and the Thriller Bark Pirates (Moria's reformed crew on Thriller Bark).

Also, this is off topic but I think it would be a good place to ask. Do you all think it would be possible to scale the size of Hachinosu off of Thriller Bark once its exact size is formally codified in this thread, or would that be considered Calc stacking? I was considering doing an Honesty Impact calc in the future, and it would make my life a bit easier to just scale the island off the ship rather than something else.

MonkeyOfLife's version works, Kachon should correct his version of the calc

Okay, I'll wait for Kachon to do that before proceeding with my argument.
