There is such a thing as legitimate honest literary criticism, preferably based on valid arguments against genuinely amoral and destructive practices.

However, my impression of this video was that it was mainly just an assembly of petty and misleading vitriole that attempted to tear down what may be the greatest achievement of a single comic book artist in history and its very self-sacrificing, compassionate, moral, and progressive creator for extremely trivial, distorted, and exaggerated reasons. Basically poisonous insincere/hollow postmodern mockery mainly for the sake of attempting to gather applause for the critic at the expense of very unfair agitation against a much nicer victim. 🙁

So in summary, I definitely don't have two thumbs up for the video, but I might have shown its creator two other fingers instead.

Exactly, i'm immediately knew that there was something off the very first time i see the video, and after watch it i must ask myself if he actually read One Piece.

With the jokes that just don't make sense or even mischaracterize story and characters like "all ex slaves become slavers", "anyone can leave the Grand Line everytime they want" or "Zoro is sexist".

Also its just me or did he also blackwashed Vivi?

Well, I read in the comments section that he is blacklisted from the anime industry due to deliberately rewriting and mischaracterising the English localisation versions of scripts due to hating the creators, so he is likely bitter over that, and as such took a massively poisonous and meanspirited swing of completely unfair mischaracterisation against the most popular manga and anime series in history, mainly out of vengeful spite and envy of Oda's success, and partially because he seems to be the kind of "All men who think that physically healthy fully grown women with big breasts are beautiful are automatically misogynistic bastards!!!!!!!!!!!" "progressive"/fanatically intolerant and likely mentally unbalanced radical feminist that gives much more sane and reasonable progressives (including myself) a bad name.

He is so corrupt that he would even attack somebody like Oda, who has worked himself to death fighting against slavery, tyranny, and bigotry, and for freedom, tolerance, kindness, friendship, equality, and solidarity for a few decades, including fighting for trans-rights long before it became fashionable to do so.

What an absolutely smug, entitled, petty, poisonous, vile, and reprehensible destructive scumbag. 😡

What do you mean? Oda himself selected a brown actor to play her in the Netflix adaptation.

Okay. Well, more proof that the corrupt voice actor who created this video did not properly familiarise himself with the content then. He just wanted to tear down a much nicer and more successful creator in order to benefit himself.

You should all feel free to flag the video in question for hateful harrassment if you wish.

It is deliberate lying and hate-propaganda against the creator of the comic book with the likely greatest positive impact in the world in history, so I personally do not think that this type of hate-speech video should have the right to exist. But do as you wish. Others should have the right to flag it if they feel otherwise though.

I have a lot to say about this video, but Jello's section about meaningless characters is really what stood out to me, even as someone who personally has admittedly really shit takes on One Piece myself.

Firstly, a lot of it's just wrong. For example, you can't cut Trebol out of the story because if he didn't kick Usopp's ass, Dressrosa probably would've gone very different and a lot of plotlines that are ordained for the Final Saga wouldn't be able to happen.

Slime literally says Kidd, Killer and Basil Hawkins are insignificant characters whose removals wouldn't change the story, just to give an idea of the level we're at with this.

Secondly, what's even the point? Most of these are just minor characters which are designed to keep the story flowing, exist for some logical purpose, and/or barely even appear after the arc they're shown in. Removing them would detract from the story, especially in Water 7, Skypiea, Impel Down and Dressrosa.

You could say the same thing about some of these characters as you could about getting rid of Commander Cody in Star Wars Legends and giving his plot elements to other characters, like Rex. But what's the point of removing a character whose presence does add at least substance to the story?

Lastly, even on a small and unsubtle scale, the series is littered with stuff like this to illustrate the dynamics between the Strawhats. It's as if Jello's so completely illiterate that the existence of side characters clouds him from seeing anything but goon material.

Was gonna watch but judging from the vibe here, it seems like a video not worth watching lmao.

Yeah it really is just him hating on One Piece. Not sure if it's actually because he hates it or, like Antvasima said, it's a way to clap back at the anime community because he got rightfully flamed for a stupid thing he did in the past. But it's probably both because he seems to actively bring up a lot of "bad" things about the manga, like how Oda draws and treats the women in it. Even includes a part at the end that basically says he's a pedophile and mentions how he drew Rebecca, Carrot, Shirahoshi and another girl that I forgot the name of. But like, a lot of mangakas do that? For example Togashi sort of did it, Kubo sort of did it (well, he just gave a teenage girl really fat boobs, though I don't recall him actively sexualizing her besides making boob jokes with her), hell even Toriyama did it. I doubt they're all pedos too, it's likely just something they do to attract people to read their stories, in a way. After all every single mangaka mentioned was writing a manga for teenage boys, who are probably the demographic that would like fanservice the most. What's even funnier is that even if he were right and Oda is one, it'd still have been much better to just not mention the "he draw teens with the bodies of adults" thing and instead talk about how he was supposedly friends with a pedophile.

By the way, there's a lot of jokes about Shiryu being a janitor, mostly on Reddit and Worstgen.
Is this just a slander name or did something else start it (i.e a bad translation or something).

The dude is clearly just a salty washed animator with a failed series who's upset because he got criticized for turning it into garbage. It's 8 minutes of crying and I hope he's happy that he got his 200k view banger since his channel peaks at 5k views per video nowadays.

Well, some of his old "So This is Basically..." videos have received millions of views over the years, and it has only been two days since he released this one, so there is unfortunately a significant chance that this slander video will end up having similar viewer numbers over time.

Yeah it's obvious that he was mad and decided to knock two birds out with one stone by coping about One Piece on video for views.

I doubt that because the OP fandom is a very big fandom but it's still chock full of people who are really passionate about the series and wouldn't blindly tolerate someone not only hating on the series it self (i.e trying to say the fights suck and the characters have bad designs), but also actively insulting the creator of the series and framing him as a diddler.
Also, compare this to stuff like his Cowboy Bebop review, and it's clear just how meanspirited this really is. He seemed to only ever have this energy with One Piece specifically, beforehand his stuff was rather light hearted.

"all ex slaves become slavers"
He used like, Macro, too, who I'm pretty sure wasn't a slave, and then complained about all the irrelevant characters.
"Zoro is sexist".
That's a little true, Zoro do sometimes be holding back more against women who can actually fight than he does against fodders for some reason(pretty sure Tashigi specifically called that out), and also there was that moment where he was like "Whoah, Enel, you hit a woman?" and Enel was like "Bro, I am literally fighting you all rn, the **** you think I was gonna do?", which like, based Enel, you can't just hold back against like half of all possible opponents.

I'm sure that's all building up to a big Zoro vs Tashigi fight, though.

Ooo, Clone Troopers
fordo-arc-trooper.gif

I'm pretty sure the sexism thing isn't even because he hates women or has any bad intentions for them, I think it's related to his backstory with Kuina more than anything.
Yeah, it's gonna tie back, he's totally gonna have a flashback to Kuina and be like "Oh, ****, you're so right" at some point during a major duel.

The last part seems like a joke, I'm not sure how taking control over the person would even work/how that's even possible to begin with. But the reforming part seems sorta legit? Ties back to the whole true body of a logia, so I can see it.

Sooo, just another Oda joke or a Kuzan is just THAT guy?

I think that Oda was just joking around. We shouldn't give Kuzan possession or body puppetry based on something like that. 🙏
