One Piece Discussion Thread #5

Even though she lost, I personally count her vs. Moriah as her second 1v1 as a SH.

The only thing memorable about Robin vs. Hammond was Robin showing off her new Cuerpo Fleur and Double Clutch techniques. And I hated that Hammond was already damaged from G2 Luffy's attack on him before the two had their exchange.

Tbh, I never thought for a moment that Robin would fight Diamante. It was pretty clear to me that he was always meant to be Kyros's opponent. But Damage I felt the same way about him teasing Robin vs. Gladius, especially after Robin's speech. I now know the reason he ultimately let Bartolomeo defeat him to build him up as a future member of Luffy's Grand Fleet, however, it was still really frustrating that she was the only Straw Hat to not legit defeat one of the Executives while he let Usopp get two victories off Sugar! And even Brook got to defeat Jora before he and his group left for Zou! Honestly, I was so peeved about how Oda handled Robin fight-wise in that arc that it took a while for me to realize that while she didn't get her own fight, she still got to show her battle prowess and still managed to have some awesome moments against Trebol, Diamante, Gladius, Sugar's Headcracker Dolls, and Hakuba. Plus, I thought Dressrosa was really great for Robin character-wise.

I just want things to be much different for Robin in this new arc. I want to see her get a lot more screentime, do more than just restrain her opponents when she fight them, and be given great battle moments just like Nami got in WCI. Something that I don't want to see, though, is her stuck being someone's bodyguard. Even if she did protect Rebecca like a boss. I actually liked the scene after the end of the Kyros vs Diamante fight where it's revealed she got injured by some of of the spike iron balls from Death Enjambre, but kept her pain hidden from Kyros and Rebecca.
 
Also, that's not really regen. Worst damage we've seen his body recover from is cracks and missing teeth.
 
Yeah imma get that game,would be freaking awesome if it gets animated as well. I like the story of it and could be awesome if it was canon as well
 
She's actually a fresh air for the crew.

  • She is the cute kind of girl. We have no girls in the crew like this so it's new.
  • She has no tragic past but she has a tragic event that happened just a while ago. That's a big point for character progression. On top of that she suffered from that with the crew so it's a point for being part of the family. They suffered it together and that emphatizes the connection.
  • With Jinbe a confirmed member we have a Fishman and with Carrot we'd have a Mink. Two exotic races in the crew. Before that we have humans (and a reindeer-human but still).
  • She's a explorer. She's always curious about the surroundings and it's quite the same kind of adventurer Luffy is so they are greatly compatible.
  • Is a very strong fighter and doesn't rely on DF or weather so it's more like Sanji and Luffy when it comes to fight. This is new aswell. And her combat style is incredible.
  • Is so lovable.
 
Yeah I totally agree. I feel like her role would be something like surveying the land and environment while the crew makes land on an island they never been before. She grew up in the wild so I think that her and Luffy would be compatible like you said
 
It is a recurring theme that the Strawhats have a tragic backstory so it's a breath of fresh air.

Zoro and Usopp have the least sad ones comparatively and they were the earliest ones reveled
 
I agree. Time for me to read up on these other one piece discussions. Hopefully one piece characters can get back to 6-B.

I read somthing on the ice's durability on the ice continent. People really need to take that into acc. The ice can't be melted or pixaced. Not even don chinjao's normal head left a scrach on it and he was pounding his head against it for days. Even if don chinjao did not split the entire continent (which he he had no intention of) it would still be a really high feat because of the durability of said ice continent.


Alao why is it that people say the ice continent isn't a continent¡ I'm sure that if it was an island it would be named ice island. A continent is somthing larger than an island.

It's truw that oda draws islands and such in a way where you see the whole thing. And isn't always consistent with the views of the island. Like, in alabasta, they had to swim a length of a river which was 50km/31miles. On the map said river looked really thin.

For Zoan Awakening, the four jailor beasts in Impel Down are examples and there hasn't been any showing of Logia Awakening, though it is speculate that what happen to Punk Hazard is the result of Awakening between Aokiji and Akaniu but not confirmed or debunked from my knowledge
 
Do the zoan awakenings give them any new abilities like the paramecias being able to change the environment around them into whatever they control?

No, or at least that wouldn't the standard for most Zoan Awakenings.
 
But it should be noted that Jailor Beasts have regular animals transformations, it could be somewhat with Mythical and maybe even Ancient Zoan and they get new abilities other than increased statistics.
 
It's actually headcanon for me that Marco's awakening is his ability to share his regenerative properties with others and it was only after the war of Marineford with death of both his captain (Whitebeard) and his fellow commander (Ace) that his Devil Fruit Awakens for the first time due to the violent mental trauma of letting them die Awakens his Devil Fruit.

It is kinda sad that he could have potentially save both if he just Awaken his Devil Fruit power earlier.

It was also stated that the Jailer Beasts have more stamina and recover faster as part of their awakening.

Ace's death is the saddest everytime I see it I end up crying
 
I don't know. Cora-san's death touched me even more.

That's why I flapping hate Vergo so much.
