well the manga is also reviewed by kishimoto regardless so it dont really get more canon unless you think stuff done by kishis hands are the only things that are canon

I believe the canon movies would be the last, boruto movie and road to ninja (these are essentially produced straight from the source aka kishi)

Kabuto's also got incredible healing powers that work on himself, essentially negating the drawbacks, and a natural talent worthy of Orochimaru's respect.
