One Piece General Discussion: Elbaph

The ending of Skypeia was nice but overall it felt like such a chore to get through imo
Skypiea was awesome, there was all that dope-ass lore and it's one of the times in the series you see a huge-ass battle royal with armies of side characters, and Enel makes it explicitly clear that every combatant is important.

I got a good question: what is the worst arc in One Piece?
I can't imagine one. Most people say Punk Hazard, Skypiea, or Fishman Island, but those last two were actually cool as hell, so I'm gonna say... probably Punk Hazard??? Maybe Reverse Mountain because it was entirely centered around one character, but I like that one too. I'm leaning Punk Hazard anyway because some of the Straw Hats just kinda feel weird and the body swap thing was kinda just a gimmick-y thing Law never mentioned again.

The Noland-Kalgara flashback was peak. Oda wrote it into the climax of Luffy vs. Enel, ending with Wyper's perspective on Mamaragan and the impending Kingdom Come. The way Wyper connected the story of Noland, Kalgara, Cricket, and his people (thanks to Robin) and, because of that, delivered the final blow to the Giant Jack, helping Luffy reach Enel, disperse the storm, and ultimately defeat him, was masterful writing

Honestly including actual full arcs that aren't literally 6 chapters long for me, it's Skypea, but it should be fair that this is like choosing your favorite pizza, so many choices are amazing(for instance, I enjoyed Thriller Bark's theming and no shit the introduction of my favorite strawhat isn't going to be my pick for worst lol)

With Skypea, getting to the ending just feels really slow, even if that ending is good as all hell. Still, shout-out to Return to Sabody for being the shortest Arc with the weakest villain in the series character-wise. At least as the others are amusing and Buggy is relegated to comic relief

Punk Hazard or Fishman Island for sure

much like what SlendVeny said, the body swap gimmick was awkward as hell and I honestly hated it the whole way through. Law was cool though

Yes, I did not like Punk Hazard as much as other arcs either. 🙏

Least favorite Pre-Timeskip arc is Syrup Village Arc.

Least favorite Post-Timeskip arc is Fish-Man Island Arc.

(If we're discounting arcs less than 10 chapters long, at least)

Fishman Island was pretty eh in the manga, but absolute dogshit to slog through in the anime. Hody is still the worst villain in One Piece with the least amount of presence.

Though he does significantly upgrade the verse if you don’t lowball the amount of pills he takes, so….nevermind, best villain in the series.

Fishman Island isn't about Holy ngl. It's about... Fishman Island. Otohime. Tiger. Shirahoshi. Jinbe.

The fights were necessary to threaten the Straw Hats JUST enough to make them show off their new skills.

It translates to Blue Star, but I think it's meant to be/mean Blue Celestial Body

This was initially revealed from Enel's cover story or on the Databook green or something that I think added on to Enel's cover story

I got a good question: what is the worst arc in One Piece?
Oh man, it's hard to chose since most of it have it's pros and cons that are understandable
Skypiea was chore yeah but the lore and the final battle saved it and it's peak, and Enel is prolly my fave villain
Punk Hazard was weird but it's mostly because of the soul swap that made it weird, rest was great and Law introduction and the build up for the conflict of Doflamingo to Kaidou was awesome
Fish-Man Island was mostly a show-up of the crews after the timeskip, Hody was meh but what made me like it is the background and the flashback of Fish-Man Island itself, especially how it shaped Mosjgard too, and Shirahoshi is a great heroine to me and the plot twist about her being Poseidon is still peak

I think I chose with Thriller Bark as the worst, the addition of Brook was great (and the flashback about his past was awesome), Zoro vs Ryuma was good, Kuma introduction was scary as heck, and Perona was hilarious, but otherwise it's the weakest arc, no awesome background of the place (it just a massive abandoned ship), Moria is pathetic, and it's crew was forgettable sans Perona, it's more of horror-thriller parody with action

The English voice director also said some celebratory words on the matter.

Big congratulations to her and all of her collaborators for this massive milestone in bringing this amazing story to life. 🙏🙂❤️
