A presence drew near in the dark of night. One cloaked completely in purple, holding a lamppost no regular human could hope to wield...

...But this man was no human.

The sound of his footsteps slowly drew up to the temple steps, awaiting the challenge he heard of. It is rumored that not even ancient warriors of old could not best this man- no... Heroic Spirit, in battle, and this statement has only sparked the cloaked man's interest.

At the top of the steps to the temple stood his challenge, wielding a large, unwieldy blade. He looked down upon the cloaked man with a smile, hearing about him as well. One of the best duelists from another world, and tonight he shall see if this is true.

Both readied their weapons, and dashed towards eachother, lighting up the darkened night with sparks...

The Grandmaster at Arms

vs

The Nameless Samurai

Rules:

  • Post-Retcon Jax.
  • In-character & win by whatever they would do in-character to win.
  • Speed equalized.
  • Both have basic knowledge of eachother (For instance: Jax knows that Assassin's an extremely good swordsman, whereas Assassin knows that Jax is an extremely good fighter in general).
  • If the match is tipped in Assassin's favor because of Tsubame-Gaeshi, then Jax is allowed to know of Tsubame-Gaeshi, but if it's relatively even, then we won't need to use this rule (We can also change the rules at any time to make the fight more fair).
  • The match takes place on the
    Ryuudou temple entrance

since jax is using a real weapon i'd go with him due to just having a ridiculous amount of versatility, magic damage, and the ability to heighten his durability. On top of most if not all of the assassins damage being blocked by counter strike and being stunned by one second is more than enough time for jax to kill him. Id say considering how jax is set up in the game, and what his profile shows, he's a perfect counter for most swordsman, this one included.

Jax is still using his lamppost here, so...

Still counting your vote though. 1 - 0 - 0.

Leap makes it easier for Jax to take high ground, which is a good advantage in this situation, but doing so will risk getting him beheaded by Sasaki. That, or he gets "beheaded".

That said, Jax can raise his defenses and empower his attacks while Sasaki can adjust fairly easily to changes on the battlefield, if his battle with Saber is any indication (just a short exchange of blows and he already knows the general form and length of Excalibur despite being invisible, also, if the anime followed the novel, then he casually countered Saber trying to force a closer-range of combat to remove his sword length advantage). He's also no stranger to being physically inferior, considering he canonically forced off all the enemy servants, most of which have stat advantages over him.

Then there's Counter Strike which is Jax's reason for being a hard-counter to physical fighters. I don't know how that would interact with Sasaki who is noted to not engage his sword in any blocks and deflections, but I think Jax is in for a surprise once he notices how much harder it is to do so. That, and once Sasaki notices his hits are not doing much, he can just move up the steps.

Lastly, Tsubame Gaeshi is something Jax has no reason to be able to counter. Sure he knows magic, regardless of if he knows the spells or if he knows others who use said spells, but considering his opponent is 100% mundane, suddenly being faced with 3 swords from 3 directions coming from 1 guy who only has 1 sword will be shocking to say the least.

Sasaki 5.5/10

Instinctive Reaction is the ability to react to oncoming attacks without the need for conscious thought. As such, those with this ability will automatically dodge and possibly counter oncoming attacks through muscle memory or instinct. As a result, the user is free to utilize the mental effort that is normally spent on performing these movements on other things.

Knowledge of Respect and Harmony:
Assassin's techniques cannot be properly perceived by his opponents no matter how many times they're demonstrated, as a result, it is impossible for an opponent to get used to them. Thus the tenth, hundredth, or even thousandth encounter against him will feel the same as the first, so his techniques will always retain their effectiveness against his opponents.

Not getting used to an attack =/= being unable to react to an attack

Jax's instinctive reactions is good enough to react to invisible attacks and attacks from invisible opponents

A good bit above 18 megatons, I need to see if someone can calc Azir's city raising feat as he unearthed a massive shuriman city from under the desert with a casual gesture

Tsubame Gaeshi is unavoidable in that it locks away all paths of dodging except flinging yourself backwards, which would be a stupid move in a sword fight.

Gae Bolg stabby is legit unavoidable.

Jax has a move specifically where he jumps toward or away from the target

Plus Tsubame Gaeshi can only be performed properly if performed on level ground, whereas the battlefield is literally a diagonal surface

He used it properly at the temple.

If anything this match seems to be bent in Assasin's favor due to putting him at a place he is perfectly familiar with.
