My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

This might genuinely be the cleanest punch I've seen thrown in MHA. Got me extra hyped for the next chapter.

(Minor jjk spoilers, don't read further if you're not up to date)this reminds me of when gojo landed a black flash on sukuna ngl

Well the spoilers somewhat confirm my Theory of one final clash.
Since he is going to use Omni Factor Unleash. And the chance of Shiggy returning seems lower now.

So Omni factor unleash vs 100% Smash. Next chapter is going to be rad.

My god fellas, Horikoshi just keeps writing pure greatness.

Izuku runs towards AFO with everyone giving him their support. Kurogiri appears to be done with warping now, looks like his fog was melting as well. Might be time for Shirakumo to finally be put to rest.

It's confirmed that none of the heroes can harm All For Shiggy, and Camie points out that her illusions aren't working on him unlike with AFO. Illusion resistance?

The plan is just to clear a path to All For Shiggy so Izuku can reach him, he's the only one that can actually harm him. It's also confirmed What AFO's has been doing is Omni-Factor Unleash, but far more controlled now that it's not being fueled by his emotions. Fires off a large amount of attacks and one big laser beam.

Hagakure intercepts it and uses her Quirk to bend it away. Even saying that dealing with light has always been her specialty. Not going to say anything, you already know. Momo makes a Railgun at the same time that's charged by Kaminari, though the attack does literally nothing to AFO as expected.

Everyone continues to block/divert or help Izuku avoid AFO's attacks. Almost thought the chapter would've been titled Do Your Best or just Deku at this point.

AFO finally realizes why the heroes keep getting back up. I don't need to explain it again, I already said as much months ago when Kaminari was questioning why he doesn't feel confident in Izuku's victory. Kind of cool to see it get stated in universe as well, and to see them actually act on those feelings.

Gentle gives Izuku a boost and Iida catches him before he can trip. AFO tries to attack them but something stops him, and we see the holes on his hand bleeding. Might be a sign of Tomura doing something still, clearly this is something internal.

Jet pilots are still alive and are patching up All Might. Rody from World Heroes Mission shows up and cheers with everyone as well.

People will still say the movies aren't canon and only the characters are.

America's President gives the order to send all Pro Heroes to Japan. Finally, at long last I'll see Koichi and Captain Celebrity? Don't even care if they don't fight, just want to see them. Izuku's father is going to hitch a ride somehow and this is where we'll finally see him at long last.

Okay, seeing everyone cheer for Deku while All Might calls him the Greatest Hero is really heartwarming. God, this will mess people up when this gets animated.

Inko finally yelling our her own encouragement towards Izuku, as he lands a big ole Smash right into AFO's chest.

Chapter 422, Izuku Midoriya: Rising

I never saw it coming. So what's Izuku hoping to accomplishing by punching the regenerating monster?
Horikoshi has been outdoing himself almost every single chapter at this point. I think it's safe to say we're finally reaching the actual ending at this point. I still think something else will happen, but it should be the absolute last thing if it does. And I highly doubt it'll be long.

MHA has been one of the most amazing rides I've been on. Regardless of how people feel, it's continued to entertain me without fail and I'm always looking forward to it whenever a chapter comes out. It's going to be a bit strange when it finally ends, but I don't regret a single second of this.

@TheRustyOne

I think this time Izuku will send himself in along with the embers of One For All to return to the mindscape within Tomura, to rescue him from All For One - since, as you pointed out, they can't deal with AFO's regeneration.
While I can see and believe Tomura/Tenko dies here. I do doubt we aren't going to see him again, especially when we know he exist and AFO has to shut him up.

There will be one more mindscape event where everything finally comes to an end. Might even be a rising chapter for Shigaraki as well, since he did have a origin chapter.

Yeah I'm 100% anticipating a "Tomura Shigaraki: Rising" chapter that ends with him dying by this point

I know it's not over yet and anything can happen but I'm glad All For One returning doesn't feel as out of place as Kaguya did. Deku weakening Shigaraki mentally just for AFO to take advantage of it and return was so much more interesting than Black Zetsu basically killing Madara out of nowhere and revealing he's been the mastermind the whole time in order to revive Kaguya lol so far the ending for this series is looking very solid, even if it's not perfect

Kaguya was that bad...
See, people say that, but not really. She was kind of out of nowhere, but she wasn't completely so. The Ten-Tails had no explained backstory, we had no clue what it was, we had no clue where this famous "Sage of Six Paths" came from, and then Hagoromo starts talking about his brother and his mom and stuff, people start fighting, and bam, a face appears behind Madara when he uses Infinite Tsukuyomi, and we're all going "Whoah, who was that?" and then some shit goes down. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible.

Honestly the war arc felt like a lot of shoehorned stuff except for Madara really lol imagine if the mindscape in MHA was never established or AFOs consciousness being inside of shigaraki's mind and all of that happened and was explained during this arc instead of established periodically throughout the series. That's what the war arc for Naruto felt like to me tbh

Nah, Madara's whole plan was some crazy shoehorned shit with no backup plan. People just like Juubidara more than Kaguya because... people just like Juubidara more than Kaguya.

Not his plan, just him returning. I didn't mind that part much.

Yeah, that part was fine. I think the War Arc overall was great, its convoluted nature is just the product of Shonen overescalation combined with a lack of sufficient focus on side characters and the manga frankly being a bit shorter than it should have been.

Also, since this is the MHA thread, I have to say something, so Aizawa is a pretty neat guy.
