Mythology Profile Standards

Good point.

I think that it was argued in previous threads regarding this subject, that mythology profile pages based on specific works, such as the Illiad or Journey to the West can stay, but not any other ones.

I'd still require a list, I think there are about 20ish pages which genuinely do remain

Okay. I unfortunately do not have the time to investigate. My apologies.

Okay. That is good. Thanks to them then.

Oh yah I missed a few humans

Agamemnon, Diomedes, Telemachus, Odysseus and Tydeus stay for same reasoning as Achillies
Midas can also stay ig since there's really only 1 tale about him

Thank you to everybody who are helping out

Personal side note, should I revise the TT Tom profile in a sandbox before updating the profile?

Also should we even have a Mythology page? If it just includes characters from other works it seems the category Mythology should be enough. As they aren’t really based purely on myth but rather other works.

I am not sure.

As long as we include an explanation text regarding what is and is not allowed to be included for the mythology part of the wiki, I think that it would likely be useful to keep the verse page.

Ok

The real issue is what is it for? Just so people can find myth based characters? Isn’t that just what categories are for though? My main issue is the Mythology page was always really meant for profiles based strictly in myth, and was basically a composite of all myths for no real reason other then they fall under the “myth” category. I mean, Moby Dick isn’t a myth so I don’t know why its verse page is Mythology. The Two-Toed Tom profile will be based on a
Two Egg, Florida: A Collection of Ghost
Stories, Legends and Unusual Facts, so wouldn’t it be better to be under that verse/verse page? I’m not sure if I’m explaining my self well my apologies. But it seems characters should be on other “verse” pages which would make Mythology (the page) obsolete.

Two-Toe Tom should be fine, then. Feel free to revise it!

Zark/Imp mentioned that once the revisions go through, the Mythology page will als be deleted and the pages will now have their origin for their specific source.

The thing Apex listed seems like a compendium of myths rather than its own legit source originating them.

This is me making pages off Wikipedia articles claiming they're in the same canon because they're all on Wikipedia

Geoff:

We need some organised way of finding these pages while simultaneously instructing people about the rules for including them in a convenient manner.

Also, this is a staff forum thread.

Anyway The_Impress makes a very good point.

Yes, I can help out.

Just to confirm, what pages need deleting?

Big thanks to both of you.

Can you give them thorough good instructions Impress?

Well Two-Toed Tom is still in the category but I guess it would be fine to delete him for now as I’m currently working on the profile and it will be a bit different than the original.

Everything in the Mythology category right now. All the pages unaffected have been edited off already.
Hmm. Those pages should preferably be re-added to the category afterwards.

In any case, everybody who help out, please remember to also update the other pages that link to the profiles that are being deleted, and to link to this thread in the editing descriptions during the deletions.

I'll go through and delete them now. I'll remove any vs threads as well, but I'll leave any blog page in the category.

Thank you for the help. That seems good.

Also, preferably keep the verse page and remove all the links in it to character profile pages.

I'm neutral on the deletion overall, but @The_Impress You're having a massive overreaction; I'd understand if these religions and their followers had perished only recently, but most of them have been gone for millennia. A passing comment like Cal's really doesn't need you to, quite frankly, be several times worse.

Uhhhh... I guess I'll go ahead and ask Ant why the verse page should be kept when it has been agreed on they would basically be not related at all beyond such a category, if anything, we don't have a verse page for public domain characters, for instance.

We need some organised way of finding these pages while simultaneously instructing people about the rules for including them in a convenient manner.
As I explained earlier.

In any case, we either need the Mythology category re-added to the remaining pages that it was removed from, or add new categories for each of the specific books that they are based on.

Okay then. Are any staff members willing to apply that solution then?

In addition, we also need to decide how we should modify our existing Editing Rules.
